Hendrix: A Pittsburgh Titans Novel
Sawyer Bennett
Release Date: June 6, 2023
Synopsis:
Hendrix Bateman is one of The Lucky Three, a trio of players who were not on the Titan’s team plane the night it crashed. Feeling as if he’s been given a second chance, Hendrix is determined to make the most out of his life, but that doesn’t mean he’s not suffering from scars that can’t be seen.
When I lost my Titan brothers in the crash, it was a mixed bag of emotions. I was devastated and grief stricken, but I was also grateful to be alive. Yeah, that might cause a little—okay, a lot of—guilt, but now I’m determined to live each day as if it’s my last.
A night out with friends puts me in the crosshairs of Stevie Kisner—the devastatingly beautiful bar owner with a sharp tongue and a fire in her eyes that lets me know she has zero tolerance for guys like me. I’ve never been one to back away from a challenge, so I’m not dissuaded by Stevie’s tough as nails attitude or her big biker dad who looks like he wants to kill me. Fueled by too many shots and the raucous urging of my teammates, I set out to show Stevie I’ve got game both on and off the ice.
While I shouldn’t be looking for anything more than a good time, I can’t help but be captivated by Stevie. She’s cool as hell and we burn hot together. But the more I get to know her, the more I can tell she’s holding something in reserve, and let’s just say I’ve got some trust issues after my last disastrous attempt at a relationship. Now I need to decide if I’m going to let my past dictate my future or if I am willing to put my heart on the line to find out if Stevie is exactly what I think she is—my everything.

Trinette Dungee's 3 Star Review
The devastating crash that took the lives of the Pittsburgh Titans left an effect on everyone including Hendrix Bateman. Deemed one of the “lucky three” along with two other teammates who were not aboard that fateful crash Hendrix in the mindset of “life is short”, so he’s making every minute count. Including getting out of an unhappy and toxic relationship and pursuing one Stevie Kisner.
Hendrix no stranger to catastrophic loss, since he suffered the loss of his sister he’s all to familiar how precious and fragile life can be. Because of that experience and the help of therapy, Hendrix is surprisingly well adjusted in coping with the loss. He’s definitely missing and thinks of his former teammates on a regular basis, but he seems to know how to channel the emotions of it all. When he meets bar owner Stevie Kisner, he’s knocked for a loop. Stevie is nothing like the women he’s dated in the past. She’s a bar chick who can wield a baseball bat to break up a fight like nobody’s business and can command a pool table like she was born to play the game; but Stevie’s not giving into him so easily. Never one to quit, Hendrix doesn’t let this deter him. He finally wears Stevie down and before you know it, he’s head over heels; but Stevie isn’t one to give her heart so easily.
Stevie Kisner is very familiar with “dead beat parents”, in this case it’s her mother who was the deadbeat. Abandoned by her mom at a young age she was raised solely by her dad who as far as she’s concerned, hangs the stars and the mom; even though her dad was perfect in every way, Stevie still has abandonment issues and longs for some type of relationship with her mom. So much so that she gives her mom chance after chance. Until her mother does something that jeopardizes her relationship with Hendrix. When Hendrix fails to give her the benefit of the doubt, Stevie is once again left feeling abandoned.
Hendrix’s story is short and sweet, low on angst, but high on passion. This is a cute “feel good” type of book and definitely a good pool side or beach day read this summer. It takes place in the fall/winter around the holidays so it almost seems like you can hold off and read it then to get all the “holiday feels”, and magical “I love you’s” that just gets you in the heart.
While Hendrix isn’t one of my top Titan’s books in the series, it’s definitely worth the read.
Up next in the Titan’s Series is Mr. Camden Poe, who is the third member of the lucky three. Can’t wait to see what he’s got for us.
