When she walked into Physics class on the first day of school her junior year, and realized who was in her class, she vowed to ignore him. Nick had no intention of letting her off the hook though. He patiently waited until the right moment to let her know he wanted her.
Unable to resist him, Leah agreed to go on a date. Try as she might, the feelings she’d been suppressing all year came to the surface, and washed over her like a tidal wave. She wanted him, and he wanted her, but…Nick had scouts ready to make his football dreams a reality.
Deciding that Leah was more important than his future, Nick gave up his chance to play at the college level. He chose to stay behind, and build the foundation for what he thought would be a solid future for him and Leah. Only Leah had other plans… she wanted to get out of Pittsford as fast as possible, and was willing to give up anything to do it, including Nick. When the Olympic scouts offered her a chance of a lifetime, she couldn’t tell them ‘no.’
We saw forgiveness in Shattered, desire in Restored, and unconditional love in Renewed. Now, see how it all started in Destined- Nick and Leah’s beginning.

I loved Heather D'Agostino's Shattered series but I did wonder how Leah and Nick met, and what happened in high school that led to them being apart through the college years. Destined answered my questions and few more.
Leah and her best friend, Avery, were friends with Cam Sutter, Nick's brother in their Junior year of high school. Leah may have thought Nick was hot, but she also knew he was a major player and his role as the star quarterback on the foot ball team sealed the deal for an endless supply of one night stands who couldn't drop their panties fast enough for him.
Leah was always an over achiever and took senior classes in her junior year. So that's how she ended up in a class with Nick, who was a senior. Everyone knew he was a shoe in for a football scholarship; his mom worked two jobs to support he and Cam and his family depended on his success, hoping for a better life for all of them if he was eventually signed to the NFL. Nick may have had his share of girls, but it seems he noticed Leah a while ago and wanted her. Badly. Enough that he knew she wasn't an easy lay, and he wasn't looking for that with her. Somehow, he knew she would bring out the best in him, even though the rest of the world saw the boy from the wrong side of the tracks.
Nick set his sights on her and pursued her. Leah thought maybe he was trying to win a bet, or just amusing himself with her, but he tried over and over to set her straight.
"Do you have any idea what being around you does to me? Seeing you sit there every day in class is killing me. I've got so many things going on in my life that I should be concentrating on, but all I can think about is when I'm going to see you."
Having his former lovers throw trouble their way didn't help things either. Especially Becca who was such a pivotal character at the end of Shattered. (Book 1) Seems she is also a handy piece of ass in this pre-quel too.
Nick is so in love with Leah that he makes a decision changing the course of his future because of her. One that affects his whole family. In his mind, their future is set and he will do whatver he has to, in order to make sure he and Leah aren't separated. Leah is an althlete herself. They've nicknamed her the "Golden Girl." She is a star track runner and has had feelers from Olympic trainers letting her know their interest in her. She too, has a bright future after high school.
Things become complicated and Nick (with some good reason) becomes resentful of Leah and her choices. Leah is confused but thinks she and Nick can work things out, but has she overestimated her ability to convince Nick to change his decisions?
My dreams...they were plagued with images of Nick. He haunted every corner of my mind. I'd given him everything over the last year. He owned every part of me and I wasn't sure I'd survive without him.
There are a lot of steamy moments in this one. Nick is so patient and loving with Leah, I found myself getting sexually frustrated with this girl! While Nick is pigheaded and impulsive, Leah is equally obtuse and really tempts the reader to throw their Kindles at her once or twice! I'm so glad I've read the other three and know the outcome. These two have had a hard road since the first time they met!
I loved this series and this one proved to be just as wonderful as the next three!
