That’s my life—except it’s worse. My friend who keeps “jamming” me is my gay roommate and if that isn’t a W.T.F. moment, I’m not sure what is.

Fact: He went home with three—yes, three—of the guys I had been so sure were into me.

Fact: He’s really pissing me off. I mean, hello? I’m trying to get back in the saddle, but I’ll never manage to get a boyfriend before the age of fifty if he keeps this up.

The day I interviewed for the room to rent, everything changed. I knew I had met “the girl”, except there was one small problem: she didn’t want anything to do with men. I recognized a top-notch force field when I saw one. She’d been burned badly and didn’t want to deal with a heterosexual guy as a roommate. I could’ve turned around and found another place to live, but I wanted to live there—with her.

So I had to go “undercover”.

Fact: I’m in love with my roommate.

Fact: I’m a likely candidate for carpal tunnel surgery since all the action I’ve had for the past year has been my hand.

Fact: She’s going to hate me if I come clean now.

Fact: I’m not giving up. Which means, I’ll just have to continue to run defense until I figure out a way to get Maggie to see the “real” me.

The me that loves her.

The me that would never do her wrong.

Until then, I’ll keep running off every guy who shows any interest.

Until then, I’ll continue to Clam Jam.

This is my first read from author RC Boldt. It was funny, sexy and had great characters. Maggie Finegan just got screwed over when she found her longtime boyfriend and roommate screwing someone else. So now she's guy less, duped over and in dire financial straits. She can't make her rent by herself so she needs a roommate. But the last thing she wants is a guy. Too many complications.

Hello, my name is Maggie Finegan, and I'm mega lame.

Do they even have support groups for that?

Ryland James has had his eye on Maggie for a long time. But every times he's seen her, she's been with the same guy. When he finds out she's looking for a roommate, he knows this is his chance. When they finally meet face to face it's obvious there's an attraction between them, but then Maggie starts to back track. Ry knows he's going to lose his chance so on the fly he tells her he has no interest in women. Maggie is relived, a gay guy sharing a place-perfect.

I had spotted Maggie in the Starbucks around the corner from my office building. But she was always with a guy whom I assumed to be her fiance. And something about her captivated me.

But once Ry spins this tale, how does he get out of it? For almost a year, he does his best to block any dates that Maggie has-and that's where we get the term Clam Jam. Ry wants Maggie for himself but now he's friend zoned and gay zoned. What's a guy to do?

Maggie is struggling herself with her feelings for Ry. He's gay, she's straight, he's in a relationship with his best friend. Where does that leave her? She's had Heartbreak City already; she doesn't need to go down that road again.

I've just gone to all this trouble to try to make myself as pretty as possible for a guy. But not just any guy. For my roommate. For my gay roommate.

Clam Jam has some seriously funny banter. And the cute little use of napkins is adorbs. Although there are a couple of poignant moments, it's really a rom/com. Check this one out-it's going to tic off all those boxes you are looking for in a good read!

I want a guy who is not only the love of my life but my best friend, too.
