Title: Sweet Spot for Victoria
Series: A Men of Baseball Novella
Author: Hayley Faiman
Genre: Contemporary Romance, Sports
Release Date: February 14, 2016
Victoria fell in love with Carlos when she was just a young teenager. Two kids, once successful pro-baseball career, and almost two decades later, she's sure she doesn't want to live her life with anyone else. But when news of another baby on the way collides with her already hectic life, the veil of complacency is removed and panic takes its place.
Carlos marched Victoria down to the church as soon as she was eighteen years old, resolute that she was the love of his life. Fourteen years later, he doesn't regret his decision for even a second. Their life is beautiful, if not a bit crazy, and he loves his little family. But when his Vic starts acting strange, the secrets she keeps causes him to worry that he just might lose the woman who holds his heart.
When truths are revealed on a romantic weekend away with friends, all hell breaks loose. As things begin to unravel, Carlos has to decide what he's willing to sacrifice to regain his Sweet Spot.
*Recommended for readers 18+ due to graphic sexual content and language.
*** This is a Novella for the Men of Baseball Series, and should be read after the entire series for full comprehension of characters mentioned.
Carlos' fame as a hot shot ball player may have challenged their marriage over the years-the long absences on the road, the cleat chasers always looking to score with the players, the paparazzi stirring up rumors, the pressure to stay on top of their game. But they've been together (married?) for fourteen years and have two gorgeous kids. Victoria, by her own admission, insists on doing it all. She doesn't work outside the house, but she cooks, bakes, cleans, takes care of the house and her kids, and is pulled in a million different directions. She refuses to hire help and can't help but think her mother had five kids, worked full time and never had help. She can do it all.
My mother raised five of us while working full time and she never hired help. My parents couldn't afford to hire help, even if they desperately needed it. I would feel selfish if I hired nannies and housekeepers. I don't work, why on earth do I need the help?
All I can say about that is...girl we NEED to talk!
But Victoria's world is just about to change-big time change. She has been after Carlos to get a vasectomy. They are content with two kids and both are under the age of five. With Carlos' long absences while he plays on the road, Victoria has enough to handle. When she realizes she's pregnant again, she begins to panic. She confides in her best friends Libby and concocts a plan to have all their friends spend a weekend together. She'll break the news to Carlos at the same time. (I never really got why she was so reluctant to tell him, he's the one who wouldn't get a vasectomy)
I am nervous as hell to tell him about this future baby of ours. I know Carlos will be fine with it but I'm not sure that I am.
The weekend away is a great avenue to check out how the other couples from the series are making out-Jarrod and Amalie, Jackson and Maggie and Pete and Libby. But the weekend spirals out of control and a wedge drives Carlo and Victoria apart. Just about now is when I want to stick pins in a voodoo doll of Carlos. This guy needs to get a clue (not to mention a foot up his behind!)
"Does this change how you feel about her? Does this change how much you love her?" I ask, lifting a brow in question.
We were surviving getting through the day-to-day activities of our lives but we weren't blissfully enjoying being together. Loving each other.

Victoria and Carlos have been married forever. Literally right out of high school. Sixteen year old Carlos took one look at 14 year old Victoria and he was a goner. He never had eyes for anyone else. They were each other's first and only's and neither has ever strayed.
Even fourteen years later, I'm still hot for my Chile Pepper.

"Never. I have loved Victoria since she was fourteen years old. Nothing she does could make me not love her. She's mine, without her I'm not whole."
I love that the "established" couple are the ones having the problems right now. They were starting to take each other for granted and shaking things up a bit is just what they needed to get their priorities straight. They are crazy about each other (and the sex is off the charts in this story!) but a little angst makes for a great story!
