Relese Blitz: Thursday Afternoon by Beth Rinyu

SYNOPSIS
I'm just your typical working girl who never mixes business with pleasure. Although some may say my business is all about pleasure. For the past four years, I’ve allowed my profession to define me, distancing myself from family, friends and most of all love. Hating the reflection I see staring back at me in the mirror, I muddle through each day with my heart sealed off like a tomb, until two strangers enter my life.

One teaching me the true meaning of friendship.

The other teaching me the true meaning of love.

She’s everything I’m not.

Humble, loving, and devoting her life to others.

We’re an unlikely duo who are polar opposites, but at the same time so alike.

Never in a million years could I be friends with someone like her...until I was.

Then there’s him.

He’s my Thursday afternoon client.

Just like all the others: handsome, rich and charming…yet so very different.

Trying to overcome a painful past, he seeks out my services as a refuge, only to find that we’re opening our hearts to each other in ways that neither of us could've imagined.

I could never fall in love with someone like him...until I did.

And now I'm finding myself longing for it to be Thursday afternoon all week long.

Review by Jen Skewes

I really loved this book.  I think that it is a little different than what Ms. Rinyu writes and there is one part of this book that was a little unique for me which is what I loved.  Thursday Afternoon was a fantastic story that was filled with twist and turns that I did not see coming.  A beautiful story about love but also about a friendship that was so different.  I loved every minute of this book but it was the surprises that I think made it even better.

When Bree made the decision to become a call girl she hoped that maybe she would still have a relationship with her father and her brother.  She soon found out that they weren’t exactly happy about her new career choice.  But this is her choice and as long as she needs the money she will continue.  She has some very rich high-class clients that she could easily fall for but, this is just a job.  She never gets attached to any of them.  Until she meets Simon Grace and everything changes.

Simon Grace is sexy and sweet and everything that you could want in a man.  When Bree first meets with him things don’t go as they normally do.  It seems that maybe Simon is looking for more than just sex from a stranger who he has paid to be with.  But regardless of what he is looking for she suddenly finds herself looking forward to her Thursday afternoon appointment.

As they spend more time together they both realize that this is more than just a business relationship.  They are falling for each other, but in her line of work they could never happen.  They have both had their struggles with love and their past.  Can they find a way to be together and be happy?

This book was not just about the love story between Bree and Simon.  It was also about the friendship she formed with a woman named Hannah.  I am not sure which relationship I loved more.  I won’t tell you how she meets Hannah or too much about her but their friendship was one of unconditional love and no judgements at all.  Hannah was everything that Bree wasn’t, they were complete opposites but their friendship was just so real and so beautiful to see.

Now Simon was a man that I absolutely loved.  There was so much more to this man than what you first see.  You wonder why he would need to pay to be with someone but you see why.  You begin to understand how his life is and there are times when he just needs some time for himself and well if that is the way he wants to spend it then so be it…lol  But it is more than that and hearing his story will just make you love him more. He is sexy, sweet and caring and I loved him.

Bree is a woman who I loved and it did not matter to me what she did for a living.  I felt bad for her current family situation but she was a tough and independent girl and I loved her for it.

Once again Beth Rinyu has written a story that captured me from the very beginning to the very end.  It is a wonderful love story that is intertwined with a beautiful friendship, both very heart warming to see.  There were twists that I never saw coming and completely shocked me, and there wasn’t just one.  This story felt real and nothing about the twists felt too over the top. It all flowed perfectly and fit right in with the story.  Another great job by Ms. Rinyu.

EXCERPT

“You’re my new-fallen snow, Simon.”
He stared down at me in confusion.
My thumbs skimmed the sides of his face, with the glow of the moon providing just enough light to make out his perfect features. “Each new-fallen snow is a second chance to get it right. Thank you for giving me the chance to prove not only to you, but to myself that I’m more than who I once was.”
“You’re so much more.” His voice was low and hoarse. “God, I didn’t think it was possible to want you any more than I already did, but you never cease to amaze me.”

He had a right to remain suffocated by his pain.
She had a right to remain silent about hers.

For better or for worse.
Those were the vows that I had taken with my wife six years ago. We had lived through the better and were barely getting through the worse. I tried to face our loss together, while she chose to have an affair instead.
Time apart was what we both needed.
What I didn’t expect in that time was her.
The beauty she possessed on the outside was a far cry from the scars she was harboring on the inside. She wasn’t looking for love and neither was I. She just needed someone to help her deal with the pain she had been carrying around for the past two years, and I was happy to oblige.
I wasn’t supposed to fall in love with her, but suddenly I was seeing a future that I never dreamed of right in front of my eyes….only to find that the past had other things in mind for us.
***
I always believed that we only got one true love in life, and mine was gone and never coming back.
Through the tear-filled nights and never ending days, I was slowly and tortuously coming to terms with the pain that was my reality.
And then he entered my life.
Tall, handsome, genuine and caring, he was a friend when I needed one most. Together, we were a temporary fix to our own permanent pain. Just two people helping each other to get through a very dark period in life.
But when the light begins to shine ever so slightly with each passing day, and his face is all I can see at the end of that tunnel…..do I run back into the darkness or move into the light with him?
