Blog Tour: Code Name: Sentinel by Sawyer Bennett

Code Name: Sentinel (Jameson Force Security, Book #2)
Sawyer Bennett
Release Date: September 10, 2019

As a former member of the United States Secret Service, I’m no stranger to putting my life on the line in the name of duty. Having left the nation’s capital to re-settle in Pittsburgh, the skills I acquired during my tenure in Washington have made me a valued member of the team at Jameson Force Security. But when the President comes seeking a favor to protect his niece, I find myself on the fast track back to the Oval Office.

Simply put… she’s beyond brilliant. A nationally renowned energy scientist, Barrett Alexander is on the verge of a breakthrough that will change the world. Unfortunately, that has also made her the target of a suspected terrorist cell. And while Barrett doesn’t believe she’s in any real danger, the President isn’t willing to take chances with her life.

As the threats against Barrett become more calculated, I decide taking her on the run is her best chance of survival. Danger, isolation, and attraction ensure we grow closer than I’d ever thought possible. When I realize I want to keep her safe for reasons that have nothing to do with my job and everything to do with the woman I’ve fallen in love with, no one is safe from the hell I’ll rain down on those that threaten her.

Review by Trinette Dungee

Cruce Britton has protected one of the most important people in the country the Vice-President of the United States (Now the current POTUS). He’s hung up his Secret Service badge and is now a part of the Jameson Security Force, but a request from The President has him headed back to Washington to protect what will become the most important person in his life.
Barrett Alexander is the Brainiac of all Brainiac’s. She’s about to unleash a discovery that could put the world on a whole new path. There’s someone out there that doesn’t want this discover to make it to the public. Much to her dismay she’s whisked away to a remote island until it’s safe for her to return. For someone who works twenty hours out of the day, a tropical island is not what Barrett considers practical, but Barrett quickly learns not only is this island practical, but she gets a crash course from Cruce in relaxing and love.
Once again, I must run my disclaimer that I might be slightly biased when it comes to Sawyer Bennett’s books, but damn this woman gets me every time.
I loved these two!! This is a rarity for me because usually the female character drives me bonkers, but I really liked Barrett. She is a nose-in-the-books type of girl that doesn’t focus on her appearance very much but at the same time she’s girly, she can be sassy, she’s resilient and when she needs to be, she can be one tough cookie. She’s been through a lot, losing her parents and being raised by her uncle (the current POTUS). She’s had some relationships, but nothing earth shattering.
Cruce? Well, I got of knew he’d be a big ole teddy bear when we met him in “Genesis” and that I’d like him but getting a broader picture of him was really good. There’s just something about a man who isn’t afraid to throw his heart into the ring. While he was hesitant to do so (and I completely understand why), when it came time to throw caution to the wind. He didn’t give it a second thought.
The chemistry for these two was obvious from the start to them and to others around them. I liked the way their relationship progressed. I loved how Cruce catered to Barrett’s neurosis/idiosyncrasies without patronizing her. How he “learned her” enough to understand what she needed and when she needed it. I loved how Barrett relaxed him enough that he felt comfortable enough with her to let his guard down.

Short, sweet, and to the point…another series of amazing men that make you swoon!!! There a more Jameson Men to come (and a woman), and I can’t wait to meet the rest of them!!!

Review: Cherry Bomb by Carmel Rhodes

My heart doesn’t beat, it ticks.

It’s been that way since I was sixteen years old and I caught my sister in bed with my boyfriend.

I gave my heart to a boy who didn’t deserve it, then spent the next few years indulging in hard drugs and even harder sex.

Life is easier when you don’t get attached. ๐‚๐š๐ฌ๐ฎ๐š๐ฅ. ๐๐จ ๐œ๐จ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ข๐ญ๐ฆ๐ž๐ง๐ญ๐ฌ. That’s the rule. At least it was before he came along.

Cash Davidson is the tattooed prince who walked into the restaurant where I work and turned my life upside down.

He is everything I never knew I needed. There’s just one problem

๐™๐™ž๐™˜๐™ .

Review by Jen Skewes

This is the first book that I have read from this author and I cannot wait to read more.  Cherry Bomb was exactly the book that I love to read. A taboo romance between two people who whose age difference is one that many would frown up, but that’s not all, they find that they are connected in a way that screams off limits.

Cherry is a nineteen-year old who is trying to move on from her past. The one that broke her heart. She is beautiful but has a hard time seeing herself that way.  She is smart and sassy, but also self-destructive.  With her best friend by herself she is living her life the way that makes her happy.  Not looking for love or a relationship, concentrating on school.  Until she meets a hot older British man at the restaurant where she works at.  He is simply irresistible, with his tattoos and accent.  She expects nothing more than a one-night stand with Cash, but once she spends one night with him, she knows that one night will not be enough.

Cash is single, has one failed relationship and a daughter that he is finally be able to meet and try to connect with.  He quits his job and moves to a new town in hopes of forming a relationship with his daughter.  He’s smart, hot, and has had his fair share of woman.  When he meets Cherry there is something about this young girl that has caught his eye. After one night he knows that he wants more.  When he’s not with her, he can’t stop thinking about her, and when he is with her, he can’t keep his hands off of her.  Everything seems to be going great until he finds out that Cherry is not only his daughter’s roommate, but best friend.  Cherry and Cash know that they cannot be together, but they just cannot seem to stay away. Will the risk of losing a best friend and a daughter that you just met be worth it?

I loved this book!!!  I loved the relationship between Cash and Cherry. She may be only nineteen, but she is not some naรฏve girl who is smitten with an older man.  She knows that what they have has an expiration date.  She believes it in her heart, regardless of how she feels about him.  What I loved is she pushes him away and he pulls her back in.  I love that in some way they can both let their guard down with each other.  It did not matter that there was an age difference or that she is best friends with Cash’s daughter.  Everything about the two of them just felt so right.

Cherry Bomb is hot and sexy with just the right amount of drama and angst.  I devoured this book.  It wasn’t just Cherry ad Cash that I loved.  The side characters were all fantastic.  Whether it was Logan and his angry bitter attitude, or Arden and her amazing friendship with Cherry.  This book was written so well, the scenes were hot, the chemistry between the two of them was intense.  I did not want this book to end!!  I cannot wait for the next one!!

My life is over.
I swore I would never work at the whiskey distillery with my last name on it, that I would never be a part of my father’s legacy. But when I graduated with my art degree and realized there were no jobs, the devil appeared, and I sold my soul, agreeing to work in the family business if he’d give me the art studio I’d always dreamed of.
It can’t be that bad, I thought.
Until I realized my new boss was Logan Becker.
The Becker brothers have a reputation for being trouble, and since I love trouble, it’s no surprise to me that I’m infatuated by that forbidden fruit the first day I walk into the distillery. That lean, whiskey-eyed, too-hot-for-his-own-good man hates me — and I can’t blame him. His family has been at war with mine for decades, and for good reason.
The Beckers and the Scooters are the Montagues and Capulets of Stratford, Tennessee.
But if he’s Romeo, and I’m Juliet? Well… we all know how that story ends — and for that reason, I tell myself to steer clear.
Because if my father finds out I’m falling for Logan Becker, my life actually will be over.
And Logan’s will be, too.
Neat is a stand-alone book in the Becker Brothers Series.

Review: Finding Storm by Samantha Towle

The son of an icon.

He was a legend. Rock royalty.

A man I never met.

But I’m measured against him in every aspect of my life.

The only time I feel like me … the real me … is when I’m onstage with my band. But the more we grow in popularity, the more people compare me to him.

I’m not him. And I never will be. If only everyone could figure that out for themselves.

I need a break from it all.

Then, a confrontation has me jumping in my car, putting LA in my rearview mirror. And a stupid mistake ends up with my car on the side of the road. And straight into the path of a girl who is the exact opposite of everyone else in my life.

She’s like everything I used to know.

And she has no clue who I am.

Even if she did, I don’t think she’d care.

She thinks I’m cavalier.

I think she’s intriguing. And hot. Let’s not forget hot.

I’m stuck in this town overnight while my car is being fixed. But I’m thinking I’m gonna stick around a bit longer.

I’m Storm Slater, lead guitarist in Slater Raze and the only child of the late, great Jonny Creed. But, here, right now … I’m nobody. Just a regular guy.

I’m liking it a whole lot.

And I’m liking her even more.

Review by Lisa Kane

Storm Slater is the lead guitarist for Slater Raze, but his biggest claim to fame is the fact that he is the only child of the late Jonny Creed, of the Mighty Storm.

He never met his father but after his mom died he lived with Tru and Jake Wethers. Along with Denny Daley and Tom Carter he was raised by rock star royalty.

His own band is famous and has a huge following. But lately, there is a restlessness inside him. Even the music, the women, the alcohol don't bring an excitement to his life.

I don't.
I feel...nothing.
Bored of the same old shit.

But something traumatic occurs that turns Storm's life upside down. So he takes his beloved Maserati Gran Turismo and gets the hell out of LA.  He's tired, upset and not paying attention when he feeds his beast of a car diesel instead of gasoline and she blows smoke in protest. He's forced to call for a tow truck.

Stevie Cavalli helps runs her gran's local B & B. Her dad and brother, Beck own an auto repair shop. She does them a favor by going out on the tow call from Storm. She can't help but be a little in awe of the Adonis needing a lift. Since she discovered her fiancee sticking his wick in a pretty coed, she's had no interest in guys. But this one has her heart pumping....

The thing about Stevie is -she's a little different. She's never been one to worry about other people's opinion. She's always stepped to her own beat. That includes music-her taste is unconventional. So she has no idea that it's Storm Slater in front of her.

"Um...usually, at this point, you would tell me your name. I do kind of need it for the paperwork back at the garage." Well, my dad does.
"Oh. Yeah. It's...Nick."

Hmmm...oh this is getting good.

I love a book with both POV from the main characters.

Stevie thinks I'm some jacked-up rich boy who has to have expensive things.

How long can this charade go on?

Now you might be surprised at Stevie's reaction when Nick AKA Storm's identity is revealed. But that's not the real story. How Stevie makes Storm feel, when feelings are something that he hasn't had much of lately, that's the story. But she lives in Arizona and he's a rock star back in LA.

He was never here forever. He has a life in LA. His band is there.

Sometimes things have to fall apart before they can fall into place.

"Stupid men lose smart women."

There are so many secondary characters whose stories need to be told. Stevie's brother Beck is one. Storm's bandmates, Cash, Raze and Levi's too. I'm hoping Samantha is on the same page as me. Her mind needs to be overflowing with all these great stories I need to be written.

I'm not gonna lie-getting glimpses of Jake, Tru, the kids and my boys Denny and Tom sure didn't suck. The Storm series remains one of my favs and I can never get enough of my mates!

"I'm not willing to lose this. Lose you."

Blog Tour: Broken Knight by LJ Shen

"Everyone needs to read this book. "

- Harloe Rae, USA Today bestselling author.

Broken Knight, an all new standalone about first loves, betrayal and loss from USA Today bestselling author L.J. Shen, is available now!

Not all love stories are written the same way. Ours had torn chapters, missing paragraphs, and a bittersweet ending.
Luna Rexroth is everyone’s favorite wallflower.
Underneath the meek, tomboy exterior everyone loves (yet pities) is a girl who knows exactly what, and who, she wants—namely, the boy from the treehouse who taught her how to curse in sign language.
Who taught her how to laugh.
To live.
To love.
Knight Cole is everyone’s favorite football hero.
This daredevil hell-raiser could knock you up with his gaze alone, but he only has eyes for the girl across the street: Luna.
But Luna is not who she used to be. She doesn’t need his protection anymore.
When life throws a curveball at All Saints’ golden boy, he’s forced to realize not all knights are heroes.
Sometimes, the greatest love stories flourish in tragedy.

5 Amazing Stars!
Review by Lisa Kane

I have read everything this author has written. Each book has been unique, and yet the common denominator is the consistency in the writing. The books are lengthy but there are no wasted words.

I am loving this second generation series. Knight Cole is the son of Rosie and Dean and Luna Rexroth is Trent's daughter. His wife Edie has helped to raise her since her own mother took off when she was a baby.

Knight has lived his whole life watching out for Luna. For reasons known only to her, she is mute. It's not that she can't talk, she just chooses not to talk. Reading each book, the reader knows that eventually Luna and Knight will end up together. But theirs is not an easy ride...

"Ride or die," he whispered into the shell of my ear.
I knew he meant his promise.

I thought this would be about their slow transition from friends to lovers. It's what Knight's always wanted but Luna has always called the shots. Knight is the hot football player, rich and privileged, with the world at his feet. And yet, he hurts for a love that is not his, for the things in his life that he can't control.

There are parts in this book that just about killed me. Seriously, I've cried reading Ms. Shen's books before, but this one-I'm talking buckets. I couldn't even see at one point, my heart hurt so badly.

"Remember, my love. The sun will rise tomorrow. It always does."

I will not spoil this plot for anyone. This is one of those books that you have to just jump into blindly. Make no assumptions, just let the words take over and capture you. You may not like every place they take you, but in the end it will all be worth it!

"Our love always had a pulse. Sometimes it was faint. Sometimes it was beating so hard I couldn't hear anything else. But it would never die."

Right now I wanted to just be here in silence with my best friend. And somehow, I don’t know how, but Luna sensed it. So we sat there for what felt like two hours but was probably a lot less, until I opened my eyes again. Her eyes were closed, too. I watched her for a while.
When she opened her eyes, it felt like she took something away from me.
“Let’s jump,” she said.
“I’m quite fond of my limbs, Moonshine.”
“Stop being such a big baby.”
“Big, quarterback baby who just finished a football season in one piece and would like to keep all his body parts intact.”
She crawled out of the treehouse and settled on the branch. It was thick, but I doubted it could carry my muscular ass for more than a few seconds before snapping. I rolled my eyes and settled next to her. She slipped her hand in mine.
“Three, two, one.”
It was a short, sweet way down.

From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Rachel Van Dyken comes a new story in her Seaside Pictures series…

It’s not every day you're slapped on stage by two different women you've been dating for the last year.

I know what you're thinking. What sort of ballsy woman gets on stage and slaps a rockstar? Does nobody have self-control anymore? It may have been the talk of the Grammy's.

Oh, yeah, forgot to mention that. I, Ty Cuban, was taken down by two psychotic women in front of the entire world. Lucky for us the audience thought it was part of the breakup song my band and I had just finished performing. I was thirty-three, hardly ready to settle down.

Except now it's getting forced on me. Seaside, Oregon. My band mates were more than happy to settle down, dig their roots into the sand, and start popping out kids. Meanwhile I was still enjoying life.

Until now. Until my forced hiatus teaching freaking guitar lessons at the local studio for the next two months. Part of my punishment, do something for the community while I think deep thoughts about all my life choices.

Sixty days of hell.

It doesn't help that the other volunteer is a past flame that literally looks at me as if I've sold my soul to the devil. She has the voice of an angel and looks to kill—I would know, because she looks ready to kill me every second of every day. I broke her heart when we were on tour together a decade ago.

I'm ready to put the past behind us. She's ready to run me over with her car then stand on top of it and strum her guitar with glee.

Sixty days. I can do anything for sixty days. Including making the sexy Von Abigail fall for me all over again. This time for good.

Damn, maybe there’s something in the water.

**Every 1001 Dark Nights novella is a standalone story. For new readers, it’s an introduction to an author’s world. And for fans, it’s a bonus book in the author’s series. We hope you'll enjoy each one as much as we do.**

Review by Lisa Kane

I love Rachel Van Dyken's Seaside series. I have to admit though, there were so many characters in this story, that I had to keep going back to the previous books to keep it all straight. (Maybe a character tree like they use for family trees to make it easier!)

Ty Cuban had a bit of an incident while on stage with his band Adrenaline. To do penance, he's agreed to go to Seaside in Oregon and teach at a kids music camp. What he doesn't know is that Abigail Von, his ex, is also there.

It's been ten years since their relationship crashed and burned. Ten years since either of them has really felt alive. But Ty resents Abigail for breaking his heart. He's refused to give it to any one else-screw 'em and leave them before he can get hurt is the way he's lived his life. When Abigail left, he felt alone and abandoned. No one will ever do that to him again.

Abigail is not exactly thrilled to see him either. She's questioned her decision to leave him a hundred times. Seeing him will only dig up all the feelings she's tried to keep buried.

But things don't always work out the way we planned. It seems fate just keeps putting both of them in each other's path.

I love a good novella, they make for quick reads that pack a lot of punch without taking up oodles of reading time. Abandoned is a quick read, but has tons of angst and humor. Getting to spend time with all the secondary characters who were the main attraction in previous stories is a huge plus!
