Review and Giveaway: Losing Control by Jen Frederick

I’d do anything to keep my mother alive.

Anything, including ask Ian Kerr for help. I don’t know much about him, except that he has more money than some small countries. And he’s willing to spend it on me. Just one catch: there’s a string attached, and not just the one I feel pulling me into his arms and his bed. There’s also the plan for revenge he wants my help with.

Every time he says my name, it makes my body shiver and my heart stutter. I know he’s going to wreck me, know there won’t be anything left of me but lust and sensation by the time he’s done with me, but even though I can see the heartbreak coming towards me like a train, ready to crash into me, I can’t get out of the way. I want what he makes me feel. Want what he’s offering.

This may have started out as something to save my mother, but now…now it’s about what he makes me feel. I’m in danger of losing everything that’s important. Worse? Ian's whispered words and hot caresses are making me believe that's okay.

Review by Allison East

Victoria "Tiny" Corielli has had a crazy life, for being so young, she has so many responsibilities. She works as a bike courier- it's easy, but she doesn't have time for anything else in her life. She also has to care for her ill mother, and all the money, time, and energy she has is focused on that.

They live in a small place on the fifth floor no less, with no elevator. Tiny has a learning disability that makes her not able to hold a job for long. Her mother was in remission for three years when they thought she was scot free, now the cancer is back in full force, and Tiny is devastated. Her mother means everything to her and is her only living relative-except for her skeevy step brother Malcom, he offers her a job delivering illegal substances and contracts. She has to find a way to pay for her mother's treatments and get a new apartment on the first floor.

While out doing a delivery she meets a mysterious stranger. And they both feel some sort of unspoken connection with one another- sparks fly. Instead of acting on the desire, she gets scared and runs. She has no time for anyone in her life- let alone a gorgeous panty melting man.

Working for Malcom, however- leads her back to this mystery man, Ian Kerr. She needs his signature, and for him to hire her. But he can't hire her for what he needs;  he has too much interest in her. So she heads on her merry way. But not for long. He  can't stay away from her and his interest is piqued. He is the cat in this chase. He's everywhere. And boy does he want her- especially in his bed- but not just for that.

Ian has some hesitation, but in the end he does hire her to help with a super-secret project based on revenge. Ian has no choice but to hire her and let her help him with his project. But she has remained in the dark about his motives for revenge.

Ian is very caring- he takes very good care of what is his. He considers Tiny and her mother to deserve that care. He gives her everything, a dream home with all the finest fixings, clothes, lingerie. Tiny is used to doing things for herself, and keeping that control and when it comes to Ian she finds herself letting go- and it feeling really nice for someone to finally take care of HER.

I can't wait for the next book, because we get to get inside of Ian Kerr’s wicked mind. It should be fantastic and while it doesn’t end on a cliffhanger- there are many more things to figure out, like where they go from here, and if Tiny will continue the revenge plan for Ian; if Ian will read an important letter from his childhood, and if they will make it to their happily ever after!

This may have started out as something to save my mother, but now…now it’s about what he makes me feel. I’m in danger of losing everything that’s important. Worse? Ian's whispered words and hot caresses are making me believe that's okay.

  1. Love this story ... Tiny is amazing ... her commitment to her Mom and how she deals with her own disability just shows incredible strength. Love how Ian sees something in her no one else seems to notice and gives her something she has never had ... someone to take care of her.
