One day.
One letter.
That’s all it took for my life to fall apart. Now all that’s left is deception and betrayal. I don’t know who I am anymore. I don’t know who to trust.

So I leave, searching for the truth hidden behind a web of lies.

The only thing I take with me, besides a bag of clothes, is the memory of one night. That one night with Frankie, my best friend’s little sister. The woman I have loved as long as I can remember.

The memory is what keeps me going when I learn the truth. It’s what keeps me sane when I feel like I’m losing my mind. And, it's what drives me back to a life I ran from eighteen months ago.

Yet, nothing is the way it used to be. Frankie has a secret. One that changes everything. Changes who I am. Letting her go is not an option. I have to make her trust me. I need to make her mine.

But I have a secret of my own. One that keeps me awake at night. A secret that could make me lose Frankie forever. It’s not a chance I can take.

Not suitable for under 18's due to strong language, violence and sexual content

*Though this book can be read as a standalone, it's recommended to read 'That One Night' first to get the full picture.

Review by Jen hagen
I absolutely adored Ben in the first book “That One Night.”  He was a super guy and stepped up to the plate when it was required of him.  No questions…No expectations from him…He just did what he felt was right and it turned out to be the best thing for everybody.   Since “That One Night” was told from Frankie’s point of view, there was a huge time gap of Ben’s life that went accounted for.  What was he doing during the 18 months he was away? It’s now his turn to tell the story. “That One Day” begins where Ben receives word the life he has known has been a fabricated lie.  His answer to hearing the lies is to drown himself in whiskey and have his best friend’s sister, Frankie, help him forget about his pain.  Once clarity begins to set in, Ben makes a decision…

I realize I have nothing to offer her.  My life is falling apart, and I don’t want to drag her into it.  I’m consumed by anger, pain, and sadness.  There is no room for love and happiness right now.  She deserves better than the chaos surrounding me.

Ben pulls the a-hole card, running away from everybody and leaving Frankie a one-word goodbye note.  Ben leaves his friends and family trying to find answers as to how this new revelation will effect his life.    This is the story we wanted to know after the first book concluded.  Ben is not kidding when he says he is full of anger.  Sometimes I wanted to tell him “get over it!” but we just have to wait for Ben to work this out on his own.  Ben practically pickles his liver while trying to come to terms with acceptance.   While he was away cutting off contact from his friends and family, life took an unplanned left turn for Frankie, and when Ben finally decides to go back home he is unprepared for what he will find.   Ben doesn’t give any answer as to where he went or why he left.  He keeps everything locked up tight as a vault and this isn’t good for him.

“Where were you, Ben? Where did you go? Why?”
Her voice breaks, betraying how much she needs an answer.  An answer I’m not ready to give her.  An answer that could make her run from who I might become one day.  Who would want to be with someone who isn’t right in the head?

Things are going well for Frankie and Ben in their newly adapted lifestyle, but because Ben won’t come clean about why he left, Frankie can’t trust him.  It’s a huge answer she is waiting patiently for.  I don’t know if I could have been that patient.  There is so much that Ben is keeping from her.  He wants a relationship with Frankie, but how can they have a healthy conducive bond when he can’t open up about himself.

“I’m scared to lose her if she finds out the truth.”

Oh Ben, you need to tell her what continues to haunt you!  You keeping secrets is going to potentially put everybody you love in danger!!

I can’t recall the last time I prayed, but right now I need all the help I can get.

Some of the story and dialogue is redundant from the first book, but I was pleased with hearing Ben’s side.   I enjoyed the banter between Ben and his best friend, Dave, and it makes me wonder if Dave will be getting his own book??

Author Bio

Josie Wright has always been a bookworm, spending every free moment with her nose buried in a book. While others were out partying, she spent her evenings with Heathcliff, Sydney Carton or Snape. Romance, fantasy, thrillers - you name it, she read it.

Thanks to the Kindle, she finally arrived in the 21St century and discovered the Indie literature world. Josie has been lost to it ever since. With her love for the written word and her promiscuous feelings for countless book boyfriends, the next logical step was to start writing. The voices in her head and her imaginary friends wanted out to play and so she wrote her debut novel "That One Night", that's to be released early summer 2015. And the good news is, there are more voices and imaginary friend where Ben and Frankie came from.

Josie is a financial expert by day and a writing junkie by night. The rest of the time she's a bit of a hippie, a bit of a goth and many things in between. Josie loves to spend time with her husband when she can tear herself away from her book boyfriends. She loves video games, movies, good food and even better music. She's addicted to chips, long baths and shoes. Oh, and books of course. Definitely books.
