Review: Loving You Always by Kennedy Ryan

Synopsis

Kerris Moreton should be the happiest woman in the world: She has a successful business and is about to start the family she's always wanted. But the man of her dreams-the one whose green eyes see straight into her soul and whose gentle hands make her body hum with pleasure-is not hers.

Each secret moment with Walsh Bennett serves to remind Kerris of what she's missing. And every stolen hour makes it harder to see her future without him. But being with Walsh would betray a sacred promise and upend her perfect life. When tragedy strikes, the razor's edge between love and loyalty grows sharper than ever. And Kerris must decide where her heart will fall . . .

4 Star Review by Lisa Kane

Loving You Always picks up right where the first book, When You Are Mine left off. Kerris married Cameron, in spite of being in love with Cam's best friend Walsh. She's now pregnant and trying to tell herself she's content. Her baby girl is due soon and being a mother and having a family has been her life long dream. Cameron is moody and constantly brings up Kerris'  kiss with Walsh. Kerris finds some suspicious things on Cam's phone and she is questioning his own fidelity.

I told you I had something special for you. Call me when you get this.
A picture came through of a blonde, her face partially obscured by the T-shirt she was raising to expose her naked breasts.

One rainy night, things escalate out of control between Kerris and Cam and tragedy results. When Walsh finds out what happened he moves heaven and earth to get to her. Cam is so guilt ridden that he shuts down. Kerris has a long rode ahead of her, and one that she doesn't want to travel. She is heart broken and alone and full of remorse. One man left on his own and one she made leave. She needs to find out who she is, and why she suffers from such self esteem issues.

The past was a labyrinth she couldn't find a way out of. With every turn she took, she hoped it would lead to an exit to a new life, a new chapter, but each turn just looped her back into old memories, old patterns, old hurts.

The three main characters-Kerris, Walsh and Cameron all undergo transformations in the coming  year. Kerris finally understands her abandonment issues, Walsh learns to make peace with his father, and to accept he must have patience with Kerris in order for them to have any kind of a future and Cameron follows his dreams of becoming an artist.

While I was a big fan of Walsh, I can't say the same for Cameron. Every once in a while he showed his vulnerable side, that part of him that he hid away from everyone's eyes. I know that he was hurt and shaken to the core by the discovery of his best friend's love for his girl, and the fact that his girl felt the same way-that devastated him and rightly so. But for the most part, I found him to be self centered, vain and selfish. At the lowest time in Kerris' life, he thought only of himself. Even before the accident, he was obsessed with his new wealth and ambition, and if Kerris came along for the ride-great. If not, life goes on. I know his story is the focus of the next book in the series, but he needs to undergo a total personality change for me to muster up any kind of empathy for this guy.

The ending of this story is sweet and things come full circle. There are some fragile fences to be mended between Kerris and Walsh and Cameron and whether those relationships can ever be what they once were is doubtful. But they can form the basis for a new kind of relationship, different but one that works for all three of them.

She saw her future in those eyes. The children she'd longed for; the family she'd coveted. As a little girl, she had prayed for a home, and he was that. He was her country. His heart was her homeland.

  1. After When You Are Mine, I was all WHAT IS HAPPENING?!?!?!
I enjoyed this book! I'm with you, I didn't find Cameron to be 100% likable, but the guy has some pain so I kind of understood him. I liked the ending a lot!!
