Blog tour review and interview: This Man Confessed by Jodi Ellen Malpas

Synopsis

The very place where their passionate love affair began, The Manor fills with guests on what should be the happiest day of Ava and Jesse’s lives. She has accepted that she’ll never tame the fierceness in Jesse, and she doesn't want to. Their love is profound, their connection powerful, but just when she thinks that she’s finally got beneath his guarded exterior, more questions arise which lead Ava to believe that Jesse Ward may not be the man she thinks he is. He knows too well how to take her to a place beyond ecstasy…but will he also drive her to the brink of despair?

It’s time for this man to confess.

5 star review

From the moment I first read This Man I was completely sucked in and could not get enough of Ava and Jesse.  I quickly became a huge fan of this series and of Jodi as well.  So when This Man Confessed was finally downloaded on my I-pad I cannot even begin to tell you how excited I was.  Like a kid on Christmas morning would probably be the best way to describe it.  I needed more Jesse and Ava, I needed to see how their story would end and most of all I needed to know the answers to all the questions I had. I could not wait to get wrapped up in the world of Jesse and Ava.  I honestly have to say that Jodi Ellen Malpas certainly did not disappoint with the last installment of this series.  This Man Confessed was the perfect conclusion to this amazing trilogy.

This Man Confessed starts with the wedding that we have all been waiting for.  And in traditional Jesse and Ava fashion, things don't go as smoothly as expected.  There are some moments and incidents that occur but nothing that the both of them can't handle.  This Man Confessed takes us on the journey of Mr and Mrs. Ward and how they fight to survive as a married couple.  There are moments that cause a little bit of heart ache, and then there are those special moments that will melt your heart and cause your face to light up with a smile.  Jesse and Ava's relationship has always been anything but simple and as a married couple they still face the obstacles that life throws their way.  They face the ghosts of Jesse's past, their own fears and insecurities come into play, and they find themselves facing family issues as well.  I don't want to give anything away and spoil it for you.  But I can say that all your questions will be answered. There will be twists and turns along the way that you never saw coming.  When I thought I had it all figured out, Jodi managed to completely surprise me with what came next.  Jesse and Ave are still just as loveable as they were in the first two books and if possible I think I fell in love with Jesse even more.

"You've made my life as beautiful as you are.  You've made me want to live a worthy existence-a life with you.  All I need is you-to look at you; to listen to you; to feel you.  To love you."

What can I say about the Lord of the Manor, other than I LOVE him.  Jodi has created a character who is complex and intense. And to be honest when I first met this man I wasn't sure whether to love him or hate him. One minute he was frustrating and the next he would do or say something that would melt your heart. But as we kept reading and got beneath this man I began to see what made Jesse who he is. I began to understand him more and fell in with him as a character. After this man confessed it all, we see the vulnerable and emotional side of Jesse. You finally get to see all the hurt and pain that has been plaguing Jesse for years.  You truly understand what he has been through and why he is the person that he is today. Why he is so controlling and possessive when it comes to Ava.  I never doubted his love for her for a second, but after seeing all that he has gone through I understand his emotions and his actions more now.

"Let me see those eyes"
"Why do you always demand to see them?"
"Because when I look into them, I know for sure that you're real."

I love Ava and loved watching her grow and mature. As time went on she began to understand Jesse more and knew when to push and knew when to back off. There were moments in this last installment when Ava did frustrate me with some of the decisions she made but I still loved her as the heroine.  She was strong and independent.   She stood her ground when she needed to, she loved Jesse but she didn't want her relationship with him to cause her to lose a part of herself.   She was there with Jesse to help fight his demons, she stood by his side in the moments that he needed her the most.  There were times when fear caused her to run, but she loved Jesse just as much as he loved her.  She got him in ways that no one else did. They needed each other to breathe, they loved each other in ways that no one understood, it was their love for each other that always managed to bring them back to each other.  But with all the obstacles they face this time around, will the love that they have for each other be enough to overcome it all?

"You keep my heart beating, baby.  And it will only ever beat for you.  Understand?"

I loved Jesse and Ava from the beginning and after reading This Man Confessed I can say that they are truly meant to be and are the perfect couple.  I loved watching their relationship grow and watching the two of them grow as well.  Ava became stronger, while I think Jesse learned to compromise more.   What I also loved about this book is that we got to see more of the playful side of Jesse, which happens to be one of my favorite sides of him. Playful Jesse is carefree, young, in love and simply happy.  Jodi has done an amazing job with the conclusion of Ava and Jesse's story. Their story was one heck of an emotional roller coaster ride with many twists and turns along the way.   Ms. Malpas took two characters who are so opposite but yet completely made for each and made you fall in love with them.   Ava and Jesse had a love that was so intense, and raw and real.  They fought, they argued, secrets were revealed that could destroy them.  But their love for each other was so strong that no matter what obstacle they faced they fought to the end and faced it together.  This Man Trilogy will make you laugh, smile, and even cry.  There are moments where you become frustrated and angry.   But every emotion, every tear, every frustrated moment where you want to throw your e-reader and slap someone was completely worth it.  It was a heck of a journey but one worth taking.  Ms. Malpas wrapped up their story in the perfect way that will leave you with a smile.  And let's talk about the end!  The epilogue was just simply FANTASTIC!!  This Man trilogy is by far one of my favorite trilogies to date and I am sad to see it end.  I am a huge fan of Jodi's and her writing and cannot wait to see what she has in store for us in the future.  I'm hoping for a little of Sam and Kate....hint, hint!

Another amazing job by Jodi Ellen Malpas.....end of!!

Interview with Jesse and Ava

"Seriously Jen, you don't have to sit in front of the computer, I swear that we will not miss Jesse and Ava's skype call." Kristie says while giving Jen the eye. "I know but I am just getting comfy and making sure things are organized and that our questions are in order." Jen says staring at the computer. Lisa laughs and says " Kris look at her, she is freaking out. I don't ever think I have seen her like this before but then again, it is Jesse." Kristie is cracking up shaking her head back and forth. " We should get ready, they will be calling any second now." The computer screen comes to life with the familiar ring tone of skype. Jen is jumping up and down in her chair. She quickly answers the call while Lisa and Kristie scramble to sit down. Jesse and Ava appear on the screen. All three chicks jaws drop open. Kristie whispers " HOLY HELL, they are gorgeous!" Lisa and Jen can only nod in response. Jen has a smile plastered to her face and hasn't blinked once. Lisa gently bumps her back to life. "Ugh, OMG- Thank you so much for taking the time to talk to us. I am Jen and the two ladies behind me are Lisa and Kristie." Jen says not taking her eyes off of Jesse. " So, are you two ready to being?" Lisa asks while giving Jen another push to get it together.

Three Chicks:  Ava, there are many sides to Jesse, playful, controlling, overprotective. Is there one side that you love the most ?

Ava - I love all of him – every single bit, even the unreasonable part. I’ve worked my Lord out. I know when I’m going to win and when I need to keep quiet.

Jesse – Me? Unreasonable? *coughs in disgust* Can I remind you of how many retribution fucks have been delivered in the past few weeks?

Three Chicks:  Ava, do you think that Jesse has changed since you first met him?

Jesse – Yes, I’m crazy now.

Ava – Shut up, Ward. *Smacks his knee* Massively. He’s still an arrogant arse when he wants to be, but I love that part of him. He has every right to be full of himself.

Jesse – I have. The woman knows what she’s talking about.

Three Chicks:  Jesse, everyone says that you are different with Ava, that the controlling possessive Jesse comes out only around her. Can you explain exactly how you are different with her and has she changed you at all?

Jesse – Has she changed me? Yes, like I’ve said, she’s made me fucking crazy. She really knows how to push my buttons. She’s defiant, unreasonable, challenging…but I fucking love her. I’ll keep the countdown for when she’s misbehaving and I’ll always enjoy delivering on whatever fuck is required. She loves it, and don’t let her try and tell you different.

Ava- I wouldn’t!

Jesse – That’s because you know what’s good for you.

Ava- You’re an arrogant arse.

Jesse – I know. *leans over and kisses her…hard*. We have an understanding. I don’t need to spell it out for the world.

Three Chicks:  Jesse, do you think that you could have faced your parents without Ava by your side?

Jesse - I did! She fucked off and left me helpless.

Ava – You’re never helpless.

Jesse – I was that day! Don’t get used to it, though. It won’t happen again.

Three Chicks:  Jesse, you kept so many things a secret from Ava, but why didn't you ever tell her about Lauren?

Jesse - That woman has no place in my world or in this conversation. End of.Three Chicks:  Have you guys have any more escapades on the rowing machine?

Jesse - *grinning* I’ve bought one with a more comfortable seat.

Ava – I prefer the handcuffs.

Jesse - *adjusts his groin* How many more questions are there?

Three Chicks:  Jesse, we need to discuss the wedding for a moment. Why no pictures and were the hand cuffs necessary?

Jesse - You should know by now I’m not much of a traditional man. The handcuffs? Yes, absolutely necessary. I want her permanently nailed to me and I’ll trample anyone who tries to interfere…including her pain in the arse mother.

Three Chicks:  Ava, how did you deal with the most important day of your life and being handcuffed? or are you just used to Jesse's ways that is didn't bother you.

Ava - How did I deal with it? Well, I accepted it, didn’t I?!

Jesse – That is because you know what’s good for you.

Ava –And I didn’t want our congregation to witness the countdown or any Jesse-style fucking.

Jesse – Mouth! My eyes only, baby. So you made the right decision.

Three Chicks:  Why get married at the manor, considering Ava isn't fond of the place?

Jesse - I tried a few other venues, but nothing was available for four weeks. Four fucking weeks! I couldn’t wait that long.

Ava – I do as I’m told.

Jesse – No you don’t.

Three Chicks:  Ava, is your mother still meddling in your lives these days?

Ava - *laughs* She’ll always meddle as long as she knows it winds Jesse up.

Jesse – She’s a pain in the fucking arse.

Ava – Funny, she says the same about you.

Jesse – The woman doesn’t know what she’s fucking talking about.

Ava – Funny…

Jesse – End of!
Three Chicks:  Ava, a lot of people would say Jesse is a little out of control, possessive, and you have put up with all the secrets, woman and drinking. Tell us what you see when you look at Jesse. What do you love about him the most?

*Looks at Jesse on a smile…while he flexes his bicep and kisses it*

Jesse – She can’t resist me. That’ll never change.

Ava- That was my question.

Jesse – But I know the answer, baby. I’m just helping you out.

Three Chicks:  Jesse, what do you love the most about Ava, what was it that drew you towards her that first day you met?

Ava – I was one of the only women he hadn’t slept with, that’s what drew him to me!

Jesse – *scowling* Sarcasm doesn’t suit you, lady.

Three Chicks:  Ava, how is your brother doing?

Jesse – He’s fine, that’s it.

Ava – Fucking hell! My question!

Jesse – Watch your fucking mouth!

Three Chicks:  Five words to describe your life right now.

Ava – Challenging, fulfilling, bright, happy…active

Jesse – Sleepy, retribution, Compromise, Alfresco, Apology. But it seems to be the retribution most lately.

Ava – That’s because you’re unreasonable.

Jesse – You love it.

Three Chicks:  Ava, are you enjoying Peanut butter a little more than you used to?

Ava - No, I can’t stand it.

Jesse – But she loves it when I dip and suck, don’t you, baby?

Ava - *squirms*

Three Chicks:  Jesse, when you overheard the conversation with Ava and Mikael. You were rendered speechless and then felt undeserving of her...why? What was going through your mind at that moment?

Jesse - I don’t like these questions. It’s all part of my history. Let’s leave it there. Are we done? I have one retribution fuck to deliver on.

Ava – What have I done?!

Jesse – I’ll refer you to question 14. Get up. We’re leaving. Our work here is done.

"Jesse, all I have to say is that you are just.... WOW!" Jen manages to speak. Kristie and Lisa's eyes pop open and all start laughing. "Again, thank you so much for taking the time to chat with us. We are sorry we couldn't make it out to you two." Kristie says kindly. "Yes, and also congratulations on everything. You two definitely deserve it." Lisa happily states. " Jen is still staring as Jesse blushing a color we have never seen before. She manages to say goodbye. She reluctantly hits the end call button and turns to us with a sad face but then jumps out of her chair and shouts "Holy Shit! Jesse is freaking hot and I got to see and talk to him. I can die a happy woman now." Lisa and Kristie stare at her in disbelief but then immediately start laughing and Kristie says "I'm glad I am not the only one affected."
