Release day Lauch: Suddenly Royal by Nicole Chase

SUDDENLY ROYAL Synopsis:
Samantha Rousseau is used to getting her hands dirty. Working toward a master’s degree in wildlife biology while helping take care of her sick father, she has no time for celebrity gossip, designer clothes, or lazy vacations. So when a duchess from the small country of Lilaria invites her to dinner, Samantha assumes it’s to discuss a donation for the program. The truth will change the course of her life in ways she never dreamed.

Alex D’Lynsal is trying to keep his name clean. As crown prince of Lilaria, he’s had his share of scandalous headlines, but the latest pictures have sent him packing to America and forced him to swear off women—especially women in the public eye. That is, until he meets Samantha Rousseau. She’s stubborn, feisty, and incredibly sexy. Not to mention heiress to an estate in his country, which makes her everyone’s front-page news.

While Sam tries to navigate the new world of politics and wealth, she will also have to dodge her growing feelings for Alex. Giving in to them means more than just falling in love; it would mean accepting the weight of an entire country on her shoulders.
Our 3.5 star review
Suddenly Royal is a cute read about Samantha Rousseau, a wildlife biologist who specializes in raptors. The grad student’s attempts to get some research done are thwarted when the Duchess Rose Sverelle of Dollange and her nephew Alex D’Lynsal of Lilaria are on the campus for a dedication. She is approached by one of the Duchess’ representatives and invited to join the two royals for dinner. Thinking she is standing in for her vacationing boss’ receipt of a donation for their department, she agrees to the invitation. She is instantly attracted to Alex at their first meeting. The Duchess seems to be familiar with her family and questions her about her late mother’s lineage. She tells Samantha that she is of royal ancestry and is really the Duchess Rousseau of Lilaria.

“Title?” My mind was mush. I couldn’t make sense of what they were telling me. “That can’t be right. There must’ve been a mistake. I’m not a duchess. I’m a grad student.”

Suffice it to say that Samantha’s life becomes a whirlwind.  While trying to deal with her father’s terminal illness, she now has to contend with the paparazzi camped out on her doorstep and her ever growing attraction to Prince “Yummy” as her roommate Jess calls him. While Jess and her boyfriend Bert try to help Samantha to resume some semblance of normalcy, her relationship with Alex heat up. Heating up means steamy encounters on kitchen countertops and soaking tubs, and of course the traditional bed.

“Ask me to kiss you.” “I can’t.” I wanted him to. I wanted him to kiss me badly. I wanted to not worry and to get lost in the moment. To get lost in him.

How these two manage to keep some small portion of their private life private and how Samantha comes to terms with her new notoriety fills the remainder of the story. As her father grows more ill, the demands on Samantha’s ever expanding royal duties list grows. This novel reminds me of the Princess Diaries. Queue the secret, newly discovered royal connection and the handsome, womanizing Prince. It is charming and sweet. Chase has surrounded Samantha and Alex with strong secondary characters with interesting stories of their own.  It is an enjoyable read.
About the author:
Nichole Chase is a daydreamer. No, really, just ask any of the math teachers that had the misfortune of seeing her name appear on their class schedule.
For years she has had story lines and characters begging for attention, but she resolutely pushed them aside to focus on more normal (read, boring) jobs.
Well, no longer! She is currently heeding the voices in her head and frantically writing their stories. Ms. Chase is the author of the Dark Betrayal Trilogy, Flukes, and Suddenly Royal (including several short stories).
Nichole resides in South Georgia with her husband, energetic daughter, dog, tortoise, and two cats. When not devouring novels by the dozens, you may find her writing, painting, crafting, or chasing her daughter around the house while making monster noises.

This book was recommended to me and sounds different from most genre that I usually read, so that's why I wish to read it... Also, the Author sounds like me, 'a daydreamer for one' plus she has a lot of irons in the fire all the time... I don't have children, but I do start various projects all the time... I'm an Avid Reader, not a Writer, though!!
