Do happily ever after’s always have to be so traditional?

Rylee Stafford has asked herself this question since she was eighteen years old. Now, at twenty-eight she still doesn’t have an answer. One thing she knows for sure is even if she can have the unconventional relationship she’s always dreamed of, it would never fly with her family. Her sexual proclivities would never be accepted by them or their social circle.

The truth is Rylee is tired of hiding her feelings. Tired of wanting what she can’t have and so tired of feeling abnormal because she wants a different kind of love.

She’s kept her secret well hidden, especially from Nick, her on again off again love affair. Her secret isn’t their only stumbling block, though—Rylee’s also met someone new. His name is Pete and he sets her heart and soul on fire; he’s sexy, smart, possessive, and he wants her. No matter how much she cares for them she can’t bring herself to tell them the truth. The only way to Rylee’s heart is to have a relationship with both men.

It’s only when Rylee takes her annual vacation does she finally realize her happiness is worth more than what anyone thinks of her. Now the only question is: will Rylee’s alternate lifestyle alienate everyone she loves? Or will she be accepted for the person she’s always been deep down inside?

Review by Jen Skewes

I could not wait for this book.  When I first met Rylee in Chasing Cassidy I was so intrigued by her character.  I wanted to know so much more about this woman.  But I also couldn’t wait to find out if she would not only get her happily ever after but would it be with Nick or Pete.  Now when I read the blurb and even the title of the book I must say that it did not hit me at all that this book would go in a direction that was not what I had expected.  But after reading the beginning and seeing where this story would go I couldn’t have been happier.  I LOVED this book.  I loved everything about it, from the two very hot and sexy men, to a heroine who I loved and admired but at the same time felt so bad for.  I could not get enough of these characters.  Once I started I could not put this book down.

Rylee has always had a love for Nick, her brother’s best friend.  They grew up together and while they started out as friends her love for him turned into so much more.  They have been on again/off again for quite some time.  He has always been there for her, always being her friend before or in addition to her lover.  He is sweet and caring and loves Rylee.  But then she meets Pete and he is different than Nick. He makes her heart race and sparks something inside of her.  She has fallen in love with both men.  She wants to find her happily ever after like her brother and her best friend have found.  But for Rylee things aren't that simple.  For the past 10 years she has struggled with who she really is.  Her idea of happiness and love is an unconventional one.  For Rylee to truly be happy that would mean having both Nick and Pete in her life, together as her lovers.  She feels comfort with both men and being with the both of them is what truly makes her happy.  This is who Rylee is, this is her nature and what she has always wanted but has also  struggled with.  She is afraid that if she tells them her secret she will lose the both of them.  And if by chance they do accept her for who she is and what she wants, what will her family think of her relationship with both men?

I loved so much about this book but let’s start with the two very sexy men that have completely captured Rylee’s heart.  These men both brought something different to their relationship with Rylee.  They both loved her and wanted to make her happy.  They were sweet, loving, caring and very very sexy.  They too have their own past and secrets as well and when I found out exactly what it was it made me just love them even more.   And when these two men loved they loved with their whole heart.

Rylee is an amazing heroine.  I really felt bad for her.  For ten years she has had to hide who she was for fear of rejection not only from the man that she loves but from her parents.  I cannot imagine having to hide yourself, your wants and needs because of fear and in return not being able to find the happiness that you deserve.

Sharing Rylee is a m/f/m and m/m/f romance which I am a big fan of.  But for me personally it has to be done right.  It has o have the emotion n love between the chapters.  For me it can't be all sex and lust.   Ms. Kelly completely nailed this one.  What I loved the most was how deeply these characters loved each other.  There was never any jealousy between them or the feeling of being neglected by the other.  They truly loved each other and wanted everyone to be happy.  They all worked so good together.  The fit together like 3 perfect pieces to a puzzle.  They completed each other with each of them bringing something different to the relationship.  Their love was so beautiful to watch because that is what is was about.  Yes the sex was hot and steamy but that is not what it was all bout.  This story is about three people who love each other so deeply, about three people who need each other to feel whole.  D. Kelly really blew me away with this story.    It was sweet, sexy and just beautiful.  I loved seeing so much of Zack and Cassidy and loved the addition of Richard who has been Rylee’s therapist for the past 10 years.  I loved their friendship and he was an fantastic addition to this cast. Wonderful job by D. Kelly.

PAPERBACK

Excerpt

“Nick, I think you should go.”

I feel like she punched me in the gut, but I’m going to take Zack’s lead on this one. He never let Cassidy pull too far away, and I’m not going to let Rylee shut me out now.

Silently, I get dressed. She’s still standing by the bathroom with her arms across her chest. She doesn’t want to get close to me because she doesn’t want to admit her feelings for me.

“Rylee,” I say, walking toward her at a slow pace. She eyes me up and down and presses herself as close to the wall as possible. She’s not getting away from me.

I pull her into my arms and crush my lips to hers. My hand weaves into her sexy, just-fucked hair, and I pull her tightly to my lips. I kiss her with all the passion I’ve had building inside of me for years and she feels it. I know she does because she hasn’t stopped whimpering the entire time her tongue has been dueling with mine. When I finally slow the kiss, she whimpers even more, and when I slowly pull away, her fingers go immediately to her lips as if she’s trying to savor the magic we just shared.

“I’ll go for now, Ry, but not for long. I’m going to check in on you every day, but I’ll give you space and stay away. Don’t take too long because I want you now more than ever, Rylee. I always have and I always will.”
I place a soft kiss to her forehead and leave.
