BLURB

From New York Times bestselling author Penelope Ward comes a new, STANDALONE novel…

Don’t say her name.
That was the one rule my bandmates followed, because they knew how much it messed me up to think about her, especially on tour.
My ex, Nicole.
The one who got away and the woman who still owned every piece of my heart.
After our divorce, I threw myself into the rock scene, trying to forget my heartbreak.
Three years after we split, a phone call from Nicole changed everything.
She told me her grandmother wasn’t doing well.
Mimi was still family to me, and she apparently had one wish before dying: to spend time with us—Nicole and me.
With Mimi’s caretaker away on vacation, it would be the ideal time for us to move in with her for a couple of weeks.
Of course, I couldn’t refuse.
But there was a catch.
Nicole apparently never told her that we’d gotten a divorce.
She hadn’t believed Mimi could handle it, because her grandmother loved me so much.
So, not only would I have to see Nicole again, but I’d be pretending to still be her husband.
Two weeks in a tiny house in a small town with the woman who broke my heart. Or was it me who broke hers?
It was complicated.
And it was about to be a heck of a lot more complicated sharing one bed in the guest room with a woman who wasn’t mine anymore.

Lisa Kane's 4.5 Star Review

There are a couple of tropes that are my favorites-two of which are rock star romances and a second chance at love. So when a book has both of these-sign me up!

Atticus is the drummer for the band Delirious Jones. He's struggled since he broke up with the love of his life, Nicole. So much so, that he can not tolerate her name even being spoken aloud. When she calls out of the blue and tells him she needs to talk to him, he is sick, literally sick with anxiety. Fearing she is going to tell him she's getting married or having a baby, he is all over the place with worry.

But the last thing he expected was for Nicole to tell him that her grandmom, Mimi is asking for him. See Nicole never told her grandmother she and Atticus broke up. She just came up with excuses on why he was never around to visit her. Not sure which is worse, her thinking the two of them are still married or that Atticus had no problem blowing off spending time with a old woman who adores him.

Nicole needs a favor, a big one. Mimi's care taker is off for two weeks and she wants Nicole and Atticus to come and stay with her. No, pretending to still be married to each other and to stay in the same house for two weeks-who would even call that a favor. No big deal, right?

Atticus is far from over Nicole, and this is worst fear come true. Having to spend time with the love of his life, the woman he will never get over-how can he do this-but then again, how can he not?

Sometimes you have to go back again and revisit a story to understand how relationships begin and blossom and in some cases, how they die. There is lots of flashbacks in this one. And moments of sheer pain for how this couple unraveled.

Like every Penelope Ward story, expect tears. Yours, not necessarily the characters' tears. But that's the beauty of her story. Only in the ashes, can the phoenix rise. Only after the thunderstorm can the sun shine once again.

I have real love for this one-it checked all my boxes.
