Our 4 star review

Sherryl Woods has written a new three book series called, “An Ocean Breeze”. It follows the lives of three sisters, Emily, Gabriella and Samantha and their grandmother Cora Jane Castle. Emily is a successful interior decorator, Gabriella, a public relations expert and Samantha is an actress. Grand- mom Cora, now a widow, has owned Castle’s by the Sea restaurant in Sand Castle Bay for many years. The Castle name has been a permanent fixture in this North Carolina coastal town for generations. Sand Castle Bay is about Emily and a love from her past, Boone Dorsett. Ten years ago, Emily yearned for a career in interior design and left the town and Boone behind. She lives in California; many of her clients are public figures and celebrities. She has designed the homes of the wealthy and has travelled the world for her clients. She returns to North Carolina following a hurricane, to ensure her aging grandmother and her restaurant have survived intact. Although her grandmother is fine, her business suffered damage and requires extensive renovations. Emily isn’t in town very long before she encounters Boone and finds he is now a widower with a young son. He is now the owner of three popular seafood restaurants.

“Boone Dorsett had always been something of a contradiction, in her opinion.”

After a few tense encounters the two finally decide to clear the air regarding their bitter parting ten years ago and realize both made assumptions that led to life altering decisions. Their paths took different directions but all these years later, the wrath of Mother Nature has landed them in the same place. Boone’s son B.J., connects with Emily and she finds herself growing fond of him. Meanwhile, her grandmother is playing matchmaker and urging Boone to give into his desire to have Emily back in his life. He resists these desires; Emily placed her career before him in the past. He not only wants to guard his heart, he has his son’s emotions to think about this time.

“I told you the other day. I’m scared to death you’ll disappoint him when you leave.”

Although Emily begins to admit to herself that her long buried feelings for Boone are coming to the surface, Boone is much more resistant. After quite a few setbacks the two rekindle their relationship.   Unfortunately, Boone’s former in-laws are not his biggest fans and blame him in part for the premature death of their daughter. His mother- in-law discovers he is seeing Emily and uses this as an excuse to take B.J. away from him.  Boone is reluctant to force a confrontation with them and ends up hurting Emily in the process. Can they recover once again from their miscommunications and their good intentions turned bad?

Ms. Woods has written a heartwarming novel that slowly heals a broken relationship. Her secondary characters are interesting and this reader is anxious to explore the remainder of the Castle sisters’ stories.

 About the author:

With two other careers to her credit before becoming a novelist and four states in which she's lived for extended periods of time, Sherryl Woods has collected friends and memories, along with way too much unnecessary junk.

"The friends are the only things I've brought with me through the years that really matter," she says. "I could probably live without one more chintz teacup, another tin-litho sandpail or another snowglobe, but I need those friends."

The theme of enduring friendships and families is always central to Sherryl's books, including her latest Chesapeake Shores series — THE INN AT EAGLE POINT, FLOWERS ON MAIN and HARBOR LIGHTS.

Author of more than 100 romance and mystery novels, Sherryl Woods grew up in Virginia. Over the years she had lived in Ohio and Florida, as well as California. Currently she divides her time between Key Biscayne, Florida and Colonial Beach, Virginia, the small, river-front town where she spent her childhood summers.
