Release Blitz: He Saw Me First Missy Johnson

Title: He Saw Me First
Series: Age & Innocence #1
Author: M Johnson
Genre: Age Gap Romance
Release Date: December 28, 2020

From across an empty lane in Paris, through my window,
He saw me first.
I stopped undressing . . . but only for a moment.
The next night, he was waiting for me, in his expensive suit
He sat there and watched.
No participation.
My only acknowledgement was the look of lust in his eyes.
It continued until the night before I left,
when I found a card under my door.
No words. Just a number. So, I texted him.
I’d never done anything like it before.
It felt so dirty and wrong, but at the same time, I felt alive.
He was much older than me, so intimidating and sexy.
He made me feel things no man ever has.
I was under his spell.
The last thing I expected was to ever see him again...

WARNING: While this book is best enjoyed going in blind, it does contain distressing themes that may upset some readers. If you think you might be one of those readers please see my author review on Goodreads for specific triggers.

Review by Jen Skewes

Holy hotness!!  I did not expect this book to be at the level of sexy that it was!  If you love an age-gap forbidden romance that is head in the freezer to cool you off hot, with a little bit of suspense added to it, then this book is for you.

Lexi is in Paris for a cousin’s wedding. She has always been the good girl, the girl who has never been wild.  When her friends tells her to take advantage of being in the most romantic place in the world, she never expected to listen to her.  Until she finds herself undressing in front of her hotel room window, while a sexy stranger across the way watches her.  And if that was not wild enough for her, she lets said stranger come into her room and do things to her that she never imagines.  By far being the hottest night of her life.  A year later and she is till thinking of that night and the nameless man who rocked her world that night.  She never expected to see him again, even if a small part of her hoped that she did.  And lucky for her she runs into him again, except learning who he really is, completely ruins all thoughts of being with him.  She knows his name is Dominic ad she also knows that he is now off limits.

Dominic and Lexi have amazing chemistry. The spark between them has been ignited once again.  The passion is completely on fire.  And the chemistry palpable.  They cannot ignore what is between them.  But they know that being together can hurt someone.  Will they give in to the desire and find a way to make it all work?

I devoured this book.  Dominic is seriously sex on a stick.  He knows how to please a woman and at the same time how to melt your heart.  Hearing his reasons for leaving that night in Paris and understanding why he needs Lexi will tug at your heart strings.  Lexi was a sweet girl who completely let loose when she was with Dominic.  That had such an amazing connection, which is why I loved this book.  These two were just perfect for each other and came into eac other’s life at the right time.

There was one person that I did not trust at all and was waiting for the moment when I would see the exact reason why I did not trust them.  But I honestly did not see things going the way that they did.  Oh My God!!  That twist shocked me.

This book had it all/. Hot and sexy, filled with drama, a bit f angst and suspense.  I think my only issues is while Lexi and Dominic were perfect together, I wanted a little more from them emotionally.  I wanted to see more of that emotional connection.  But I loved it!!!

Stopping outside the restaurant, Nate takes my hand and tugs me closer until our bodies touch. His eyes darken as he twists a loose strand of hair behind my ear before pulling me in for a soft, but persuasive kiss.
“Why would I be nervous? I’m just a friend meeting your dad,” I remind him.
“A friend with benefits.”
“Not that many benefits,” I retort, playfully slapping his arm.
His hand slides effortlessly from around my waist as he holds the restaurant door open for me. I walk inside and then let him take the lead.
“There he is—far back table,” Nate murmurs.
When I look up, I see his dad and I can’t breathe.
I stop dead in my tracks in the middle of the restaurant, unable to tear my gaze away from him. He stares right back at me, his expression unfaltering, the only reaction I get is a flicker of recognition in his eyes, which is enough for me to be certain that he remembers who I am.
It’s almost a year to the day since our night in Paris, but I can still remember every tiny detail like it was yesterday—his soft touch, his warm breath against my thighs, the feel of his mouth as it pressed against my clit… everything about that night is instilled in my mind because it’s all I think about.
“Are you okay?”
Startled, I look at Nate when he touches my arm.
Heat creeps into my cheeks as I try to gather my composure, but there’s no denying I’m a mess. I’m about to have dinner with my boyfriend’s father, who just so happens to be the same man who watched me strip in front of my hotel window in Paris nearly a year ago.
The same man I invited to my room, who slid his cock so deep inside my core, who made me orgasm so many times I lost count. The man I’ve dreamt over and over about finding again, just to feel even the slightest shred of what I felt that night. And now I need to walk over there, sit my ass down and pretend we’ve never met, all while remembering how incredible his tongue felt as it glided over my slit.
No, I’m not fucking okay.
“Relax, Lex.” Nate’s soft voice hums in my ear. He coaxes me forward, mistaking my hesitation as nerves over meeting his father. “You’ll be fine. I promise he doesn’t bite.”
Oh, I promise you he does.

From New York Times bestselling author Penelope Ward, comes a new standalone, second-chance story of forbidden love…

It’s natural to want the one you can’t have. And for as long as I could remember, I’d secretly wanted my brother’s best friend, Jace.

He was six years older and always treated me like the sister he never had.

Fast forward a decade.

We were all in our twenties now. Jace had moved in with my brother, Nathan, and me to help us make ends meet after our parents died.

It was just the three of us—an odd family dynamic.

Living under our roof, Jace was as bossy and protective as ever.

But he certainly didn’t look at me like a sister anymore. That was what made things so complicated.

I was pretty much hot and bothered twenty-four-seven.

And he was torn.

The signs were subtle, at first. Like on movie night, I’d casually rest my leg against his, and he wouldn’t exactly shift away.

Still, I assumed he would never…go there.

Nathan would kill us.

The knowledge of that wasn’t enough to stop the inevitable, though.

Eventually our slow burn exploded.

But more than the physical attraction, we’d developed a strong connection.

We just couldn’t get caught, right?

That sounded simple.

Until it wasn’t.

This is a story of forbidden love, broken trust, and an unexpected second chance.

Review by Lisa Kane

Persephone Penrose was named by her eccentric aunt Tilda. She lost her aunt to cancer but had 12 years of memories with her. One of their favorites-gazing at the sky choosing names for the fluffy clouds. When she was dying and Persy asked her how she would know that she was still with her, she told her,

"When the time comes and you grow up, ask for something you want-something you really want-when you see a lone cloud in the sky, and I will grant it to you. That's how you'll know I'm there watching. You only get one miracle, Persephone, so be careful what you wish for."

Persophone has harbored a crush on Cillian Fitzpatrick for years. He has never, not once, acknowledged her presence. Persy is the flower girl (yes, an adult flower girl) at her best friend Sailor's wedding to Hunter, Cillian's brother. Just before the wedding, she develops and allergic reaction and is rescued by an unlikely hero-Cillian. It becomes an embarrassing encounter, but one that prompts Persy to use the one in a lifetime wish.

"I wish you'd fall in love with me."

Uh oh, this isn't going to end pretty.

Fast forward a few years and Persy finds herself penniless and in debt. Actually it's her missing husband, Pax Veitch's debts. But he took off and the loan sharks are circling the waters and they aren't looking to nibble, they are looking to feed. They have plans for her to pay off the $100,000 debt.

"You'll be on your back in the VIP room. Although I can't promise you won't be on your hands and knees, too, if they're willing to pay extra."

How can she pay off the debt? She's an elementary school teacher. She lives with her sister, Bella. That's when she comes up with a plan to beg Cillian for the money.

Cillian "Kill" Fitzpatrick was my best shot at getting the money.

Now things are complicated with him. He's the newly appointed CEO of Royal Pipelines. He's shrewd, talented and totally without empathy for anyone or anything. He is a total PR nightmare. Oh, and he just started drilling in the Arctic and the public hates him. He couldn't care less but it seems that his controlling father and his lawyer think he better turn his image around. Marry, start a family, do something normal people do. After much ado, bride meet groom.

In his mind, Cillian has entered into an arranged marriage to gain an heir. He's not going to let all his sweat and work go to one of his siblings' children. He may be attracted to Persy but he won't allow himself to feel.

I adore a book with two strong characters, each with their own agenda. Reading Cillian's POV can be infuriating. He is so cold and rigid.

Only in her case, I didn't want my life tied with hers.

Didn't want to see her, hear from her, and endure her presence.

Didn't want her to owe me.

She'd been infatuated with me before. Feelings did not interest me unless I found a way to exploit them.

But slowly he starts to feel messy emotions. And Persy challenges him, constantly.

Her gaze clung to mine. "I don't buy your story."

"Lucky for me, I'm not James Patterson."

Jeez, how can you not love their exchanges?

The Villain is a lengthy book. But the pages flew and not once did my attention wander. I have been in somewhat of a book funk and have had trouble concentrating on reading. But this Stella got her groove back. This book has twists and each time I thought Cillian is going to cave in, finally this character is going to recognize that he can have love in his life, he would do his best to self destruct and break Persy's heart. Along with her heart, he was constantly breaking mine right along with hers. But still, I kept reading. Hoping, knowing somewhere there was going to be a big pot of gold at the end of these thunderstorms. I had to work for it, but what an ending!

"The contract still stands. My soul is yours."

Release Blitz: Connection by KM Golland

Title: Connection
A Temptation Series Standalone
Author: K.M. Golland
Genre: Standalone Contemporary Romance
Release Date: December 17, 2020

A fun new novel featuring the characters from Temptation…

From two-time Romance Book of the Year Nominee and bestselling author K.M. Golland, comes a fun, opposites-attract romance with a How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days meets The Hating Game vibe.

Like every little girl, I dreamed of becoming a princess. I wanted the prince, the castle, the fairy-tale wedding, and maybe seven dwarfs to call my own. I went to school, studied hard, and graduated to become a teacher, all the while waiting patiently for my Prince Charming to come along and sweep me off my feet.
But he never came; Will Butler did instead.
Live Trepidation drummer. Rude, crude, obnoxious plumber. Will certainly didn’t fit my perfect Prince Charming mould, but boy did he break it and charm his way into my heart.
I’m just not sure I can let him stay there. And will he even want to when he finds out what I’m hiding?

His misty eyes hover over my chest, so I cross my arms, shielding his view.
“What are you doing here?” I hiss.
“I’ve come to clean out your pipes.”
“Apparently your pipes are blocked.”
I pinch my brow, a headache forming.
“You look confused, sweetheart.”
“I am.”
“Sorry, Will. I had to answer that call—” Carly steps out from behind him, a sneaky smile creeping across her face when her eyes meet mine. “Oh, good. You’re here, Lib. Can you show Will the tap that burst, please?”
She looks at me like I’m an idiot. “Because he’s the plumber.”
He’s the plumber?” I blink all the blinks.
Will jiggles a metal toolbox dangling from his hand, his smile full of white dazzling teeth, which look contradictory against his bushy beard.
“Of course you are.” I throw my hands in the air, turn on my heel, walk away, and bite out, “Follow me,” not waiting for him to do so.
“You look good wet,” he says, voice low but humorous as he falls into step beside me.
“Oh, shut up.”
He chuckles. “So tell me what happened.”
“I’m not entirely sure.” I huff. "One minute, I’m standing there, and the next, I’m soaking wet.”
I regret the words as soon as they leave my mouth.
He grins. “You wouldn’t be the first woman to say that to me.”

Release Blitz: Steele by Sawyer Bennett

Steele (Arizona Vengeance, Book #9) Sawyer Bennett Release Date: December 8, 2020

A second chance may be just what James Steele needs… I might be one of the older players on the Arizona Vengeance, but I like to think that also makes me one of the wisest. Or at least I used to. Turns out, I’ve been a bit selfish. I’ve been married to hockey and my team for years, which hasn’t left much time for my actual wife, Ella. Now I’m juggling a separation I never wanted, the pressure of being a single dad to our teenage daughter, and the career I sacrificed it all for. While my game on the ice might be on fire, the game in my personal life is clearly lacking, as evidenced by the fact I just saw my wife on a date with another man. If I have any hope of saving the family I love, I need to re-prioritize, and fast. So it’s time for me to get back to fundamentals, just like I did when I learned how to play hockey. I’ve never backed down from a challenge, and romancing my wife is a challenge I am very much looking forward to. Time to put on my game face, because I’m in it to win it.

Review by Trinette Dungee

Jim Steele may be one of the seasoned members on the Arizona Vengeance, but when it comes to his relationship, he’s basically a novice. After almost fourteen years of marriage he’s facing life without his family and he’s not handling it well. Jim thought having his wife ask him to leave their home was a shock to his system but finding out that she’s actually starting to date?! Well that’s just a shock to his system that never expected, and it’s lit a fire under his ass to reevaluate everything he thought he knew about his marriage and make it right.

Every series has those characters that you are introduced to throughout various stories and just intrigues you so much. In the Arizona Vengeance series, it was first Tacker and then Steele and Kane. Well, I’m finally getting Steele’s story and, as expected, I wasn’t disappointed. Steele’s story was different in a lot of ways but primarily because it’s rare we get a second chance romance like his. He’s already married, he just needs to put his family back together again.

What I really loved about this storyline was, Jim and Ella were a couple we know or have known. So far, they are the most relatable characters of the series. While Ella has a career, it’s Jim who’s the primary breadwinner in the family. Ella essentially is one of those wives, who basically functions as a single parent, which I think is relatable to so many couple. Theirs was a story of the primary breadwinner being so focused on providing for their family that they lost sight of their actual family and have to find their way back to what is really important.

In hindsight, I have to believe that many of the times my wife beckoned me to bed were so she could have my attention, not necessarily because she craved the intimacy. I’m the asshole who, after I gave it to her, figured it was enough.

What I really liked about Jim was, he owned his shit. It might have taken him a moment to understand what he did wrong but when he got it, he worked on fixing it. While this was told as dual POV, it’s primarily told from Jim’s POV. We get Ella but not as much as would like to have seen. I liked Ella but I felt like it took a while for me to connect with her. What I liked about Jim and Ella as a couple, they were still a team even though they weren’t together. They didn’t get catty, vindictive, petty, or hostile towards each other.

The one thing that was a little off for me with Jim and Ella was their age. They married young when Ella became pregnant with their daughter Lucy who is now thirteen. That puts them under thirty-five, roughly thirty-two/thirty-three. Jim and Ella came across as a much more mature couple. I kept feeling like then were more of a couple in their late thirties. Other than that. I was not disappointed in Steele at all. Jim and Ella are definitely my favorite Vengeance couple.

So, as the pattern goes, there is typically one or two other players that surface throughout a storyline that lets you know they have a story to tell. To add to my intrigue that was Tacker, Steele, and Kane this book throws Riggs Nadeau at us. I’m majorly interested in his story (I think, but I’m not one hundred percent sure but he might have popped up in Kane’s story), anyway this guy is seriously on my radar. However, it looks like the next Vengeance player we’ll get will be Jett Olsson.

Release Blitz: The Do Over by Piper Rayne

Release Date: December 1

She was always the one.

Or so I thought.

Turns out my instincts were dead wrong.

Years ago I was faced with the choice between two women. Both were perfect in opposite ways. One was carefree and against commitment. The other was a woman you’d bring home to mom.

I was young, naïve and stupid. I’m sure you can guess who I chose.

Now, I’m older, wiser and know what the hell I want.

So, when the same two women pop back into my life it’s my chance for a do-over. But they flipped the script. Just like me, they want different things now. Leaving me with one choice—convince the woman I want that she wants me too.

Review by Jen Skewes

I really enjoyed this book. I have been waiting for Knox’s story because of all the characters that we have met from the Rooftop crew, Knox seemed to be the quietest an the one that we didn’t know too much about.  We just knew that he was hung up on his ex-girlfriend.

I do not want to say too much about this story other than, Leilani comes back into his life in an unexpected way, but her appearance also brings back someone else from his past.  Kamea, the woman that he met right before he took Leilani home.  She’s the one that he didn’t forget about, and perhaps the one that got away.  With Leilani causing problems for all, Knox steps in and helps Kamea with her living situation.  The chemistry between Kamea and Knox is undeniable.  But the possibility that Knox may still have lingering feelings for his ex, could ruin any chance he has with Kamea.  Cn he prove that he is over his ex and wants more with Kamea, or will his ex-get in the way once again?

I really loved this one, simply for the fact that Knox is one of those really good guys.  He has a huge heart, and you cannot help but love him.  Kamea is the sweet girl that has her own insecurities, especially when it comes to her friend.  These two were so good together.

One of the many reasons why I love this series is because of the friendships and while The Do-Over nay be Knox’s story, we still get to see plenty oof the crew that we all love. They are all there to give their advice, making us laugh, by cracking jokes and just be the amazing friends that they are.  It’s like you are a part of their inner circle.

I cannot wait for Frankie and Jax’s book.  I think next to Dylan that Jax may be my favorite.  Especial after seeing how adorable he is with Frankie’s little girl.  Cannot wait for it!!!

Review by Jen Skewes

I love this series.  I thought book 1 was fantastic, well Ms. Bromberg took this one to the next level.  Maybe it was the emotions this one brought out, or the chemistry between Lennox and Rush or maybe it was digging deeper into the feelings of both of these characters and finding that they both have their own insecurities.  But it could also be that I absolutely loved Rush from the minute I met him.  Either way, this book was amazing!!

Lennox is the sister who is a little lost and sometimes needs to run off and escape for a little while.  She loves working for her father’s sports agency, but lately she feels that her father and sisters all think that she is not a capable in this position as they are.  Or that she once was.  When she overhears a conversation between male agents, she decides to run off to LA to take the job that her father had turned down.  She feels like she needs to prove something not just to her family but to herself.  She is staying with her best friend, and when she walks in his house, she sees the sexy brit, footballer, Rush McKenzie.

Rush is dealing with is own problems right now, in the form of a he scandal that has completely turned his world upside down and could possibly mean losing his position on the team.    At the advice of his agent, he goes to LA for a little while in hopes that the scandal dies down. Due to his loyalty to his best friend, he cannot tell his side of the story.  Then he meets Lennox and while the attrazction is instant, and he knows that she is the last thing he needs right now, he cannot resist.

I loved Rush!!  He is the perfect book boyfriend.  He is loyal to a fault, to the point where he will protect the person that means the most to him, even if it costs him everything. He is hot and sexy with a he heart of gold.  He was absolutely perfect.

Lennox is beautiful, strong and sassy but lately she has been questioning herself.  She is determined to prove that there is more to her than just her looks.  And that she is just as capable as any man of doing her job.  That is what I loved about her!

Lennox and Rush’s story was sexy and hot, but also brought out the emotions.  There were moments between Lennox and her family that caused the tears to start.  Their relationship may have started out as just sex, but it became so much more than that.  I loved how Ms. Bromberg slowly peeled back the layers of Lennox and Rush.  How much they trusted each other with their deepest secrets, feelings and insecurities.  Because they both had them.  Lennox was everything that Rush needed, and everything he never thought he wanted.  Rush was that person that Lennox could feel like herself with and confide in.  When they were together, things between them were just so easy.

Hard to Hold is book two in the series and it was perfect.  I have always loved Ms. Bromberg’s books because she knows how to bring the angst, the drama and the emotions.  She has the ability to write characters that you cannot help fall for.  They are flawed and yet perfect at the same time.  And she more than delivered with this one.  I cannot wait until the next book.
