Release Blitz: Bastard Bachelor Society

What is the Bastard Bachelor Society?

It’s a gentleman’s club—like the dignified men of the past used to have.

Except, we’re not gentleman, and we’re not dignified.

We’re ineligible bachelors; bored, jaded and not looking for relationships. Quite the opposite actually

We’re so committed to being single, we’ve created a high stakes bet to see who can remain single the longest. Rules are involved. Prizes.

Laugh it up, but I’m no loser.

Enemy number one to my single status? My irresistible neighbor, Abbott Margolis. She with her evil cat Desdemona, and Sexy AF pencil skirts. She’s kind and beautiful and hilarious. We can’t get involved, no matter how much her meddling grandmother pushes us together. But if I was going to lose this bet for anyone? It would for Abbott.

Let’s face facts: I’m a bastard, unwilling to settle down.

Especially when there’s a bet to win.

Review by Lisa Kane

Brooks Bennett just got promoted at work. He's only been at his firm for a year, but he's a damn great architect. His words, not mine. He also comes across as immature and arrogant. Designing is his passion. But as hard as he works, he equally enjoys play time. Particularly at the local watering hole-The Basement-with his two best friends. He's a bit of a light weight when it comes to alcohol but that doesn't stop him from hanging out at the pub. His two friends, Blaine and Phillip take life and it's problems pretty lightly. The three amigos are usually up for anything.

Brooks is single and in no hurry to change that. Sometimes stupid ideas come out of rambling conversations.

"You know what I can't stand?" I begin rather abruptly, already a bit drunk.

Blaine rubs his hands together with glee.  "What?"
"Couples."

"Bastards are the new nice guys."

And from that conversation the Bastard Bachelor Society is born.

Abbott Margolis is sweet, funny, single and owns a cat related to Satan-Duchess Desdemona. She's worked her butt off to get where she is, and she's a self admitted giant nerd. Never mind that her family owns the business she works for-she can't help it if her family is rich beyond rich.

Blame an elevator ride with only Brooks and Abbott for their first official meeting. Abbott's seen Brooks around, but she doesn't want to be trapped in an enclosed space where she is looking a big loopy from a night of partying to be how he sees her. So she lets the elevator slam in his face instead of opening the door. I'm thinking he won't forget her easily, and not in a good way.

But a second meeting goes much better, in spite of a demon cat trying to do her best to scare off Brooks. An unlikely friendship is formed and then some lines become slightly blurred. But nothing can happen because Brooks and his buddies have a wager going in their little Bastard Bachelor club.

"Your girlfriend sure has an appetite."
"This is not my girlfriend," Brooks replies swiftly, correcting the nice man who's just handed me my dessert.

Just about now I'd like to swiftly hand something to Brooks.

Whatcha thinks gonna happen when Abbott finds out that Brooks is sworn off relationships?

Sara Ney's latest is funny and witty and had no problem catching my attention and keeping it. Desi, the cat is a real pistol. She deserves her own cat tale.

What's mine is mine.
What's hers is mine.

What's his is now mine, too.
