Review by Jen Skewes
Love Rekindled is the second book in this series. It is also a second chance romance which I
love. We first met Brad in Love Surfaced
and to be honest he was not my favorite character. He made mistakes and I had to wonder if he
could possibly redeem himself? And the
answer to that question is a very big yes!!
Brad and Taylor dated when they were in college. Brad is a swimmer and he hoped that all his
hard work would make his dream of being in the Olympics come true. But when that dream was shattered and he
didn’t make the cut he found himself on a downward spiral. Drugs and alcohol numbed his pain. And in the process he made some big mistakes,
one particular that ruined his relationship with the only girl that he has ever
loved. But now that he has cleaned
himself up, he has every intention of getting his girl back.
Taylor was head over heels is in love with Brad Ashby. But two years ago she found him with another
woman and has not been able to forgive him since then. After graduation she moved
back home to her small town where she is trying to make a life for
herself. Running into Brad two years
later was not something that she was prepared for. He hurt her very badly and
she still could not forgive him. But she
has secrets of her own, one that she knows she needs to share with Brad. But regardless of her secret can she really
forgive the man that shattered her heart?
Will they both be able to move on from the past and make it work?
Brad screwed up and hurt Taylor so very badly. But she is the only woman that he has ever
loved. He misses her and needs her in
his life. I loved seeing the man that
Brad has now become. He was no longer
the man that Taylor watched him turn into. He
was sober and trying to make something of his life. He proved in every way possible that Taylor
could trust him, that he would never hurt her again and that they were meant to
be together. He is so far from the man
he was two years ago.
I felt bad for Taylor and all that she had gone
through and how badly Brad had hurt
her. But she has moved on, or at least
she tried to. Seeing Brad again brought
back the feelings that she once had for him. Her
biggest issue was could she truly trust him not to hurt her again? She slowly learned that Brad was once again
the man that she fell in love with and that if she gives it a chance he can
have her heart again.
I love this story and how their second chance
progressed. It did not feel rushed and
it all felt real. I believed these two
belong together. You could feel how much
they loved each other and I wanted so badly for it to work. They were meant to be together forever and I
loved seeing them work it all out. We
get to see Tanner and Piper in this one which I loved. But there was also Dylan and Bea who are two
characters that I am very interested in and hoping that they get their own
story as well. Loved this on!!

Excerpt:
I'm a cheater. There. I said it. Two years ago, I fell into a hole, and as fast as my fingers clawed to escape, the dirt continued to pile on me. I'm not saying it's an excuse. I'm not even saying she should forgive me. Although, I hope she does. But I can't live without her anymore. I tried. I found a girl and proposed to her, while imagining the delicate finger I slid the ring on belonged to someone else. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't go through with marrying anyone but her. For sure, I never thought I'd say this, but I'm nothing without her. She brings out the good in me. That's why I'm here, in some small-ass town, to grovel my way back into her heart.
She's different now, and I'm not referring to the disappearance of her bleached blonde hair back to her natural brown. I loved her as a blonde, but the dark suits her better. I wouldn't care if she had rainbow-colored hair. I'm not sitting outside the hospital where she works, watching her walk to her car like some stalker, because she’s gorgeous. I’m here because of her heart and kindness. That’s what I’m fighting to get back. The package it comes in is just an added bonus.
Her ponytail swings back and forth as she laughs with what I hope is a co-worker, unless she's turned lesbian in the last two years. She waves good-bye to the girl and throws her purse into the passenger seat of her Jetta. The car has a little more rust than it did back in the day, but it's held up well. Still, it’s old and she deserves something newer.
She pulls out of her parking space, and my heart constricts as I watch her drive away from me again. I should duck down so she doesn’t see me, but my eyes won't veer from her. The beat-up Jetta passes and my stomach clenches. My hand itches to yank the car handle open. My feet beg to disobey and run to her. I don't have to, because she slams on the breaks and her eyes are locked on mine. Hope pours from mine while hers fume with anger.

Love Surfaced (Love Surfaced Series, Book 1)
Synopsis:
The equations are simple.
Piper Ashby + Brad Ashby = Twin Siblings
Brad Ashby + Tanner McCain = Best Friends
Piper Ashby + Tanner McCain = Off limits
Tanner and I abided by the rules. We stayed on our
designated sides of the relationship circle.
Ignoring swarming butterflies.
Brushing off skipped heartbeats.
Settling on lingering stares.
Here’s
the secret … a hand extended over that invisible line once, exponentially
changing the equation. I was convinced we could make our relationship work
until Tanner broke the trust he embedded in me from the age of seven.
One
deceit of mega proportions and the relationship we built for that short month
vanished. I swore never to speak to him again and it’s worked. Until now—two
years later, when my brother’s wedding places me face-to-face with the best
man—Tanner McCain.
Leaving
one equation to be solved. Can love surface twice?
