As a star left-winger for the Pittsburgh Titans, Atlas Karolak thrives on the ice but keeps his

personal life uncomplicated. That all changes when tragedy strikes, pushing him into an

unlikely partnership that tests his patience, challenges his heart, and threatens to rewrite

everything he thought he knew about love and family.

Playing professional hockey wasn’t just a dream, it was the only one that ever mattered. I’ve

worked my whole life for this career, and now that I’m playing for the Pittsburgh Titans, I’m

exactly where I want to be. My life feels complete.

Losing my best friend to cancer shatters me in ways I didn’t see coming. And as I’m trying to

figure out how to say goodbye, I’m blindsided again—because he’s named me and Maddie St.

James as joint guardians of his daughter.

Maddie and I… we’re not friends. We’re barely acquaintances. If I’m oil, she’s water, and we’ve

never managed to mix without friction. But for the sake of a little girl who’s already lost too

much, we need to find neutral ground and figure out how to co-parent.

Are we capable? I’d like to think so. Are we scared out of our minds? Without a doubt. Can we

put our differences aside and work together? Honestly, it depends on the day. But when stress

turns into stolen glances, which turn into nights we can’t take back, our partnership gets a

whole lot more complicated.

Because what started as obligation is starting to feel a lot like forever.

Trinette Dungee's 4 Star Review

This latest installment of the Pittsburgh Titans was a quick read with a feel-good vibe despite tragedy.

Thrown together by a tragedy, Atlas and Madison must learn to move away from their disdain for one another to honor the request to raise the daughter of their deceased friend.

When Gray Donovan’s request in his will is for Atlas and Madison to raise his daughter Grayce, it comes as a complete shock to them both. Not because he chose either of them, but because he chose both. Not only has Grayce been left in their care, Gray wants them to adopt Grayce and be her mom and dad. Doing this will require major changes in both of their lives.

Gray and Atlas have been best friends since childhood. They’ve always been there for one another and have been each other’s constant. Adulthood and careers have them living miles away from each, but their bond remained strong. Being a professional hockey player for the Pittsburgh Titans doesn’t allow Atlas as much physical time with Gray and his daughter, but he’s always been just a phone call away. Not being physically there as much as liked during his friend’s final days, Atlas is determined to honor his friend most important last wish/request. Atlas must now learn to juggle being a dad with being a professional hockey player, and learn to get along with Maddie, not just for Gray, but for Grayce. Having parents that were never there, he was making it his personal mission that Grayce never felt neglected.

Maddie has led a very closed off life. Other than Gray, she has no other true friends. Since meeting in college Gray has been her family. Being there for him and Grayce during his illness, she always knew Grayce would be hers. What she wasn’t expecting was to have to share her with Atlas. In her opinion Atlas isn’t prepared to be a full time dad. His lifestyle has done nothing to prepare him for this responsibility, and she’s not convinced he won’t decide to one day abandon this responsibility. Growing up in foster care, she understood what it was like to not have security, and she was determined that Grayce would never have that experience.

I am not a fan of high angst or that dreaded third act breakup, and this story had the potential for both, so I braced myself. Color me surprised that there was neither in this book. This book was truly about two people coming together under the worst circumstances possible, committing to the same cause and learning to navigate their new lives and along the way, learning more about each other and discovering parts of themselves they never knew. I thoroughly enjoyed these characters.  They each showed up knowing who they were and what they needed to work on to make the situation work. While Maddie was definitely the harder sell for this new life, her backstory completely justified her hesitation.

I appreciated how Atlas did things to assure Maddie once learning her background and how Maddie eventually gave Atlas the berth to acclimate himself with Grayce; once learning his experience growing with his parents. What I appreciated most was the communication between the two. There weren’t huge “misunderstandings” that led to unnecessary tension. It was obvious that each was jealous of the other’s relationship with Gray that fueled their dislike for one another, but once they realized they played different parts in his life and could give insight on Gray at different times in his life, these two really liked each other. Banter is always a win for me and theirs was great. This all made the inevitable falling in love, seamless.

I love how Gray was just as much a part of this story as Atlas and Maddie, but not in a heartbreaking way.

He lives by a set of rules. She might be his one exception.

I just wanted a distraction, something to take the edge off before facing a wedding I was dreading. So on the flight back to New York, I signed up for a dating app. Harmless enough, right?

Wrong.

Turns out, it wasn’t just any app—it catered to people with very specific tastes. By the time I realized it, I was already on my date.

Tall, confident, and sinfully handsome, Jagger Langston seemed like the full package. The chemistry between us was instant—electric enough to burn the whole city down. Though things took a turn when we figured out I’d misunderstood who should join the app. We laughed it off, said goodbye, and went our separate ways.

Or so I thought.

Until I walked into my new internship Monday morning, ready to put the weekend behind me, and there he was—my boss.

Now I’m caught between the rules he lives by—and the temptation to make him break every single one of them.

Lisa Kane's 4 Star Review

Sutton Holland joins a dating app called Dare. This leads her to meet Jagger Langston, who's into some things Sutton isn't. They part amicably and figure that's it. Only Sutton meets Jagger again when it turns out that he is her new boss for her summer internship. Awkward!

It's obvious that their chemistry is explosive, but Sutton's more of a relationship girl and Jagger, well he's anything but interested in a relationship. He keeps his distance and his emotions in check. Sutton gets under his skin and if he were any other guy-well then maybe they could have a chance, but he's not.

The Exception has lots of humor and steam and yes, some really sad elements. Jagger's past is slowly revealed, and it's complicated. I will be honest, I lost a little interest in some of these parts. They just didn't jive for me.

All in all, this book help my interest. A big turn off was a mention of a character getting a dog from a pet store. I feel like that was just a wrong choice for the character. Not something I could see them doing-they would seem more like a rescue a pet from a shelter sort of person.

Things heat up on and off the track when the first female driver in Formula International history goes head-to-head with one of the sport’s biggest names. Formula Dreams is a high-speed enemies-to-lovers standalone romance.

Francesca Accardi is rewriting the record books at Titans Racing. With the first female team owner in her corner and the weight of history on her shoulders, she knows the only way to silence doubters is to win. Every lap. Every race.

Ronan Barnes dominates on Sunday and dares the world to judge him on Monday. Arrogant, electric, relentless, he has no time for niceties—or for the rookie who refuses to yield. Forced together for press tours and charity laps, their sniping becomes a spark neither can shake. But rival teams don’t tolerate distractions, sponsors spook fast, and one misstep could cost Francesca her seat and Ronan his shot at the championship.

When Ronan’s private life—and his mother’s addiction—become an issue he can no longer avoid, Francesca is there as his emotional support. Compassion cracks his armor. He defends her in the paddock; she stands beside him when it matters. Enemies become allies. Allies become something no rule book can define.

With a title on the line, they must choose: her hard-won seat, his crown, or a future together—if they dare cross the line.

4 Star Review by Trinette Dungee

Brienne Norcross is truly bringing The Titans franchise to the forefront. Not only did she rebuild an entire hockey team and make them Stanley Cup Champions, but she bought a Formula International racing team. The Titans’ racing team is slowly but surely making a name for themselves and now they have the first female FI driver, Francesca Accardi.

Francesca knows she has her work cut out for her. She has to prove she not just a media publicity stunt or a DEI addition to the sport. She has to prove she earned this spot, and she’s made it this far due to her hard work and talent. Her biggest challenge doesn’t seem to be proving herself on the track but getting to know her colleague Ronan Barnes who has made a name for himself as a playboy, and who has been the cause of tension between him and other drivers.

While he’s a known party boy and no stranger to the tabloids and media, friendships aren’t what Ronan Barnes is known for especially considering he ruined the one real friendship he had with Lex Hamilton. His private life and family dynamic has taught him to erect walls and keep them firmly in place. When the powers that be decided to use a few drivers in a media promo Ronan is paired with Francesca. Forced proximity has put him on her radar and determined to get to the root cause of his standoff-ish ways.

Throughout this series I have not been a fan of Ronan Barnes.  I was curious about him, but not a fan….he hasn’t been the most savory character. Starting Formula Dreams, I still wasn’t a fan and to be honest, it took me almost halfway through the book to like him even a little bit. Getting his backstory and his family dynamic, I understood him more and as his walls were starting to be chipped away, so did my disdain for him. Dual POVs typically have both characters struggling with something and developing. For me, this storyline was more about Ronan that Francesca. That’s not to say she didn’t have her moments, but it was Ronan who took us along for the ride. That also doesn’t mean she important, she definitely was she was that support Ronan needed. She was the person who helped to bring his story to life. Francesca was kind of like a bull in a China shop when it came to getting to know Ronan, LOL. She’s pushy, nosey, and persistent. Once she decided she wanted to get to know him, and understand him, she did not give up. She was all up in his business and poor Ronan didn’t stand a chance!!

This was a quick enjoyable read, low on angst and an average amount of spice. I don’t know if I would classify this as enemies to lovers because they weren’t really enemies, more like misunderstood colleagues. If you are like me and know nothing about F1 driving, going into this series there’s some very technical verbiage around racing that can lose you, so I’ll give you some advice that came straight from the horse’s mouth. Watch Formula 1: Drive to Survive on Netflix. There are seven seasons of this docuseries, and I watched them all in two weeks. It’s very addictive and very informative.
