Review by Jen Skewes

I finished this book yesterday but I still find myself thinking about it with a smile on my face.  And maybe that has to do with RJ, the hero of this story.  I absolutely loved this man.  There really is no way that you can read this book and not fall for him.  If you read The Beauty of Grace, this is RJ’s story.  I remember reading that book and was intrigued by him and could not wait for his story.  Nicole Richard did not disappoint with this one.  It was everything I could have hoped for and more.  There were moments where she managed to tear at my heart, moments where she made me swoon and then moments that just made me smiling and happy.

RJ and Addie were high school sweethearts.  They had one of those loves that they both knew would last forever.  They wanted and planed a future together.  They made promises to each other that they both had every intention of keeping.  They promised to only love each other forever.  But making the promise and keeping it are not quite the same thing.  As the summer is coming to an end they both need to face the reality of what comes next.  Addie will be going away to college while RJ will be staying home and working for his father.  They love each other so much but sometimes when you love someone as much as Addie loves RJ you need to make sacrifices in order to let that person live, even if it breaks your heart in the process.

It has been seven years since they have seen each other.  So much has changed, but one thing still remains.  No matter how much hurt and pain that they have been carrying around, they still love each other.  But they both agree that they cannot be more than friends. Well maybe that isn’t true.  I think RJ has other plans to get back the girl that he never stopped loving.  When a tragic incident brings them closer together, they both find comfort in each other.  They keep drifting closer and closer towards each other, towards that line of friendship.  It is only a matter of time before they cross it and after that moment everything will change.  Will they get their second chance at love?

I loved this book so much.  RJ is just this amazing man who is caring, loving, sweet, sexy and has a really big heart. He has had his own struggles throughout the years and while Addie may have destroyed his heart he still loved her.  He still held onto that promise that they made and I loved that about him.

Nicole Richard did an amazing job with this story.  There were moments that were completely unexpected.  I swear I did not see those twists coming but they did and it is what made tis story even better.  Because those twists and turns is what brought two people back together.  Reclaiming Us will made you laugh, swoon but will also at times bring out so many more emotions.  Yes it had it’s sad moments but it also had those moments that will just make you smile.  And in the end that is exactly what I was left doing, smiling.
