I was born a fighter. Abandoned by my parents, I spent my life forging my own path—one guided by my fists and paved with pain.
Untouchable in the ring, I destroyed everyone who faced me, but that’s where my victories ended. Outside the ropes, I repeatedly failed the few people who loved me. Including my best friend, Liv James—the one person I’d die to protect.
Even though I didn’t deserve her, Liv never stopped believing in me. Never gave up. Never let go. After all, she understood what I’d lost, because she’d lost it too.
Liv was everything to me, but she was never truly mine.
That was going to change.
I lost my first love, but I refused to lose my soulmate.
Now, I’m on the ropes during the toughest battles of my life.
Fighting to be the man she deserves.
Fighting the solitude of our pasts.
Fighting for her.

Review by Natasha Gentile

What do we know about Aly Martinez?  Well we know that she is a nice person, depending on who you ask.  She is known to butter you up and then just come up and kick you in the heart.  I mean kick you is a little violent;  what I mean is that she yanks open your chest and rips your heart out, tossing it over her shoulder thinking meh, why keep that there.

In the last Fighting book I actually called her on the phone.  That’s right people I called her.  While she was in line getting lunch I yelled at her for killing a major character.  I mean seriously dude must you always kill someone.  Why why why would you do that? I mean this poor boy's girlfriend is dead after everything he’s been through!  She laughed at me of course, because that is what evil people do, and I think she said I can’t talk now I’m busy.

Ugh really..It was long distance and she brushes me off.  Pfft, fine I’ll just message her later.  She had one sentence. IT WILL BE FINE.  Ugh how?  But lo and behold she starts writing and you are mesmerized with it.

I was born a fighter. Abandoned by my parents, I spent my life forging my own path—one guided by my fists and paved with pain.

We fell in love with Quarry Page when he was a small little lost boy.  With brothers like Till and Flint you knew that he was going to grow up to be the biggest and the baddest of them all.

Untouchable in the ring, I destroyed everyone who faced me, but that’s where my victories ended.

This book begins with  Q when he was an innocent boy hanging out at the gym passing time.  He didn’t want to be there; he had no choice.  But it got better when Liv James came into his life.

Leo James' little girl made friends with Quarry Page.  It was the good and the bad.  It was also the beginning of an amazing friendship.  A friendship that was years and years in the making, until one day when he broke her heart.

Outside the ropes, I repeatedly failed the few people who loved me.
Including my best friend, Liv James—the one person I’d die to protect.

This was the second time in the book that the tears welled up, my breath started getting shallow and I had to step away- the ache in my chest was just too much.  Of course when I told Aly she said oh, it’s fine.

Liv never stopped believing in me. Never gave up. Never let go. After all, she understood what I’d lost, because she’d lost it too.

Losing Liv’s friendship was something that Quarry never got over.  Imagine his surprise when out of the blue she shows up again and it’s like she never ever left, except now Quarry comes with a plus one.  Awkward.

I mean obviously she loved him no matter how much time went by.  Not one to bow down Mia makes sure that she weaves her way into Liv’s life and just like that the three of them form a friendship that will last eternity.

But then things change. Liv and Quarry grow together, they build a life together, best friends  is what they are.  Until one day.

Liv was everything to me, but she was never truly mine.
That was going to change.

One drunken night turns into a eye opener, one confession, one touch, one look and everything isn’t shaded anymore.

The love that they built can’t be just as friends, although that's the foundation of their love.  It’s the building of their walls that takes time, and understanding.  You see Q knows that Liv is his.  That in the end it was supposed to be her, but Liv she needs a push, she needs a nudge and with Q she know that when he fights he fights to win.

Now, I’m on the ropes during the toughest battles of my life.
Fighting to be the man she deserves.
Fighting the solitude of our pasts.
Fighting for her.

So the house they build together is filled with love, it’s filled with laughter, it’s filled with heart aches, so much heart ache, it’s filled with hope, it’s filled with the promise that he will love her.  Every. Single. Day.

And just like that Aly makes me love her.  This book is the best writing that she has ever done, and I have loved everything that she has written.  But this book, this story is nothing like I thought it would be.

The Page brothers journey is complete now and with it came the best stories that she could have given us…minus the killings and stuff..
