Release Blitz and Review - From the First Verse by M. Robinson

Release Date: March 24

Dear diary,

Once upon a time…

There was a girl with long golden hair who had the truest, bluest eyes that turned white when she cried.

She lived in a kingdom far, far away in a tower made of stone, but her mind was made of glass that she kept sharp as knives.

Where her memories hid behind her darkest doubts.

Her deepest thoughts.
Her diary became the only thing she could rely on.

No one saw through her looking glass.
No one cared.
No one tried.

Until the villain presented himself as the hero in her life.
He took and took and took some more.

With no regret.
With no shame.
With no apology.

The page never turned.
Their story didn’t end.
Tomorrow never came.
His life of debauchery was their journey to nowhere.

She’d give anything to go back in time.
To walk where she had walked.
To see what she had seen.
One step.
One breath.
One day at a time.
Though in the end, “I love you” were just words.

That destroyed us inside.

Review by Lisa Kane

Cash McGraw is the son of Dylan McGraw, one of the good ol' boys. But unlike his detective father, his passion is for music. He and his father are like oil and water. Neither can understand the other, and Dylan has no tolerance for his son. (I have to admit, up until this book, I loved Dylan, but now, not so much.

Cash's best friend is Harley Jameson. She is like a sister to him and she always has his back. But while they are inseparable, Harley has a love/hate relationship with Jackson Pierce, Cash's arch enemy. So much teenage drama.

Journey Pierce is Jackson's baby sister. She's twelve years younger than Cash, but is enamoured by him. Even as a baby, she adored him. He doted on her and thought her love of music was endearing. But Cash has demons and things boil over with his father.

But he promised Journey he would always be in her life.

"You're going to miss my birthday."
"I'll call you from wherever I am."
"It's not the same."
"I'll send you a gift."
"If I don't get to see you, then I don't care."

But Cash didn't keep his promise. His rise to fame was slow and painful and lonely. But once he joined up with Life of Debauchery, he shot to rock star status and he lived up to the band's name.

The last eleven years of my life moved at a fast pace. I preferred it that way. It was easier to keep my demons at bay.

Journey is all grown up and at eighteen she's studying in Spain. Fate puts her in Cash's orbit and he can't believe the child he was so fond of is now a gorgeous woman.

Little Miss Thang was here.
Acting like she was grown.
Except now, she fuckin' was.

There's a reason for Cash's self destructive ways. A moment of selfishness has made for a lifetime of destruction. He may want this grown up version of Journey, but he knows he isn't good enough for her. Will these two be able to find the melody of their lives?

"You were always cute as shit. But Christ, Junie. You're the inspiration behind every love song."
