Release Blitz: Summertime by Willow Aster

Summertime by Willow Aster is now live!

Summertime, where the living's easy...

At least that's what I'd hoped for when I decided to visit Hollywood's most sought-after director, AKA my usually absentee father, for the summer. But my vision of an idyllic break before starting grownup life after college comes to a halt when my dad puts me to work on his set.

As an aspiring screenwriter, I'm eager for any experience, but my time is spent as the errand girl, fulfilling every whim of Hollywood's IT actor, the flirtatious, too-sexy-for-his-own-good Liam Taylor. As the shiny new girl, Liam thinks he has to have me, but his bad-boy persona turns me off, and I don't want to be another notch on his bedpost.

Then there's Hudson Callihan, the hot up-and-coming director working with my dad. He's everything I think I want in a guy. What starts out as a friendship becomes a secret relationship, and I fall hard.

Things become complicated with Hudson when I'm thrown into a fake relationship with Liam to soften his scandalous reputation. And living on set with both guys and the crew is becoming more and more difficult.

I came to LA expecting to have a good time, but what I didn't expect was to be faced with making the biggest decision of my life.

Review by Jen Skewes

I really enjoyed this book.  It seems like it has been a while since I gave read a Willow Aster book, so of course I was excited to read Summertime.  This was one of those books that once you start reading you cannot stop.  A Hollywood star, fake relationship, love triangle.  Why wouldn't I want to read this one?

Summer has just graduated college and is looking forward to spending her summer with her father, who is a big Hollywood Director.  Wanting to be a writer herself this is great opportunity for her.  But what awaits her there is not what she expected.

A gorgeous man who is her fathers right hand manned an up and coming director, a Hollywood heart throb, a Hollywood starlet who she must now cater to and of course her absentee father who she is spending the summer with. She didn't exactly sign up for the job she was given, but then things get even more complicated when she is put in a position to be the fake girlfriend of Liam, the Hollywood heart throb.  How is she supposed to be in a fake relationship with Liam when she is in a secret one with Hudson?  Oh what a dilemma!!

I do not want to go into too much detail because I do not want to give any details away regarding this love triangle.  I will say that there was one man that I was not sure I trusted from the start, while the other I felt was truly genuine when it came to his feelings for Charlotte.  In the end it was he perfect ending!!

This was a fun, quick read with just the right amount of drama and angst. The hero that I loved was the perfect book boy friend.  He truly had my heart.  A perfect summer read!!

Review by Jen Skewes

I knew that this book was coming but hen I received the ARC earlier than I expected, it completely made my day.  I dove right in and devoured this book in one day.

Their Reign is the final installment of this trilogy.  I truly wasn't sure what to expect as we were left with another cliff hanger.  But the beginning of this book took a turn that I was not expecting.  But one that I loved. Judge has just endured an unbeliever amount go pain in order to protect Mercedes, only to later find out that she is missing.  Mercedes has a plan, and it didn't include Judge.  she needed to move away from him because with the news she had, so much would change.  When Judge does find her, and hears her news he has no idea what will happen next.

They do spend some time apart from each that but I think they both need to in order to truly come to terms with their new reality but also the deep love that they have for each other.  Plus they also need to deal with the Society and what will happen once they find out, especially Santiago.

This was the perfect ending to this story.  This trilogy brought out so many emotions.  Mercedes and Judge had their ups and downs, twists and turns, fights that left you wondering where this story would go next, but a love so deep the you could feel it, regardless of how they may have treated each other at times.  It was raw, gritty and intense.  And everything that I would  expect and love from this writing duo.  Their Reign was a little less raw and gritty but it had the right amount of everything.  This is where you really see the love they have for each other.  Another amazing job by this writing duo.  I hope to read more from them in the future.

Trinette Dungee's 4 Star Review!

Thalia Clairmont lives happily on her ranch in Wyoming. Her parents are no longer with her, but she wants to continue to grow their legacy on the ranch they left to her. While she’s happy, she admits to sometimes feeling like something is missing. Thalia’s life is soon turned upside down when she is attacked by creatures in her barn one night and is then rescued by two brothers Bastien and Kieran Dunne who are just as unbelievable as the creatures attacking her.

The brothers inform her that they are there to not only rescue her but return her to their realm to help save their home, Vyronas, where she just happens to be the heir to the throne. Although everything they tell Thalia sounds completely crazy to her, deep down she believes them and somewhat reluctantly follows them. When she returns to the other realm things come back to her like the fact that she and Bastien not only have a past, but they were deeply in love and engaged. She discovers that it was Bastien who made the decision to send her away and not only erase her memories of her home and him, but he opted to erase her from his heart with no memory of what it was like to love her.

Thalia is also relearning her powerful magic, but at the same time learns that her magic is not enough to defeat Ferelith, the sorceress who is using blood magic to take over Vyronas and that she herself may have to learn this forbidden magic to defeat Ferelith.

Seven years ago, Bastien Dunne made two very difficult decisions. The first was to send Thalia to the First Dimension known as Earth with no memories of her old life to protect her, and the second was to have the love he felt for her removed from his heart. The day has come for Thalia to return to home to take her throne and help defeat the evil Sorceress Ferelith. Bastien’s main goal is to keep Princess Thalia protected at any cost, but he’s finding that his heart may not be completely empty of his feelings for her.

This is book number 6 in a series, so if you haven’t read the previous books, I’d suggest reading those first. I’m not saying it’s one hundred percent necessary to read them, but it will help in understanding the dynamics of Thalia and Bastien’s world better. I don’t dislike paranormal books, but I don’t necessarily flock to them either. Admittedly I picked up this series because it’s a work of Sawyer Bennett and this series is a departure from her typical books, but once again I am not disappointed.

There wasn’t much I didn’t like about this story. There was just the right balance of reality and fantasy. Although some of the descriptions were heavy on the mystical and I had to reread a few sections, it wasn’t so much that it overpowered the basis of the story which was second chance love/romance. I liked every character, which is odd, because they were so well written that even the worst of the worst had some type of appeal to them.

I immediately connected with Bastien from page one. I don’t know what it was, but I knew from the moment I read the first words about him, I’d like him. Like the story itself, Bastien was well balanced. He was dark and broody at times, but his vulnerability was very present. He openly expressed his mixed emotions about Thalia. There was something about the way he was written that made him more “real”. I really felt this when Bastien visits Merrilyn. Typically, the Hero’s past is glossed over. It’s known that he had past relationships, but no real details are given.

Bastien’s past is directly dealt with, it’s made clear that it’s been sever years since Thalia has been ripped from his life and he hasn’t been living the life of a monk. It’s also made very clear that there was a constant in his life during that time, Merrilyn. It’s here where I felt like I got the first glimpse of his vulnerability because he makes it clear that while he cared for Merrilyn, their relationship will only ever be physical. You could see that somewhere deep down, Thalia was still in his heart.

Thalia has a lot going on. On top of reacclimating herself to her old life and dealing with what she considers the ultimate betrayal for Bastien; she’s still in love with him. She also learns that she she’s not exactly who she thought she was and she has a direct link to the very blood magic that she fears. Sometimes in stories when the heroine learns she’s not who she initially thought she was, their “acceptance” of their role can be a little annoying, but I didn’t get that with Thalia. It took her a minute to get her footing but once she did, I enjoyed her growth. I liked how she was determined to get Bastien to allow himself to feel again, but she didn’t come off as needy or whiney.

There is always that one character, aside from the main characters, who kind of steals the show and/or your heart and in this story, it was Kieran, Bastien’s brother. I adored him! He was Bastien’s “Jiminy Cricket”, as well as Thalia’s shoulder to lean on, and the comic relief when needed. I don’t know if he needs his own story, but I’d definitely like to see more of him in the future.

There are other characters that are introduced who had me on the edge of my seat trying to figure out if they would be friend or foe- like Thalia’s uncle who was banned from Vyronas for using “blood magic”, Thalia’s cousin Archer, and Bastien’s ex-lover Merrilyn. The biggest question mark being the powerful dark fae Amell, who was Zora’s guardian in the previous books of this series. He plays a major role in Thalia accepting who she truly is and learning to use what is deep inside of her to defeat Ferelith. There’s also a visit or two from Maddox (swoon).

If you read the other books in the series, you know the majority were cliffhangers. I AM NOT a fan of cliffhangers but thankfully there wasn’t a long wait for the next books. Going into The Shadow Princess I assumed it too would be a cliffhanger, so I prepared myself. I happy to report that it is not a cliffhanger, and you’ll get your HEA at the end of the book, but the ride there has some angsty moments.

This is a quick read and would be a nice poolside or beach day read. If you haven’t read the series, I’d suggest adding it to your summer reading list.

Release Blitz for RS Grey's My Professor

We’re so excited that R.S. Grey is releasing her new romcom, My Professor!  Check it out and be sure to grab your copy now!

Title: My Professor

Author: R.S. Grey

Genre: Romantic Comedy

About My Professor:

Young and naïve—those are his exact words.

Professor Barclay views me as a nuisance, a disruption of his otherwise obedient class and perfectly regimented life. His bad impression of me stems from a simple misunderstanding, and when that impression sours from bad to worse, he decides to make an example out of me in front of the entire class. Every other female student in that auditorium looks on, longing to trade places with me, wishing they were the object of his attention. It’s humiliating. I want nothing to do with him or the tension growing between us, but he feels inescapable.

Deep down, I know I have a crush on him. It’s a shameful feeling I refuse to give life to.

Not that it matters—nothing can come from it. Besides our mutual dislike for one another and the fact that he’s my professor, there’s an age gap that should be warning enough.

While we might cross the line once—the dark glance across a dimly lit bar…the metallic sound of the bathroom door locking behind us…his hand slowly sliding up my skirt—I know it’s a boundary I can’t break again.

Now, more than ever, he’s off-limits.

After four years apart, I’m a brand-new hire at his firm. I’ve convinced myself he won’t remember me. I’m safe here in the wolf’s den.

It’s funny, isn’t it? How easily we can delude ourselves if only we want something bad enough.

Nothing has changed.

That same friction roils between us. My gaze still flees from the chill of his glacier blue eyes. At times it seems the only difference is how I respond to his commands.

He’s my new boss, so it’s no longer “Yes, Professor”.

He expects something a little different—

Yes, sir.

Lisa Kane's 4 Star Review!

I've read all of this author's books and I can honestly say, this one is the most seductive. It has a cat and mouse feel to it, although both the hero and the heroine alternate both rules through out the story.

Emilia Mercier is a student attending Dartmouth college, along with her best friend Sonya. They, along with a room full of women are anxious to lay their eyes on Jonathan Barclay, who teaches a class on restorative architecture. Their first day of that class does not go well. Jonathan has had a hell of a day, when he sees Emilia and Sonya chatting-it's not what he thinks but he singles Emilia out and embarrasses her. But what she doesn't know is that he has seen her before, many times to his pleasure.

Things go from bad to worse in this class and Emilia is forced by her professor to withdraw. There is so much push and pull between them. He wants her, he acts annoyed by her. She wants him, but he both intimidates her and pulls her in, wanting him to want her. They are a disaster.

Fast forward four years have gone by and they have had no communication. But Jonathan's company (oh yes, he owns a huge restoration company amongst other interests) is awarded a contract to reconstruct a building of great historic interest and Emilia is dying to work on it (she has her own reasons for wanting to learn how to restore buildings) and she applies for a position. Yes, she knows he owns the company, but she is hoping he either doesn't remember her or he will just ignore her. Of course she gets the job, and of course Jonathan does anything but pretend he doesn't remember her.

She is no longer his student, the age difference between them is non longer an issue, but he is her employer. Maybe after all these years, the games between them will end? Maybe not. It seemed like every time that she wants him, he tries to push her away, when he tries his seductive wiles on her, she pulls away. But finally....

My Professor is a little naughty, a little seductive, a lot sexy and deliciously addictive.
