Review: Devil's Bargain by Natasha Knight

She calls it a devil’s bargain. I call it a deal she can’t refuse.

I was owed a debt and I expected payment.

That payment?
One night in my bed. My rules. The debt cleared, and she could walk away.

There are worse things. And besides, debtors can’t be choosers.

The night started as it should. She obeyed as she should.

But then something happened. Something I was wholly unprepared for. And what I saw changed everything.

I broke my own rules after that. And I didn’t keep my end of the bargain.

Because walking away was no longer an option I would grant her, no matter the cost.

I really loved this book.  I always look froward to one of Ms. Knight's books. Her books are dark but they are always just the right amount of dark and sexy, with a romance in between.  They always manage to capture me, piquing my interest as to how she will make me fall in love with the dark hero.  And somehow she always manages to do an amazing job with it.  Her words always flow so smoothly and once I start reading, I never want to put it down.  And Devil's Bargain was no exception!!

Melissa has a past, one that she is still hiding from and one that she wants to put completely behind her.  But that is easier said than done.  Especially when she is taken against her will and told that she will be paying off the debt of someone from her past.  The payment, one night with Hawk!!  That's when she realizes that maybe she is in more trouble than she thought she was.  She has a choice, whether or not to go through with it, but she's not sure that there really is a choice here.  One night then turns into another proposition, one month with Hawk, and for the month she is his and only his.  She is not sure why he wants this new arrangement, or what it means, but for her own safety and protection she thinks that she has no choice. They both have their rules, one of them being nothing personal.  But how long can that last?  They both have a past that they are keeping to themselves, but at some point it will all come out, it has to right?  What happens when it does?  What happens when the month is over?  You will have to read to find out.

I really loved this book as well as the characters. Hawk is certainly a little bit of a jerk and his world is a little dark, but I loved him.  Because you see him falling for the girl that he shouldn't be falling for.  He's not that guy but there is something about Melissa, and while he may be an ass sometimes, you see how much he cares for her and wants to protecter.  Melissa is a strong girl who is trying to keep herself safe and run from her past as well.  The chemistry and attraction between the two of them is there, whether Melissa wants to admit it or not. They were so good together.

My only issue with the book is tat the ending felt a bit rushed and I felt like part o the story was still left open.  I got to a point in the book where I thought for sure this was q cliffhanger because there didn't seem like there was enough book left to tie up the story.  Maybe certain things were left open for the next characters book?  I guess we shall see.  I also wanted a little more when it came to both of their pasts and how Hawk got where he was. But overall I loved it and I am hoping to see more of these characters in the future'.
