Review: Heart of the Devil by Meghan March

It started as a game. She was nothing but my pawn.

But I was quick to see the error in my ways, and now she is everything I never knew I needed.

The value of a woman like India Baptiste is beyond measure.

But the problem with being a man like me? I’ve already screwed this up, and there’s no guarantee India will take me on for one last bet.

I'll do whatever I have to do. Drop to my knees and offer her the only thing I have left. The one thing that’s only ever been hers—the heart of the devil.

What a fantastic series Forge Trilogy's turned out to be!

When Luck of the Devil ended (of course it ended on a cliffy, this is a trilogy!) Indy had no idea where Jericho was or if he was even alive. Horrible things had just happened and everything pointed to him being kidnapped or dead. Who betrayed him?

Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.

All Jericho can do is try to save his life. All he can think about is Indy and her safety.

Get back to Indy. Make sure she's safe. Get us the fuck out of this country.

He fights like the devil for his freedom but who is behind all this? Indy is so guilt ridden thinking that she is the reason all of this is happening. Jericho won't let her think that way.

"Don't say that. Nothing could break you. You're the strongest woman I know. No matter what ever happens to me, you will be fine. Do you hear me?

But he's wrong. He doesn't understand. I've fallen completely and irrevocably in love with him, and if something had happened to him, I wouldn't be fine.

These two can conquer anything. Even forces that are hidden. Even secrets that could get them killed. But what happens when it all implodes between them. Was there marriage just for revenge and a business deal?

His gaze turns flinty. "I never should have married you to begin with. It was a mistake."

Okay, this is where I start to reach for my Xanax. Could I feel more pain for Indy right now if I tried?

I'm done being strong.
Now I'm just broken.

Indy has done many things to save her sister. Although I have to say that I think Summer is incredible immature and ungrateful. I really wish she had let her fall down and not been so quick to pick her up. Let the girl earn her own way for once! But Summer's latest hardship gives Indy the excuse she needs to be back in Jericho's world.

In my whole life, she's the one thing I want more than the satisfaction of winning.

Gawd, I love this woman. Her man screwed up, but she's going to make him fight to win her back!

For weeks, I've been drifting without purpose, and nothing could hold my attention.

You get your man, Indy!

But just settle down there, remember all the mystery? Remember someone is trying to kill Jericho? Well what about all that?

I''ll walk into a hail of bullets if it means saving Indy.

Heart of the Devil ties up all those pesky loose ends that have been ebbing and flowing through the three books. Oh, and that is one nice epilogue at the end.

"Until the last beat of my heart," I tell him.
