Review by Jen Hagen

Whereas I was thoroughly impressed with the first book in this new MC series, I found this latest release to be lagging in terms of story depth.  There was plenty of action to keep my thoughts occupied, but I needed more one-on-one interaction to fully comprehend where the story was going.  When we left off with Zeek and Jillian they were on the run, heading to his brother’s rival MC club.  This book picks up with no time lapsed from its predecessor.  They have arrived at his brother’s club and it’s pretty safe to say they are not welcome.

I killed one of your members in a fog of rage, one that I cannot bring back, or change.  It’s in the past, and I can do is move forward and pay my dues.  I’m here because I have nowhere else to go.

I was a little confused as to why there was so much hatred between Zeek and his brother, Lip.  There wasn’t a lot of backstory given—just a few paragraphs here and there that quickly filled us in on the circumstances.  Perhaps that was part of the previous MC series.  Either way I felt like I was missing part of the integral history between the two clubs.   However much hatred exists between the two brothers it can’t be denied that they are bound to each other.

“Why are you doing this for me?”  I ask Lip as I clip my vest in place.
“It’s called brotherhood.”

Brotherhood means you have each other’s back when the times are tough and it means sacrificing your own life for that of your brother.  Lip and his MC brothers are ready and willing to help Zeek get back at his uncle for displacing Zeek and Jillian from their city.  They are ready to reclaim what belongs to Zeek all the while Jillian faces her own inner battle of right versus wrong.  Is Jillian ready to turn a blind side to the law?

“Now I’m the outlaw.”

“Just—Just get in the shower,” he mutters, pulling back the shower curtain.
“Why are you doing all this?”
A pensive look crosses his face. “All of what?”
“This!” I wave my hands around. “Holding that nice old couple at gunpoint, in here with me. All of it?”
His eyes rake over me, and he shrugs. “So you could shower.”
“So you kidnapped a little old couple so I could shower?”
It’s wrong, so wrong. Yet, I feel my chest tighten with longing and adoration. I like it. WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME? I can’t help my attraction to him. His stare is cold, his calloused hands rough, but his draw is soft and alluring.
“You going to get in?” He flicks a brow at me.
