Review and Giveaway: Temporary Bliss by B.J. Harvey

Synopsis

*Disclaimer - There is absolutely no cheating in this book. However, this book does contain descriptive and super hot sex scenes that will make you blush and leave you hot and bothered. Make sure you have you husband, partner, boyfriend or significant other nearby when reading, or else batteries. Lots and lots of batteries*

Makenna Lewis cringes at any mention of the word commitment. She doesn’t want or need a relationship, but she does like sex (who doesn't).

That explains Noah, Sean, and Zander, her three 'friends with benefits'.

They know the score, they know they're not the only one, and each of them provide her with a different physical need that she craves and enjoys.

Until a late night encounter with the delicious Daniel Winters turns her preconceived notion of no-commitment completely on its head.

Soon she finds herself feeling things she vowed never to feel again, and when Daniel pushes for more than she’s willing to give, she falters.

What do you do when something that you’ve known to be so wrong in the past feels so damn right?

If you’re Mac, you run and hide.

But is Daniel the type of man who takes no for an answer?

4 star review by Faith Dotson

Makenna Lewis does not do relationships…at all. Never again will someone abuse the love that she once had to give. She has all that she needs with the three men she keeps, and they all know the score. She is happy with the way things are in her life: three men that give her what she needs, a career, and the support of her best friend Kate. That is until one night on the L heading home from her job, she accidentally drops her cell phone to have it retrieved by whom she would like to be the fourth man that gives her what she needs.

“All of Daniels’s physical attributes are already measuring mighty high on the Makenna scale of hotness, but that laugh…the low baritone timbre that can stop wars, solve world hunger, and cure women of their need for underwear all at the same time…it is the work of the devil. I swear to God, all he’d have to do is lie there and laugh all day, and I swear I could sit on his chest and get off.”

Daniel Winters…well Daniel is just plain YUMMY!!! He’s hot, successful, patient, and funny and will make your heart swoon at the understanding he has throughout the whole book. Oh, and let’s not forget…he has those panty melting DIMPLES!!! This man is forever material.

“Ha-fucken-ha! I dropped my phone, and he picked it up and gave it back to me. Let me tell you, this man is fine. Actually, scratch that, he is the definition of fine. Businessman fine. Hotness wrapped up in a smoking hot volcano of fine.”

After three dates, yes three because her best friend Kate bets her that she can do three dates without jumping in the sack with Daniel, Mac finds herself having feelings that she has sworn off. Daniel is persistent in his pursuit of Mac. He doesn’t understand why Mac fights relationships and runs away every time, but he accepts it. He takes all that Mac is willing to give him. But what happens when Daniel finally has it and wants more? Is he just as determined to show Mac that he is the one that can heal her and be the man that she needs?

“So I can prove to you that I am everything you need and more. So that you can realize how much I want you in every way possible. So that you can stop freaking out and walking on egg shells around me because you’re scared I’m going to leave.”

I will admit…I can relate with Mac. Seriously, with a past like hers, it’s no wonder the walls went into place but, there were so many times I found myself giving her a “little talking to”. She is funny and quick witted, and truly does have a heart of gold. Delicious Daniel is just what she needs in her life. He is the only one that is able to tame her, break down her walls and help her heal and move on from her horrible past. She is very guarded…that is until Superman is able to break through and love her the way she deserves.

“You’re my forever girl. My Lois Lane. You always have been, and if I have my way, you always will be.”
The secondary characters add some fun to this read. Kate, Mac’s best friend, is all about love and finding the right man. I thank her for making the bet with Mac. Also, Mac’s three friends with benefits, add friendship and the conversations with Mac throughout the book, you can honestly tell they care a great deal about their “friend”.

This was an awesome read. From the tears running down my face (yes, I had an ugly cry!), to the laugh out loud moments, and the moments where I just curled up and silently whispered, “Atta boy.” The author shows that it’s not only the man with commitment issues; the ladies have them just as well. Daniel believes in love and has some strong emotions. Mac and Daniel’s difference work so well and makes this a knock out read. Looking forward to Bliss #2…Kate’s story.
