When everything starts spinning out of control .
. .
Three years into college, Tressa Oliver’s life is a nonstop party. She’s skating by in her classes, and there’s no shortage of drinking, dancing, and general hell-raising. The only aspect that hasn’t been much fun: She can’t shake the toxic jerks that always seem to gravitate toward her.
It will take someone totally wrong . . .
Trent James is the classic anti–bad boy: smart, boring, and way too serious. To a wild girl like Tressa, there’s no way in hell they’re compatible—especially since Trent seems to see straight through her defenses.
To set her right.
When a college prank goes terribly wrong, Tressa starts to suspect that her partying ways are leading nowhere fast. Now she has to turn to the last person she ever thought she’d ask for help—and quickly discovers that there’s more to Trent than meets the eye . . .

4 Nerdy Stars by Nicole Lorenzo
Tressa Oliver has always been wild. Even as a kid she stirred up
trouble in her quiet town. As she enters her third year in college she has no
plans of stopping. Her life consists of non-stop parting, in fact she is quite
famous for it. Life is short so have fun is her motto, and her rapidly
declining grades are a reflection of exactly how much fun she is having. Her
wild ways also attract loser boyfriends and Tressa has just let go of another
one when she starts to think she will never find a good guy. That’s when she
ironically runs into Trent Lawson at a party. Trent is her complete polar
opposite. He’s boring, smart, wears superhero t-shirts and nerdy glasses. He’s
a geek. He’s also from her hometown and was rumored to have a crush on her.
They have absolutely nothing in common at all but something in his blue –eyed
stare catches Tressa off guard and she doesn’t like it one bit.
“What
makes you think I can’t handle wild?”
When a horrible accident occurs at a Frat party Tressa gets some sense
scared into her. She realizes that she needs to spend less time parting and
more time focusing on her future. Her grades have slipped to the point where
she is pretty much failing her classes and she is put on academic probation.
Her professor is giving her a second chance and assigns her a tutor who is none
other than Trent. Tressa is embarrassed to have Trent tutoring her but she is
determined to get her life on the right track so she agrees. Spending all this
time with Trent has her seeing him in a different light. She starts to notice
things she didn’t quite notice before. Soon she finds herself looking forward
to her tutoring sessions.
“How can nerdy
T-shirts and glasses hide that much hotness?”
The more time she spends with Trent, Tressa realizes that he
definitely has an interest in her. But Tressa is convinced that they are
completely wrong for each other even though she can’t keep her eyes off of him
whenever she is with him. Trents asks her out repeatedly and Tressa always says
no. She wonders what a date with him would be like but she is so convinced that
it could never work out with him she is afraid to give him a chance.
“I’m
completely wrong for you…”
“What
if I say I think you’re wrong?”
It’s only when Tressa loses a
bet to Trent that they finally have their first date. After their date and
first kiss Tressa finally admits to herself how much she likes him. Trent convinces her to give them a try and Tressa
soon finds herself falling for the Geeky boy next door who should be completely
wrong for her.
“We were like an
effing Lifetime movie - The Party Girl and the Geek. Tune in to see if the
party girl can teach the geek to let loose.”
This one surprised me. It was fun to see the tables turned here with
the girl being the wild one and the boy being the quiet nerdy one. Trent is
determined to get Tressa to give them a try. What I love about him is that he
was comfortable in his own skin. He wasn’t ashamed to be a nerd, it’s who he is
and that’s that. He wore his heart on his sleeve, dreaming of the day Tressa
would finally give him the time of day. Trent will make you swoon with his
honest feelings and complete naivety towards certain things. He loves Tressa so
much he even puts hid future in jeopardy for her at one point. Their personalities were so different yet I
loved their chemistry together. There was a lot of humor here! I laughed out
loud through most of this book. Being a nerdy girl at heart married to a geeky
man I appreciated all the nods to Star Wars and the superheroes! Tressa was so
convinced they would never work out yet he wound up being perfect for her. I didn’t care for Tressa’s roommate at all. I
thought she was cold and selfish, but I did enjoy the other characters in the
book. Overall I though Contradictions was a sweet, love story. It’s a quick
read, I finished it in one sitting. There were no crazy twists and turns and
worries of them not getting their happily ever after. I read this as a
standalone novel, but I’m definitely interested in going back and reading the
other two books!
“Because
I’ve been dreaming for years about the moment I finally make you mine.”
