About QUIT YOUR PITCHIN'

What’s wrong with my butt?
She means those words to be directed toward the woman beside her, not him. But he can’t stop himself from answering. Not when her ass is the most magnificent thing he’s seen in his life.
Apparently, answering her with ‘not a damn thing’ wasn’t what she was expecting.
She likely wasn’t expecting the baseball she took to the face at his next at bat, either.
All it takes is one ill-fated foul ball, and George Hoffman, Lumberjacks center fielder, falls head over heels in love with Wrigley Field—and yes, that is her real name.
From that point forward, George and Wrigley fall into a fast whirlwind love that ends with them eloping to Vegas. And he has his potty mouth, titty bar owning, pain in the ass grandmother to thank for it.
Not that he’s complaining or anything.
Who wouldn’t want to be married to a woman that made his heart race like he was in the final game of the World Series?
The only problem is trying to convince her of that.

Review by Lisa Kane

Wrigley Field (yes that is her name) is at the Lumberjacks vs. Strokers baseball game. She no fan of baseball, but her sister Diamond (yep that's her name) is and so she's here. Miserable, but here.

One player catcher her eye-Furious George Hoffman. He's tall, red haired and smokin' hot. She seems to have caught his eye too.

His teeth were straight and white, and his eyes were a bright green that shone like shiny emeralds.
And he was staring straight at me.

George is one of the best in the league, but you can't always control where the ball is going to go-case in point-the ball hits Wrigley right in the eye! He can't get to her fast enough to make sure she's alright.

Passed out. Not dead. Good.

Thus starts a beautiful relationship. George finds out a lot about Wrigley. Tracks her down. Starts dating her. Things move quickly. I'm thinking this is a sweet sports romance.

This story is told from both POV's. It's also broken into two parts. I hadn't noticed that when I first saw the chapters. Why two parts? Be prepared to have your heart sliced into little raw pieces in part two. Remember how sweet the first half was? Those days are over. Things moved quickly and I could barely keep up.

"You're giving up on us. Maybe I never really meant anything to you at all."

There is a third Field sibling. Dodger Field. (yep, that's his name) He's a sports reporter and the most despicable excuse for a brother. Man, I just wanted this guy to take a ball to the face himself!

One of the things that I most enjoyed about this story, besides the angst, which I adored, was Wrigley's appearance. She's curvy and not a stick figure. She's beautiful but probably doesn't fit what society's expectations of the perfect woman's body. I loved that-I loved that she could stand to lose a few pounds, and that George couldn't give a rat's ass about any of that. He loved her just the way she was and I loved him for that.

This is actually my first read by Lani Lynn Vale (gasps...I know right??) but I like her sassy style and clean writing. The characters mess up, make stupid mistakes, but own up to them. Her dialogue is spot on and she doesn't waste a lot of time with inner thoughts. They speak their mind or have a good reason for not putting it all out there. Plus, I do love when my heart goes right for my throat and it physically hurts to read the words. Perfection!!

"It's not easy loving you," he informed me.
I bared my teeth at him. " I never told you, you had to love me."

Just one little thing...the cover for this...the guy is hotter than July in Texas, but he's no red head.
