HIS by Brenda Rothert - available now
A contemporary romance, standalone title

BLURB:
Quinn

I’d say I’m down on my luck, but that’s an understatement. I’m flat on my ass. Homeless, hungry and in hiding with my little sister at the age of twenty-one, I’ve never been so desperate. I’ve hit rock bottom when I get an offer I can’t refuse. Sell my body to save my sister? There’s nothing I won’t do to keep her safe. I make the rules and I’m not afraid to defend myself if this rich guy crosses the line. But once I see beneath his cold, calculating façade, the lines aren’t so clear anymore.

Andrew
She’s an intoxicating mix of tough and vulnerable I’ve never known before. This homeless woman who fits right into my upper-class world is running from someone powerful, and I’ll do whatever it takes to protect her. But Quinn isn’t meant to be controlled, so I’m forced to choose between owning her and loving her. I’ve finally met my match, and I’ll do whatever it takes to make her truly mine.

Review by Jen Skewes

I loved this book.  I woke up early on a Sunday morning and started reading it and just devoured this book in one sitting.  I could not put it down and did not want to see it end.

Quinn has been on the run with her sister for a few years now.  She is doing her best to survive and at the same time protect her sister.  But it isn’t easy when no one can know who they really are or where they are from.  Living on the streets is beginning to take a toll on Quinn especially when her sister starts to need medical attention.  At the right moment she is made an offer by a complete stranger that she cannot refuse, one night with Andrew in exchange for $500.  How can she say no?  She needs whatever she can get to help her sister.  But she never thought that one night would turn into six months of being His!!  Can she really be with this man for six months?  Can she really give him what he is looking for?  And honestly I think the question is what is Andrew really looking for?  Why has he made such an offer to her of all people?

When I first met Andrew I wasn’t so sure that I would like him.  Maybe it is because of the way these two met.  He seemed so emotionless, cold and calculated.  But as time went on, you begin to see so much more of Andrew.  Yes he is controlling in a way and at times may act like an ass but when he is with Quinn he is so much more than that.  He was sweet, caring, gentle, patient and very protective of her.  He knew she was hiding something but he also knew that she needed help, she needed to feel safe.  He knew that there was more to her than someone just needing the money.  He never pushed her too far, while this started out as an “agreement” between the two of them, a contract if you will, it turned into much more than that.  Quinn brought out feelings in Andrew that he didn’t expect and maybe wasn’t even ready for.  And Andrew treated her in a way that no one ever has before.  Together I think they showed each other how to love, how to open their hearts and how to live.

Quinn and Andrew are both broken in their own way and both have secrets.  But together they learn to heal.  Their relationship never moved too quickly, was never rushed.  It actually moved at a pace that was just perfect for the two of them.  I love the connection between them.  I loved watching their “business relationship” grow into something more.  Honestly I think from the start these two were connected in a way.  I think that there was always some sort of trust and friendship between them, which is what I loved about this story.

This book has it all, a couple that you will fall in love with, a bit of drama, and a great love story.  But there was also a little bit of suspense as well.  You knew that Quinn is on the run but you have no idea from whom or why.  So as you read you are waiting for that moment to find out the who and the what that has caused her to be in the situations that she is in.  But her story wasn’t the only mystery.  Parts of Andrew's life was a complete mystery and at times I wondered who this man really is.  Until that moment when you see it all and begin to understand who he is and why he seems so private.  I loved Andrew despite my feelings in the beginning.  He proved to be a very loyal, caring and worthy man.  I loved him and Quinn together.  I just wish that we had a little more where his story was concerned.  And for me the conflict at the end seemed to be resolved a bit too quickly.  But overall I loved this book!!  It was a quick and wonderful read
