The Rake, an all new emotional and angsty romance from Wall Street Journal bestselling author L.J. Shen is coming February 16th and we have the first look at the stunning cover!

Boston’s most infamous femme fatale meets her match in a dangerously mild Englishman who has vowed to never marry.

Emmabelle Penrose has cruised through life never needing a man, a plan that has worked stunningly well until about five minutes ago, when she decided she must have a baby.

Devon Whitehall is 6’2” of premium DNA, financial security, and British royal titles. Best of all, he fears the one thing she dreads the most: getting hitched.

Emmabelle figures it’s a no-brainer when Devon offers his services—sperm and involvement in her future child’s life.

What begins as an innocent, modern-family arrangement, quickly erodes into a web of lies, dark pasts, and unfurled secrets.

Inside this chaos, Emmabelle and Devon are forced to face the awful truth—they are capable of love.

Even worse, they might feel it toward each other.

Review by Lisa Kane
3.5 Stars

This is the third book of Emma Chase's Getting Some series. I read the first one, Getting Schooled but not the second-Getting Played. Characters from the previous books are in this one too.

Connor Daniels is an immensely talented ER doctor who is pretty much raising three sons on his own. His ex-wife seems to have had a personality transplant and has little time or interest in her own kids. So Connor is juggling a crazy busy work schedule with three very different sons with very different interests. His youngest is hurt by his mom's indifference and the oldest acts as if it doesn't affect him at all. Connor liked being married, he liked belonging with someone. He thought his marriage would be life long, until his ex let him know that wasn't her plan. He misses being in a relationship-hook ups hold no interest for him.

Violet Robinson is a nurse working at the same hospital as Connor. She's fairly new to the town of Lakeside, but she's good at her job and is a hard worker. Getting the respect of her colleagues took some time, but she's earned it. Now getting Connor Daniels to notice her-that seems just about impossible. Of course he's witnessed her clumsiness when she's around him, she's a bit quirky but her nerves just seem to take over when she sees him.

Little does she know, but she is very much on Connor's radar. But let's face it, she's thirty to his forty-two and he has three kids. That's just too many differences. But he still appreciates a glimpse of her when he gets one.

I get a dirty thrill every time I hear about one of Violet's dates going down the drain. I realize this is wrong on every level. I've heard Vi talking relationships, maybe marriage, at some point in the future. If I'm not planning to make a move, I should be wishing her a long, happy relationship with some other worthy guy.
But...I'm just not that good of a person.

In the meantime, there's nothing happening between them. Up until some well meaning friends tip the hand of fate. Theirs is a slow burn, friends but with tons of chemistry going on in their scrubs.

Getting Real has some serious moments, the ones that hurt your heart and make you thankful that this is a book and not something playing out on a news cast. But there's a ton of humor (Vi is quite the poet, don't you know it???)

Both characters' POV's are in the story, adding layers to some more insight into their motivations. There is not one, but two (!) epilogues. Books without epilogues are like a dinner out without having dessert. So wrong on every level.

"You are my real life. I love you, Violet. I'm so in love with you, I can't even see straight."

Release Blitz: Baby Please Mimi Jean Pamfiloff

Baby, Please by Mimi Jean Pamfiloff is now live!

From New York Times Bestseller Mimi Jean Pamfiloff comes a Surprise Baby Romantic Comedy, BABY, PLEASE.  (Standalone story.)

Ever since I was recruited by my college football team, I've pushed myself hard. Going pro and earning some real money is a must. Mostly because my brother, Flip, is in a bad place, and I'm all he's got.

No problem. I'm tough. I'm a hard worker. I've got a plan.

Then right before the season starts, a woman shows up at my apartment with a baby, claiming I'm the father. And then she leaves her with me. For a week? Forever?

I have no idea, but college, football, and the single-dad gig don't go together. And forget about my experience with babies. Does this thing come with an off switch? Volume control? Is that a poopie diaper? Help!

Things go from bad to worse when the public catches wind of my surprise-baby situation, and it turns into a PR nightmare. I'm suddenly the poster boy for young single dads.

This isn't happening.

Suddenly, all eyes are on me, both on and off the field, and the only person who can keep me from losing my mind confesses her love.

And I mess it all up. Her, football, baby, everything.

Now I'm going to have to choose: fix my career or fix my personal life, including coming to grips with loving a baby girl who might not be mine.

Release Blitz for Enemies Abroad by RS Grey

R.S. Grey’s next standalone rom-com, Enemies Abroad, is out now! Check it out and be sure to get your copy today!

About Enemies Abroad:

It’s simple: Noah Peterson and I are enemies. Our fellow teachers know it, our friends know it—even the Starbucks drive-through lady knows it since every Monday she scrawls the name A. Hole for me on Noah’s cappuccino when I pick up the weekly group order.

The shrill whine of the school bell announces the start of each day’s no-holds-barred grudge match. Since neither of us is looking to get fired or thrown in prison, we war with our words and our wits. We prefer banter that bites. All day, I’m on edge, looking around every corner, expecting him to do his worst. Just when I think I can’t take the sight of his (regretfully) handsome face for one more minute, the school day is done.

Summer usually offers the sweetest relief—a two-month Noah detox—but not this year.

“We need two volunteers to chaperone a group of eighth graders in Rome” becomes a game of chicken neither one of us is willing to lose. We both want that bonus check.

“Back out,” I tell him.

“Scared?” he taunts.

No one thinks it’s a good idea for us to go to Rome together, least of all me. Taking this battle abroad will only lead to mayhem and misery.

DING. Ladies and gentlemen of flight UA447 with service to Rome, fasten your seatbelts.

We’re bound to have a bumpy ride.

Lisa Kane

4.5 Stars!

I adore this author's stories! She's funny, her characters are usually a little quirky with some sass thrown in and are truly likable. The heroines may be a little insecure sometimes, but they are strong and there's not a doormat to be found. The guys are usually a little bossy, confidant but not obnoxious. The pages of her romances fly as I devour their stories.

Enemies Abroad fits right into my description. Audrey Cohen and Noah Peterson are both teachers at the same middle school. Their classrooms are right next to each other and their relationship-well they aren't exactly enemies but they seem to push each other's buttons. The reader only has Audrey's POV (except for a short epilogue from Noah's) so while we know Audrey's thoughts, we can only pick up on Noah's from Audrey. And sometimes those are way off base.

When an accident leaves an opening for two teachers to chaperone a three week class trip to Italy, along with a $2500 bonus, both Noah and Audrey show interest. Neither one backs down and they are both Italy bound!

Noah is not your average supervillain. "Radiating kindness" and "using clear and concise communication" will not help me here. I need to know how to set trip wires with dental floss, how to whittle my lip liner down to a shank in fifteen seconds flat, how to survive on a diet of spite for twenty-one days straight.

Audrey is a rigid planner. That's actually putting it mildly. She prefers every minute of the day to be precisely arranged and to follow the schedule. Not possible with nine kids with strong wills. Noah is struggling with his jealousy (Audrey for some reason doesn't pick up on this!) over the Italian guide assigned to the study abroad groups. Lorenzo, the guide, seems to have quite the interest in Audrey.

"Should we set up some ground rules?" he finally asks.

My heart skips a beat then races to catch up.

"Like what?"

"Like no sleeping with the program director?"

Now it's my turn to hold back a snort.

"Finding your tempted?" I hold my hands in defeat. "Hey, go for it."

Noah doesn't like my cutesy act.

Nothing like a little competition to light a fire under a certain hero's butt. Audrey is pretty dense when it comes to Noah's interest. She's suspicious of any gesture he makes. I have to say, she got on my nerves. As much as it seemed they shared mutual disdain for each other, really it's Audrey who keeps that going. Noah feeds off of her reactions. The lady doth protest too much.

"You think I'm going to up and leave you at the airport when we fly back to the States? Check you off my list? Nice knowin' ya?"

It would be impossible for these two not to explore their feelings in the Eternal City. The descriptions of the excursions, the glorious food and desserts and the vibrancy of Rome...just add to this story.

Enemies Abroad is well worth the trip, think of it as a vacation for your romantic soul without all the pesky packing.

"It was only a matter of time."

Cover Reveal for Penelope Ward's The Assignment

Title: The Assignment
Author: Penelope Ward
Genre: Standalone Contemporary Romance
Cover Design: Letitia Hasser, RBA Designs
Photographer: Scott Hoover
Model: Jay Byars
Release Date: February 28, 2022

From New York Times bestselling author Penelope Ward, comes a new standalone novel.
Reasons why I should not be drawn to Troy Serrano.
Number one: He’s obnoxious.
Number two: He and I were enemies over a decade ago in high school.
Number three: He’s my friend’s ex-boyfriend.
I could go on and on, really.
When my boss gives me an unwanted assignment and tells me it involves spending time with the grandson of one of our residents—the grandson turns out to be Troy. He’s now as successful as he is undeniably handsome.
Lucky me. Four hours a week of having to deal with his insufferable personality and unsolicited advice.
The only consolation is getting to stare at his annoyingly gorgeous face in between our many arguments.
Eventually, though, we slowly warm to each other and our outings become something I actually look forward to.
What’s happening to me?
Apparently, I misunderstood the assignment, because it certainly didn’t include thinking about Troy when I close my eyes at night, imagining what it would be like with him—just once. All the while hating myself for fantasizing about a guy who’s all wrong for me. A guy whose car I keyed back in the day. (Long story, but he deserved it.)
That’s all this is—a fantasy.
Well, until that one night at the bar.
The night Troy and I run into each other, and all of our pent-up frustration comes barreling out.
Still, I refuse to accept that it means anything.
There’s no way the guy I’m supposed to hate is also the one I can’t live without.
