Release Blitz: His Rule by Natasha Knight and A. Zavarelli
This is the book that I have been waiting for. After reading The Society Trilogy I wanted so much more of Judge and Mercedes’ story, because I knew that there was certainly a good story to be told. This writing duo did not disappoint.
We first med Mercedes and Judge in the Society Trilogy. Mercedes’ is the sister of Judge’s best friend. Mercedes gets out of control and does something that not only has terrible consequences for her but something that is just unforgiveable. She may have thought she was doing something to protect her brother but in the end it all went the wrong way. Enter Judge, the man who has now been tasked with taking care of his sister and not in a nice comforting way. No, Judge is responsible for “taming the beast” so to speak. She is to be stiped of all her freedom, independence and her dignity. The one person who was supposed to love her and care for her has just fed her to wolves. Or in this case one wolf but trust me when it comes to Judge he is certainly more than even Mercedes can handle.
Judge is a man of law and rules. You break his rules, you will be punished. It’s that simple. And just because Mercedes is his best friend’s sister doesn’t mean that he will go easy on her. Mercedes is not the type to just give in and let Judge control her. She fights every step of the way even if it means taking his punishments. But you have to wonder just how much can one person take? How far will Judge go? But more importantly, how long before they both give into the intense push/pull between the two of them. Because there is an abundance of chemistry between the two of them. So much so that you can feel it.
I loved this book. I wondered how far this writing du would go with Judge and Mercedes, in regard to the dark side of this story. I have read enough of Ms. Knight’s books to know how dark she can go and how intense it can get on many different levels. But knowing that Mercedes s Santiago’s sister, I wondered if it would be less dark and dare I say tame. But trust me, the word tame is not in this writing duo’s vocabulary. They gave me everything that I love and want from their writing. It was dark, raw and intense. Judge did not hold back just because it was Mercedes that he was in control of. There were times when I wanted to love him and times when I wanted to hurt him. There were moments where I wanted to smack him and tell him to wake up when it came to a certain person. But then you would see a more vulnerable side of him when it came to Mercedes and I couldn’t help but love him.
This is the first book in this trilogy, and I cannot wait for more. The writing was flawless. The intensity of their relationship was felt throughout the entire book. The chemistry between them was palpable. Judge was a man of mystery who piqued my interest more than once in the first trilogy. I disliked Mercedes so much that I had no idea how I would feel about her, but I had grown to love her. All because the writers made me see her in a new light. See how much she was hurting and yearning for love. I found myself rooting for her and for her to redeem herself. This is the beginning of a great trilogy and I cannot wait for book two.

Release Blitz: Second shot with # 76 by Piper Rayne
Second Shot with #76 by Piper Rayne is now live!
My mom always said you don't get a second shot at making a first impression. I've remembered that my entire career. Especially since I'm one of the few black men who play professional hockey.
I'm calculated and respectful in the way I speak to my coaches, the owners, and the media. I've never taken a risk... until her.
I could blame it on the fact that for once I pushed away the pressure of my career for the ocean waves, the sand, and good times with my new teammates. But those are excuses because the minute I saw her at the airport, something lit up inside me and the best week of my life was spent with her in my bed.
After our week in paradise, we said goodbye, exchanged phone numbers and both assumed that unless one of us was flying through the other's city on the opposite side of the country, our vacation fling was over.
Then one night after practice I see her. She's here. In my city. Telling me she moved here for a job. If that's not fate tell me what is.
I've never wanted a second shot more than I do this time, but she's determined to leave what we were on the island we left behind.

Review by Jen Skewes
I was looking forward to this one since first learning of Cory and Ande's summer fling. Especially with the way the last book ended, basically leaving us hanging when it came to Ande's current relationship!!!
Cory and Anne met in the Summer at his teammate's wedding. Ande was at the same location as the wedding with some friends for a little getaway when she met Ande. There was instant chemistry. the two of them spent to the week together and when their time was up, they parted ways and went back to their homes which were different state. Cory never forgot about Ande or the week they spent together. So when he runs into her he is shocked, not only to see her but to learn that she moved to Florida. and then the biggest shock of all, she has a boyfriend. Cory isn't one to want to break up a couple but what he feels for Ande is nothing has felt before. Plus there's a little something off about their relationship. Cory wants to get to know Ande and maybe after spending more time together as friends, things could change between them. There is no doubt that and is attracted to Cory, she likes him and the time she spent with him. But major trust issues she is not sure dating a professional hockey player who is also known tone a payer off the ice as well, is a good idea. Can she trust that Cory's feelings former are real and that he is not the player he once was.
I really loved Cory. I think he truly had feelings for Ande and wanted to get to know her better and have a real relationship. He may have had a reputation but with Ande back in his life he wanted to prove that those days were over.
The twist to this whole story is one that I knew would completely blow up in Ande's face, but that really shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. I was not a big fan of hers for reasons I cannot say. I did like them together butter me the ending, when the truth is finally revealed is where I had some issues. It all had to do with the forgiveness and who was the one asking for it. I cannot go into detail without giving things away but I just felt like that part of the story was wrong. It just didn't sit well with me. I really enjoyed this book. But the next book is the one I am really looking forward to. Kane and Jana are next and I cannot wait.

From the moment Kylan McGrath has started building his Pittsburgh Team, we’ve known Dozer. He’s always been there in the background, but on everyone’s radar. Finally, this guy gets his story. It’s a story I’ve been waiting for, for a very long time.
I was so curious as to where Dozer’s story would go because in this series either the hero or heroine was an agent or spy, and an assignment was involved. Dozer nor Jessica is either. Dozer’s a computer-science guy, albeit a super smart NASA computer-science guy, but a computer-science guy non the less. However, Dozer made an assignment and he made it his assignment.
This was a fast-paced friend’s-to-lovers story and it worked perfectly. It didn’t need to be this long-drawn-out story of a man who lived the life of a loner and discovered he could love. Nope, we already knew Dozer had a big heart. What we didn’t know was he already had his family and his happily-ever-after was right there, he just needed the courage to go after it. He didn’t turn into this “super-saviour”. He was still Dozer. He was still the “nerdy guy”. He just happened to have a few skills and size on his side that worked when he needed to use them.
I absolutely adore Dozer. I love the way he was written. I love that even though he had an athletic background, his primary personality was that techy guy. Because of the way he’d been described in previous books, I thought it might be hard for me to picture him in a romantic setting, but it wasn’t. While he might have been a big burly type of man, he was something of a teddy bear. Other than the fear that Jessica might not return his feelings toward her, he wasn’t afraid to show his feelings when he needed to. Although he wasn’t a trained special ops guys, he had a little
knowledge, and he wasn’t afraid to use it.
I didn’t like Jessica as much as I wanted to. While I could appreciate her feeling responsible for Dozer and the Jameson crew being put in the position they were in and her desire to be by Dozer's side, I felt like she was a bit selfish. For a woman who had a little girl to think about, some of her actions were a bit to rash. I think the two of them had amazing chemistry though.
As usual the Jameson crew rallies around their own and it was great to read/see familiar characters again and see where some of them have progressed in their lives. I really liked the Dozer/Bebe relationship in this book as well. Bebe is still a firecracker and she was there for her best friend without thinking twice. I even appreciated her slight jealousy/annoyance over not being made aware of Jessica’s place in Dozer’s life prior to the danger Jess was in.
In this book we also get Dozer’s backstory and his relationship with his mom who passed away and his dad, James and Jess’s mom, Claire and of course Jess’s daughter Thea who is the light of Dozer’s life. Like Jess, I wasn’t really a fan of James. I definitely did not appreciate the way he put Dozer and Jess on the spot when it came to them facing their feelings for each other. I mean, yeah it had to be done, but I didn’t like him doing it.
As I mentioned before, I love the way Dozer was written. I will admit I was a little worried, as in the writing world there’s been so much scrutiny on how black characters are portrayed when written by white authors. I love Sawyer a hundred times more for the way she wrote these characters. There was none of the “stereotypical” language/attitude that is so often used. Other than her physical description of the characters in the beginning you could imagine them to be or look however you want.
As always, we are introduced to new characters as the stories progress and in Dozer’s story, we are introduced to Kellan McCord. There are certain authors where I don’t read the blurbs/synopsis of their upcoming works if it’s a part of a series. I just know I’ve met the character at some point and often than my interest was piqued, and they’ll have a storyline. I just wait and enjoy the ride when I get their story in my hands. However, for Kellan it was mentioned that he has a girlfriend, so naturally I’m more than a little curious as to how his story’s going to go. Will he find out she’s involved in some nefarious acts? Will she leave him, and a new love interest will surface? Or does she suffer a horrible fate? Can’t wait to see where his story goes.
