Release Blitz: The Last Piece of His Heart by Emma Scott

From USA Today and Wall St. Journal bestselling author, Emma Scott, comes the third and final novel in the Lost Boys series--a gritty, angsty love story about two lost souls searching for their place in the world, and what it means to be truly found.

The Last Piece of His Heart  by Emma Scott is now live!

At Santa Cruz Central High School, they called them the misfits, the outcasts, the weirdos. But most of us knew them as the Lost Boys...

Ronan Wentz has been to hell and back, and he carries the scars to prove it. Worse, the blood of a monster runs through his veins. After ten years in foster care, eighteen-year-old Ronan is finally reunited with family. His uncle gives him a roof over his head and puts him to work, managing a shabby apartment complex in Santa Cruz, California.

But a second chance is still a second chance. Ronan becomes a solitary hunter, a vigilante, walking the streets at night to keep the nightmares at bay. If he can use the anger burning in his tainted blood to protect instead of hurt, maybe then he'll find the absolution he seeks.

Then he meets Shiloh.

Shiloh Barrera looks like she has it all together. Smart, ambitious and full of artistic creativity she channels into making beautiful one-of-kind jewelry. But Shiloh's cool, capable demeanor is all a front. Her demons drive her to succeed as much as her ambition. To prove her worth to the mother who can't stand to look at her, and who's harboring secrets of her own.

When Shiloh and Ronan meet, the physical attraction is instant and scorching. Neither believe it will last. Falling in love is an impossible pipe dream saved for those less shattered and damaged than they are.

But as hard as they try to resist, the growing feelings between them seem inevitable... until one terrible night destroys Shiloh's dreams and Ronan's future.  When the smoke clears, and the rubble settles, they'll have to choose - do their pasts determine their future, or can they build a new one from the broken pieces of their hearts?

Lost Boys is a new series of interconnected, coming-of-age standalones from USA Today bestselling author Emma Scott.

5 Stars

Review by Jen Skewes

I have not read an Emma Scott book that I did not love. Her stories are unique in their own way, her characters are flawed and real, the writing is flawless, and she makes you feel every emotion.  And you honestly never know what you are going to get!!!  The Last Piece of His Heart was no different.  I absolutely loved this book!!!  The last book in the series and the one that may have broken my heart a little more than the others.  It was beautifully heartbreaking and once I started reading I had trouble putting it down.

This is Ronan and Shiloh’s story.  I have been waiting for this one since I first read this series.  Ronan is the guy that you want to know all about but know that getting that information is going to be hard.  He grew up in foster care, after witnessing one of the most horrific acts.  It left his completely scarred and with the fear that he may be just like the monster whose blood he shares.  At the ae of 18, he finds out that after many years, his uncle has finally been located.  He finally has some family, until he meets his uncle and realizes that nothing is what he had hoped it to be.  He is determined to finish high school regardless of the fact that his Uncle expects him to work instead.  He made a promise and finishing school is what he needs to do..

Shiloh has her own past and issues that she is dealing with.  She is broken in her own way.  She was raised by her Great-Grandmother, always feeling like her mother never wanted her.  She knows her mother and even sees her in the Summer.  Nut her mother acts like she doesn’t even exist.  Shiloh is smart, creative, determined and knows what she wants to do with her life.  And in doing that she hopes to prove to her Mother that she is worthy of her love.

Shiloh and Ronan meet through mutual friends and school.  Ronan is the new kid in school who quickly makes a name for himself and makes friends with Miller, who also happens to be friends with Shiloh.  These two have a connection but they are both so broken, so stuck on their pasts and o determined to not become the people who have hurt them, that they deny their feelings.  Neither one of them want a relationship but at the same time they cannot stay away from each other.

Ronan is the protector of the group, and Shiloh is the sweet friend who will also go out of her way to help Ronan. They both have walls up, both have secrets that not even their best friends know.  Can they somehow find a way to open their hearts up to each other and realize that they are worth loving?

I adored these two so much.  My heart truly broke for them.  They both had stories that just pulled at your heart.  Ronan’s just broke mine completely and to see what he has been through and how it had scarred him emotionally.  But what makes this story so perfect and so beautiful is watching the two of them grow and realize their worth.  They learned to open up together and that was everything.  And thank goodness for Great-Grandma Bibi because that is a woman that everyone needs in their life.

We get to see the characters from books 1 and 2 and even relive some of their memories from their books. Seeing it from Shiloh or Ronan’s POV was so fun to read.  And Ms. Scott gave us a surprise ending that will melt your heart and wish this series wasn’t over.  When you read a series that you love, where the characters feel so real, like you are in their world experiencing it all with them, they stay with you.  Emma Scott knows how to do this with every book of hers that I have read.  Another amazing job.  I cannot wait to see what she has in store for us next.
