When Olivia finds out that Dean has a fantastic job offer it brings all her insecurities from her childhood front and center. She never had the security of a permanent home. She's made that in Mirror Lake with Dean and her son and she doesn't want to lose that. But at the same times, she doesn't want Dean to pass on the opportunity of a lifetime. Dean is torn-his family has to come first and Olivia has already sacrificed so much for his career.
"She had a shitty childhood and hated moving from place to place, being dragged around by her mother. She was always scared, always wanting to hide and find a safe place."
This latest installment in the journey of Professor and Mrs. West is comprised of lots of sexy scenes between the two. Different fantasies and scenarios to spice up their marriage. The problem for me is that Dean never seems professionally content. As his reputation grows so do the offers. It's only natural for the cream to rise to the top and his expertise will make him attractive to many different colleges and agencies. This latest offer is no exception. Liv has followed him from place to place while he pursued his dreams and now that she finally has put down roots, is it fair to ask her to give them up and start all over?
There's some mild angst in this and plenty of steamy sex. Most of the discourse in their lives is self inflicted. They are simply too busy. Common sense should tell them if you have just about every hour of the day taken up with some activity, something has to suffer. No one can do it all 24/7. I'm not sure that either one of them learned this lesson. To be honest, Adore was a little off for me. Maybe it was the fact that Dean's career is once more dictating their lives, or maybe it was too many sex scenes. (yes, sometimes less is more) I'm a lover of the Spiral Bliss series and although this one wasn't my favorite, it's still worth checking out.

Olivia and Dean West have it all-a wonderful marriage, a beautiful baby, successful careers. Then what is missing? Olivia's shop she owns with her friend Allie is taking off. She has immersed herself deeply in Mirror Lake and along with the cafe, and planning parties, she is involved with the historical society and she's taken on the town's Bicentennial festival. Dean has been constantly traveling and is being courted for the open position of the Assistant Director of the World Heritage Center in Paris.
When Dean is home, the days where Olivia could devote all her time to being with him are long gone. As if she wasn't busy enough with the cafe and her volunteering, her son Nicholas is 2 and at the age where he can be found clinging to her leg like a little spider monkey. She's exhausted by bedtime and there hasn't been a lot of sexy time with her professor. Both of them are feeling that loss.
