Book Blurb:

He’s known as Father Anton to his teammates—the brooding, sexy captain of the NHL’s Chicago Blaze has a reputation for…not having a reputation. Just like his diet and sleep routines, celibacy is part of Anton Petrov’s on-ice mojo. Or so they say. Anton stays mum on the subject. If the world thinks he chooses to abstain from sex, so be it. Better that than the truth getting out: there is a woman he burns for, but he can never have her. She’s his teammate’s wife, after all.

Mia Marceau is finally on her own. Now that she and her husband are living apart, she’s finding the peace she was desperate for. She spends her days in classes and late nights bartending, making her own way in the world at last. After what she’s been through, as long as her husband leaves her alone, she doesn’t plan to rock the boat. He still has the power to hurt those dearest to her, and she can’t demand a divorce with such a high cost.

A chance encounter with Mia has Anton hoping for a shot he never thought he’d get. And while she’s drawn to the intense, serious hockey center, Mia’s leery about playing with fire. That’s all Anton has ever known for Mia, though—a living, burning desire that won’t be denied—no matter the cost.

Review by Jen Skewes

Anton is the first book in a new hockey series from Brenda Rothert. I am really excited for this series.  I really enjoyed Anton's story.  It was a sweet, fast paced read with two characters that I loved.

Anton is hockey player, the captain of his team and nothing of what you would specters a hot single professional hockey star to be.  He is super strict when it comes to his diet and workout routine, he has his rituals but the biggest shocker is his sex life, or should I say lack of. He has not been with a woman in a very very long time, for reasons that many people probably wouldn't understand.

From the moment that he saw Mia Marceau he was a goner.  But there is one problem. she is completely off limits because her husband is also Anton's teammate.  When he ends up at the bar that she works at, he finds out that her marriage is basically over and she is now on her own.  He would give anything to be with her, but regardless of her situation you just don't go there with a teammate's wife, ex or not.  So for now he settles for just being her friend.  Until he sees the real reasons behinds her separation and then of course feelings get involved.  Will he take the chance on the one and only person he has ever wanted as much as he wants Mia?

I really did enjoy this book and the characters.  Anton is sexy, sweet, patient and a genuine person.  I loved how he wanted to bother for Mia and help her in any way that he could.  Even if she fought him  about it.  The last few years have been rough for Mia and now that she is on her own she promises herself that she will find a way to take care of herself.  She will not depend on anyone again.  But with Anton it is so hard to say no to him and even harder not to fall for him.  He is everything that she deserves, even if she doesn't see it that way.  They were so cute together.

I am really excited for this series.  and while I did really enjoy this one, it also fell flat in some spots for me.   I also wanted a little more at the end.  I am really looking forward to the next one.
