Bohemian Law by Misty Walker

Title: Bohemian Law
Series: Traveler Book 1
Author: Misty Walker
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: December 18, 2019

I saw her for the first time dancing by the fire.
With her arms high above her head, and her plump lips singing along,
I thought I’d never seen a woman more alive.
Completely opposite of me.
Repetition, consistency, and control have left my life without meaning.
But then there was Theodora.
Keeping me on my toes and forcing me to have new experiences.
The only problem with capturing a wild creature is
they were always meant to live free.

I saw him for the first time sitting on a rock, spying on me like a creeper.
With a perpetual scowl that didn’t even break when I took my clothes off,
I thought I’d never seen a man more serious.
Completely opposite of me.
In my world, chaos is a certainty and laws are bendable, if not breakable.
But then there was Lawrence.
The only problem with trying to shake up his world is
I don’t always know when to quit.

Review by Jen Skewes

This is the first book that I have read by Misty Walker and I cannot wait to read more from her.  This book was captivating and from the moment I started reading I did not want to put it down.  It is a love story between two people who could not be more opposite from each other.  It explores a lifestyle that I have yet to see written about.  And I loved it!!

Law is a businessman who is anal in so many ways.  He wants all aspects of his life to be in perfect order, from his home, to his job and even his love lie. Seeing Thea that day completely knocks him off his feet.  She is his opposite in every way, but you know what they say about opposites.  And in this instance it is the complete truth.

Thea is a beautiful, carefree, wild and sassy girl with a big heart.  When they first meet, Law is completely taken aback by her.  She is this beautiful woman who is dancing in a way that makes him feel things he doesn’t want to be feeling.  He knows that this girl can turn his life upside down, but a part of him doesn’t care.  He leaves her that day and if they were meant to be then fate would step in and bring them to each other again, which it does.

Thea had lived a life that is so different from Law.  She grew up living the Romani life, which means her, and her family never stay in one place.  They are more or less gypsies, which is so far from how Law grew up.  He way of life is not something that he understands or agrees with, but there is one thing he knows for sure.  He cannot get this woman out of his mind.

They have many obstacles that they both face.  But when they are together, it seems that nothing else matters.  Thea is exactly what Law needs in his life.  She is the storm that came into his life unexpected and made him live life a little.  She relaxes him, makes him feel free and she accepts his little quirks and his obsessiveness.  Together they balance each other out and are truly a perfect match.

I loved everything about this book.  Law was a little anal at times, maybe too anal form me but he was also very sexy and sweet.  I loved Thea and while she tried so hard to help in her own way it always seemed to backfire on her.  The banter between them made me laugh, and they just felt like they clicked from the start.  It felt like they knew each other longer than they did.  They just eased into this friendship and relationship that seemed so natural and genuine.

Misty Walker knows how to grab you from the start.  I loved that she wrote what made it even better was her falling for the guy that you would least expect.  I cannot wait to read more from this author and hoping that we see more of these characters in the future.

Review by Jen Skewes

I just adored this book. It is a quick, fun and sweet friends to lovers romance.  It is one of those books that will make you feels good.

Aidan and Lizzie hav been best friend since they met when they were six years old. They are up next door to each other and even now as adults they still live in the same apartment building across the hall from each other.  Lizzie has been having a hard time with dating lately.  Every date she goes on seems to end bad.  All of her dates have gone wrong for reasons that will just make you scratch your head....lol.   After every date her best friend is there for moral support with a carton of ice cream and a chick flick ready to be watched.  But Aidan wants more, he wants out of the friend zone.  He has watched her go on one bad date to the next and he knows that she deserves so much more than that.  He knows that he is the one and he will do everything he can to make her see that.  But for Lizzie, she is not giving in so easily.  Sotmehing happened in the past that hurt her and for that Ron she is afraid to cross that line with Aidan.  But he is not giving up.  Will he make her see how much they are meant to be together?

I loved tis story so much.  For one I loved the back and forth banter between Aidan and
Lizzie.  Whether it was just as friends or lovers, these always made me smile.  They just had that connection where they can laugh at each other, know what the other is feeling and just feel safe an comfortable with each other.  Seeing them slowly test the waters of a relationship was so fun and amazing to watch.  They were hot together and fun.  It was a feel good love story that I could not get enough of.

I especially loved the quotes in the beginning of the chapters.   Ms. Grayson knows how to write fun and quirky, and those quotes prove that.  Their relationship with Edna was so special and was a great addition to this story.  If you love a friends to lovers romance, between a fun and sassy heroine and a sexy, sweet and caring hero, then this book is for you!!

Boyfriend wanted: Loyal and funny. Wait…I just described a dog. I should buy a dog.
For real, though, Loyal and funny, that’s easy enough, right?

Wrong!

Do you ever ask yourself why dating in today’s society is so hard? Or where all the good guys are? Or what happened to dating before sex and *gasp* chivalry?

I wish I had the answers to those questions for you, but I don’t. Unfortunately, I’m scratching my head and wondering the same things you are, which is how I ended up here in the first place.

I never thought I’d be a blogger—especially one who writes about men and dating—and really, I’m not; I’m just a twenty-something girl who got her heart broken for the first time and, while drowning myself in a pint of cookie dough ice cream, thought to myself: Self, how many other girls out there are doing this exact thing? How many of us are loading up on carbs and sugar while mentally berating humans of the penis-wielding variety?

I know I can’t be the only one.

After proposing that same question to my sister, she suggested that I blog about it.

So, whether you’re like me and are swallowing past the bitter first taste of a broken heart, or you’re on your tenth helping and somehow keep finding the courage to go back for more, this blog is for you.

Let me start out by saying you are not alone.

Louder for the sobbing girl in the back: YOU ARE NOT ALONE.

Sit down, buckle up, and let’s enjoy this crazy ride of bad dating apps and even worse dates together.

P.S. Men suck. And not in a good way.

XOXO, Liz

Review: Midnight Kiss by Carmel Rhodes

Dirty. Evil. Vile. Beautiful.

Logan Gregory is the devil in human form.

I should have stayed far away, but my weakness for evil men and a negative bank balance made him impossible to ignore.

He needed a nanny.

I needed money.

The job was simple. Our roles were clearly defined.

Then my stupid heart got involved.

We shared stolen kisses after midnight. Kisses dipped in secrets and sprinkled with lies.

They say what’s done in the dark always comes to light.

They were right.

Review by Jen Skewes

Ooh this book was so much more than I had expected, and I mean that in a really good way.  If you read Cherry Bomb that you have already met Logan, which also means that you know how much an evil jerk he really is.  While he still is the jerk that we first met, I could not help falling for him!!  What can I say, the jerk captured my heart.  I mean he is a single dad who has a loving and adorable relationship with his daughter.  Then you throw in that fact that his sexiness will have you melting, and I was a complete goner.

Logan needs a nanny for the next two months and Emma needs the money.  But Logan isn’t just looking for a nanny, he has another offer for Emma.  It’s an offer that she is not sure she wants but saying no means that she is also refusing the job as a nanny as well.  One cannot be accepted without the other.  She’s not sure that she can give Logan what he wants and needs.  She’s not sure that she will be able to walk away with her heart intact.

Emma has a past that she has run from.  Logan has his own issues that he is still dealing with and having a hard time moving on.  They have a sexual connection that is so hot and so intense.  They hold onto their secrets tightly, not wanting the other to know.  They are careful not to cross any lines.  There is no doubt that these two care for each other, that what may have started out as nothing more than just a physical connection, has no become even more complicated, because feelings have been added to the mix.  When the lies and secrets begin to come out will they both be able to survive what comes next?

I loved this book!!!  I cannot begin to explain how much this book shocked me.  I did not see it coming at all, but I loved every part of it.  It was in no way predictable and it just took the sexiness to the next level.  Logan is a dirty talking, sexy asshole who I could not help fall for.  Emma is a sassy girl who does not give in so easily and doesn’t know how to not say what’s on her mind.  Together they were just perfect.  I felt the chemistry and the connection between them.  The way Logan was with his daughter will melt your heart.  The bond that Emma formed with his daughter will make you smile. I loved every part of this book and devoured it in a few hours.  It was so so good!!!  I am hoping that we get more of these characters, and I especially want to know what is going on with Arden and Jax.

Review by Lisa Kane

When you know, you know.

I loved the way this story was laid out. Each chapter arranged by time. Going back and forth. Slowly building up the suspense. Lia is about to marry Aaron. Now it doesn't take long to figure out that Aaron is a jack ass. He doesn't deserve Lia and I was a little confused as to why she stayed with him for five long years. He doesn't appreciate her and I have a sneaky suspicion he might have "appreciated" a few other women in their time together.

Aaron forgets the rings (another reason I didn't like him!) and Lia is going to get them, only Aaron can't make it so he's sending his best friend, Miles Foster in his place. Now there's a lot of history between Lia and Miles. Some interesting history.... things are starting to fall into place.

Best Man is a relatively short read but it does pack a lot of punch. Lia frustrated the hell out of me. She is smart but lacks self confidence. Why, oh why does she put up with Aaron? There would be no agonizing over the choice between Aaron and Miles for me. Miles is a deep guy, with a touch of mystery. But you can tell he's a good guy who doesn't want to hurt anyone. How Aaron earned the friendship of Miles is beyond me.

I will say I did want a little more of Lia and Miles at the end of the story. Just a little more meat with my book sandwich. But all in all, Best Man is a great read!

"...so that you notice I've got your heart. Very, very firmly in my hands, Lia."

Excerpt:
The dress is a strapless Carolina Herrera, with layers and layers of whisper-thin organza. It blows my budget and the “less is more” mantra out of the water, but like Eva said the day we bought it in downtown Denver, when you know, you know. The locale is the sumptuous Midnight Lodge, nestled in Colorado’s Rocky Mountains, every tiny detail of the place costing my father more than an entire year of his salary. The twenty-three members of the bridal party are assembled. It’s the scene of every little girl’s fairytale fantasy.

My fantasy.

At least, the one I’d been harboring up until today, when everything changed.

Eva smiles at me. “Ready to make your dreams come true?”

I stare at myself in the mirror. I look like Cinderella, if the wicked stepmother had just materialized at the castle on Cinderella’s wedding day and gunned down Prince Charming in cold blood. I’m also about three minutes away from losing the mimosa I’d polished off earlier that morning at breakneck speed. I go to chew on my nails but then I remember Eva painted them, and the last thing I want is for him to see the chips.

He notices things like that. He’s an observer.

And I want to be perfect for him.

Him.

The wrong him.

Oh, god.

I go to chew on my lip, but I can’t do that because they’ve been lacquered with bubble-gum pink gloss, and he’d probably notice if I got it on my teeth, too. All my normal ways of freaking out are off limits.

This is the day of my dreams, the day I’ve planned to the letter, just so I could avoid any potential calamities that might make me freak out.

But I am freaking out. Oh, lordy, am I ever.

I’ve been waiting my whole life for this day.

This perfect day, where the sun is shining, the snow is melting, birds are singing, and the sky is the deepest blue I’ve ever seen.

But there’s a problem.

A problem in the form of a pretentious, bearded, six-foot-three wall of hot man flesh who stalks around hating the world and thinking he’s better than everyone in it.

My fiancé’s best friend. The best man, Miles Foster.

This is all his fault.

“You okay?” Eva asks.

“I am,” I insist, pushing the infernal veil out of my face for the thousandth time. “This dress is itchy as hell.”

I stand and pluck the dress up under my armpits, hoisting it over my boobs. I try to take a step but…too much fabric, in all directions. It’s a wonder I don’t drown in this sea. In this sea, or in this mess I’ve created for myself. I sit back down on the vanity stool and pout. “I’m stuck.”

In more ways than one.

She gathers handfuls of too much organza and helps me up, depositing the pile of fabric safely in my wake. I shuffle to the full-length mirror and glance at myself. I don’t look like a bride, or even a fairytale princess. I look like a prisoner who just got her death sentence.

“It’s too loose,” I whine. I never had much of a rack, and now it’s super obvious. Why did I decide to go strapless again? “I think I must’ve lost some boobage during my diet. What if the top of my dress falls down while I’m walking up the aisle?”

Eva smirks. “I’m sure Aaron’ll love the show.”

The thought makes the mimosa turn in my stomach. I used to live for what Aaron thought. Whenever I had a choice to make on something, be it a new movie coming out, or a sweater at the mall, or a new hair style, I’d think, Would Aaron like this? But I realize, as she says his name, that it doesn’t matter to me in the slightest what Aaron thinks. The only opinion I care about now is that of the man who will be standing precisely two feet to my husband-to-be’s left.

I am such an idiot.

In less than fifteen minutes, I will be marching down the stone steps outside the Midnight Lodge to a picturesque gazebo at the foot of the hills, on the arm of my father, who has socked his entire life’s savings into making this day picture perfect for his only daughter. I will take the hand of the man I’ve been attached at the hip to for over five years, ever since I met him in a dank frat cellar when I was a wide-eyed little college freshman. I will join with this man—this man I’ve spent all of my adult life with—in holy matrimony, ’til death us do part.

I will become Mrs. Aaron Eberhart.

But I know I’ll be looking past my husband-to-be to the man who, up until twelve hours ago, I’d thought I hated. Miles Foster.

And I will be wondering What if…

I wish choosing a husband was as simple as choosing a dress.

When you know, you know.

I did know, or I thought I did. Up until twelve hours ago, I thought Aaron Eberhart was my true soul mate, the one I’d happily spend the rest of my life with. That’s when things took an unexpected turn.

Right now? I don’t even know my own name.

And I have a feeling I might be making a huge mistake.

Blurb

HOLLIS ROSSI is tired of being good. What's it ever gotten her, anyway?

Her naughty list contains everything she plans to do to show him she's not the innocent, naive girl he thinks she is. She just  didn't plan on him finding it.

As Jonah shows her the ropes of being bad, she can't help but wish he'd show her some other ropes--like the ones in his bedroom.

The Naughty List is a steamy contemporary holiday romance.

Review by Jen Skewes

I adored this novella. It is a quick, steamy read that just makes you smile.  It has just the right amount of emotional moments and two characters that you will love.

Hollis went for an interview working for the elusive Jonah X.  She didn't get the job she wanted but somehow found herself as his dog walker for the past two years.  Jonah is looking for a new assistant and Hollis wants the job.  He has his reasons form not promoting her, on being that she is too wholesome to be his assistant, both personal and business.  She is determined to prove him wrong.  She is ready to take on any task that he throws her way, no matter what it is.  Even if it means checking off all of the items on the naughty list that her sister in law made for her.  She is ready to prove herself to him.

Jonah is an ex UFC fighter who has a past that he has managed to keep quiet.  He is a sexy,  sweet and kind man who has a vulnerable side as well.  His past has led him to be guarded, not opening up to any one.  He is content with one night stands and spending all his time running his business.  When Hollis Rossi comes in for an interview, he knows that hiring her is way too tempting for him, but he also doesn't want to let her go, hence how she became his dog walker.  But after two years she wants more, and he isn't so sure promoting her would work.  It would mean working with her every day and given the way he rects when in a room with her, it's not the best idea.  Hollis is not about to give up.  Will he give her a chance and will the both of them be able to stay behind that line that certainly needs to be created?

I adored these two. Jonah may be this tough ex UFC fighter with a body covered in tattoos, but he is os much more than that.  His kindness knows no bounds, but I can also say the same for Hollis.  She is beautiful, sweet and always going the extra mile, especially when it comes to Jonah.  I think t is just in her nature to take care of people, and Jonah is someone who needs that whether he can admit it or not.  It is something that has been lacking in his life.

They had such amazing chemistry both on a physical and emotion level.  Their playful banter had me smiling.  They just fit perfectly together and I was rooting for them so much.  I loved seeing Jonah open up to her in ways that he never does with anyone else, and I loved how much she would be there for him.  This is one of those books to read when you just want to cuddle up on the couch with a good book, one that is not over the top drama or angst, but just a really good story with two loving characters.  I loved it!!!

“Look.” I
point at the recipe. “Flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, lemon zest,
salt, almond milk, canola oil, vanilla, lemon juice, and fresh blueberries. The
streusel on top has some vegan butter in it, but that’s everything.
Promise.”
He leans
close enough that I can smell the sharp clean scent of his body wash and
expensive aftershave.
“Huh. Well
they’re way better than the last ones.” He practically inhales another one.
My teeth
sink into my lower lip and tug. “Um, yeah. I over-mixed those. And I didn’t
know you were supposed to mix your wet and dry ingredients separately. My mom
gave me some tips this time.”
His eyes
drop to my mouth but I’m not sure why. Jonah doesn’t see me like that. He never
looks at my mouth. Maybe the way to his heart really is through his
stomach.
“Can I keep
this?” He retrieves the recipe from the countertop. “I might have Erma make a
big batch for some friends of mine.”
“Mmhm.” I’m
temporarily stunned from the way he’s openly watching my mouth. Our faces are
close enough to touch.
Erma is his
housekeeper and she’s an amazing cook. I’d be jealous of her but she’s sixty
and looks like Mrs. Doubtfire so I don’t think she’s Jonah’s type.
“Thanks.
Don’t give the dogs any of my muffins,” he teases.
Zeus gave
up long ago but Achilles is still staring longingly at the muffins.
He moves to
exit the kitchen and my brain resumes full function once he’s out of my
personal space.
“Jonah, wait.”
He turns,
his hip bones doing that sexy V thing that make my mouth water.
“I actually
need that recipe back.” My body shifts into panic mode as he regards me warily
with the recipe in his hand. “I’ll type you up a better copy. I need to make a
few adjustments anyway and I can’t remember what website I got that one
from.”
My heart is
racing and my words are coming out on top of one another.
Jonah’s
expression says I’m acting as crazed as I feel.
He doesn’t
make a move to give it back.
“Jonah,
seriously. I need that one. Please.”
I have no
poker face. I’m practically begging and that is not like me.
“You need it?” He cocks his head to the side,
amusement dancing in his eyes.
For a few
seconds, I worry he’s going to pull some big brother crap on me—hold it over my
head and make me jump for it or something. I get enough of that from Mikey and
Tony. I definitely don’t need it from Jonah.
Thankfully
he just shakes his head and starts to hand it back.
Until his
eyes catch the writing on the back.
“What’s
this?” He glances at me then back at the list. “Your Christmas wish list on
here, Rossi?”
“Give it
back, Jonah. I’m serious.” I can’t breathe.
I reach for
it and he steps backward. “Hang on a minute. I need to know what to get you for
Christmas.”
His
eyebrows shoot up as soon as he makes out the words. His lips move as he reads.
I never noticed that before.
I give
myself a mental slap. I’m losing sight of what’s important here.
“Adult
toys, lingerie, and law breaking?” Jonah nods appreciatively. “Aren’t you a
busy little elf this holiday season?”
“Shut up.
My sister-in-law wrote that. She thought it would show you that I deserve the
job.” I sigh heavily. “You’ve had your fun. Now give it back.”
He hasn’t
made it to number six yet.
Please, sweet baby Jesus, don’t let him make it
to number six.
“Hang on,”
he says, reaching out and keeping me at arm’s length. “What else have we got
here?”
“Jonah!” I
make a grab for the list, swiping my hand wildly, hoping to at least tear
it.
I miss,
catching his towel instead.
In one
split-second, my entire universe takes a hard left.
Jonah’s
towel falls and he is naked, holding a piece of paper that suggests I sit on
