A Standalone Contemporary Romance Novel
By: NY Times, USA Today, and #1 Wall Street Journal Best Selling Author, Penelope Ward
Synopsis:
From New York Times bestselling author Penelope Ward, comes a new, sexy STANDALONE novel.
We met in the least likely of places. It started out innocently enough. I was “ScreenGod” and she was “Montana,” but of course, those weren’t our actual names, just the virtual cloaks we hid behind.
Logging in at night and talking to her was my escape—my sanctuary.
Her real name was Eden, I’d soon come to find out.
From the first time we connected online, I found myself transfixed.
She was an addiction.
At first, we knew nothing about each other’s real identities…and she was adamant that we keep things that way. Anonymity had no effect on our unstoppable chemistry, though. If anything, it allowed us to open up even more in ways we may not have otherwise.
Eden was funny, intelligent, gorgeous—everything I’d ever wanted in a woman.
But I couldn’t really have her.
I had accepted things would have to stay the way they were—until the day I found a clue that led me straight to her.
So I took a chance.
And that was when our love story really began.
4.5 Stars!

"If love is not crazy, it's not love."
This is one of those reviews where you don't want to spoil anything, so you post ambiguous sentences that sometimes don't make sense and frustrate readers....
Ryder McNamara is rich, successful and restless. He's following in his famous father's footsteps but is tired of all the fake people around him.
I'm the son of one of Hollywood's biggest movie producers, so all of the wannabes in this city see me as a direct line to Sterling McNamara. It must have seemed like I have it all, given that I live alone in a ten-million dollar house, revealing a hillside view.
He's bored with life and having everything handed to him. There is no real accomplishment in that, and no real goals.
On top of all this, he's just found out his ex, Mallory, is getting married again.
My ex, Mallory, and I were together for four years. Even though our break up had been almost two years ago, I hadn't really been able to shake her.
Ryder has deep regrets and a ton of guilt over the way things ended between them.
So, in a moment of boredom, he goes on line and discovers a surprise. The most beautiful voice is singing a song that holds sweet memories of his late mother for him, and he feels an instant connection with the equally beautiful face singing the song.
Ryder becomes more than a little obsessed with this virtual girl. He makes request to hear her sing, paying token after token for those few minutes of heaven with her. But slowly, they begin to get to know at least surface things about each other. They move from texting online, to using their voices.
"Can you hear me?" I said.
She smiled. "Yes. Oh my God, yes. Hi." Montana seemed thoroughly amused.
Now, I'm not going to reveal a whole bunch about Montana/Eden. Just know that sometimes life leads us to choices that others might never make, but seem to be the only choice for us at the time. Montana has the weight of the world on her shoulders, and she's the primary caregiver for her younger brother, Ollie. What a great kid he is!
"Ollie is my entire life."
When their virtual relationship becomes a real, person, touch to touch one, things move pretty quickly. There are lots of issues-location being one. He's in California, she's in Idaho.
"I can't every travel or move to California or be the type of girl a man like you needs."
Yep, this is what I call the Penelope W. moment. In every book she writes, Ms. Ward will shatter your heart. This evil, plotting author will wring all the emotions. (probably while she stirs a cauldron and cackles to herself!) Love Online has plenty of those moments.
"You're not gonna take her away, are you?"
Shit. "Of course not."
"Because if she went away, I wouldn't have anyone to take care of me."
Yep...grabbing a tissue over here.
My love for Eden had been simmering for a long time, but right now it felt like it was exploding out of me.
Just when things are going well...disaster after heartbreak is coming Ryder's way.
"Because I don't know how to live without you."
If ever there was a time these two need each other, it's now. But how could this ever work? Is love ever enough to compensate for all the other things life throws at us?
"You've made me realize I could never be happy before because I was looking for happiness in all of the wrong places."
