Giveaway and Review: Let Love In by Melissa Collins

Synopsis

What would happen if you lost everything? If the people who were supposed to love you unconditionally were no longer there for you, how would your world change?

Madeleine Becker lost everything when her parents died when she was ten years old. Ripped from her home and everything that she has ever loved, she is forced to start all over again. The only way for her to move on is to build walls around her heart and keep everyone at a safe distance. Her logic: she can't get hurt if she doesn't fall in love.

That theory is blown to pieces when she meets Reid Connely during her freshman year at college. He is gorgeous and darkly mysterious. He understands Maddy's pain all too well, but sharing his pain would mean breaking down the walls he put up around his own heart. Conflicted between loving Maddy and hiding his dark past, Reid starts to reevaluate his world. Maddy's inner strength, snarky personality and breath taking beauty help Reid to make peace with his past.

Together they find out what happens when they let love in.

4.5 Star Review by Guest Reviewer Nicole Lorenzo

Maddy loses everything at the tender age of 10 years old. The day her parents died Maddy’s happiness and trust died along with them. With firm walls set up in place to protect her from being hurt again, Maddy and her best friend venture off to college. Maddy wants the hurt to go away, she decides to live by a new rule and instead of letting her pain consume her she resolves to be happy and enjoy life.

At her first college party ever she meets Reid Connely. He’s tall, dark and gorgeous and after one dance she feels a connection with him she has never felt before. For the first time ever Maddy wants to get close to someone, to let him in. But Maddy sees pain in his eyes as well, something she knows very much about. Reid pushes Maddy away after their one dance, and when she runs into him a few times afterwards he looks almost angry at the fact that she is there. He treats her like crap, and her friends warn her that he is a player and a loner, but despite this Maddy can’t stop wanting to get to know Reid better.

“I want to be happy for once. I want so badly to love myself and to love my life – to know that someone really and truly loves me.”

Reid Connely is knocked completely off his game when he meets Maddy Becker. He’s never had any interest in a girl outside of his bed. But there was something about Maddy that has him reeling. She’s beautiful, sweet, sassy and when she looked into his eyes he swears she can see directly down into his soul.  Reid has his own demons and firmly placed walls of his own. He’s never let anyone in before and is not planning to start now. But he can’t get Maddy out of his head, and every time he sees her he’s even more of an asshole trying to keep her away. Then Maddy finds herself in trouble, and nothing stands in Reid's way from protecting her. After that ,their feelings come to the surface and they find themselves letting some walls down and starting a relationship.

“Without you, my life would have no meaning at all, so saying that   ‘ you make me happy ‘ is a huge f*cking understatement. You bring more happiness into my life than I ever thought I deserved.”

Being in love is new for both Reid and Maddy. They both have very big walls built up to protect them from their hurtful pasts. So when Reid starts getting mysterious phone calls that he won't answer or talk about, Maddy takes things into her own hands. Now their trust has been broken on both ends and Maddy realizes that until Reid learns to deal with his past he can’t be apart of her future.

"You can push me away all you want, but I will fight for us.  I will fight until my last breath to show you just how much I love you, how much I will always love you.”

I really loved this debut novel by Melissa Collins!  I went through a lot of ranges of emotions while reading it.  Despite struggling to find happiness amidst all the sadness in her life Maddy is very strong. She sees something more to what Reid lets the world perceive him as and she wants to be a part of that.  Reid- initially you think he is an ass, but you can’t help falling for him despite that. When Maddy finally cracks his exterior walls and you see just how sweet Reid can be you will definitely swoon.  I read this book in one sitting, Icouldn’t put it down! Of course we have to wait till book two to see where their story will take them!  I will be “patiently” waiting for the sequel! Please hurry!!
