Blog Tour: Second Chance Boyfriend

Summary:

Lost. That one single word best describes my life at this very moment. I lost the last games of the season and both my team and my coach blame me. I lost the last two months because I drowned in my own despair like a complete loser. And I lost the only girl who ever mattered because I was afraid being with me would destroy her.
But now I realize how truly lost I am without her. She has become my story…and even though she acts like she’s moved on, I know she still thinks about me just as much as I think about her. She’s beautiful, sweet—and so damn vulnerable, all I want to do is help her. Be there for her. Love her…
If only I could convince Fable to give me a second chance. Then I wouldn’t feel so lost anymore, and neither would she. We could be found together.
Forever.
Our 4.5 star review

I could not wait for Second Chance Boyfriend to be released. I needed to know that Drew and Fable would be ok and that Adele would get what she deserved.  I have to say that this was the perfect conclusion to  Drew and Fable's story.  Monica Murphy did a fantastic job!

Second Chance Boyfriend begins two months after Drew left that letter for Fable asking to be saved.  It's been two months since he sent that letter to her, two months since he left the only girl he has ever loved, two months since Adele's confession.  These last two months for Drew have been miserable, feeling like he has let everyone down.  Over the last two months Drew has done what he knows how to do best, shut down and shut everyone out.  He misses Fable and needs her but his fears and insecurities prevent him from seeing or calling her.  He doesn't think he is good enough for her.  He fears that she will hate him and reject him for leaving her and how can someone as amazing as Fable possibly love someone as damaged as he is?

Fable has been just as miserable without Drew.  She wanted to save him but it's pretty hard to help save someone that won't reach out to you.  While she loves Drew and wants nothing more than to be with him, her focus right now is on taking care of herself and her brother.  After all if Drew really wanted and loved her he would have had some contact with her in the past two months.  Fable accepts a new job from Colin making more money. I will admit, Colin was a little creepy in the beginning and I wasn't completely sure what his intentions were, but as you read further along you realize he was there to simply show Fable how important and valuable she is to herself and those around her.

Drew and Fable do meet again one night while she is working at her new job.  The connection that they both had is still there and just as intense.  They still have the chemistry, and the love they feel for each other is still just as strong.  While Drew believes that Fable may have moved on he knows that his life without her is not complete and he vows to prove to her how much he loves her.  Fable has her own reservations about forgiving Drew and moving on.  He left her once and completely shut her out of his life at a time when he should have needed her the most.  Can these two broken people be able to put aside their fears and insecurities and move on?  Is their love strong enough to get past the hurt and pain of the past?

What I loved about this story is that this was truly Drew and Fable's story, meaning that this was about them forgiving each other, moving on from the past and learning to make it work.  The love they had for each other was so real and so intense, but with that love there also needs to be trust.  Fable needed to know that she could trust Drew again.  She had given her heart to him once and he crushed it when he left.  Fable is a strong and independant woman, which I admire.  But there are times when she needs to lean on others for help and Drew is the one to be there when that happens.

"She holds her heart in my hands.  And for the first time in my life, I give it over to her completely"

I will admit that while I enjoyed Drew and Fable in One Week Girlfriend, I didn't fall in love with Drew or have a connection with him.  He put up this wall that didn't allow Fable to get close to him, and as a reader I didn't get to see that emotional side of him.   But after reading Second Chance Boyfriend, I am completely in love with Drew.  He has matured in this book and has become more emotional.  As a reader you start to feel his emotions, feel the love that he has for Fable and have more of an understanding of what he went through with Adele.  His love to Fable were beautiful and made him totally swoon worthy. I love how he shows his love for Fable and is there for her and Owen when she needs him the most.

"You keep me sane," I whisper.  "You make my life worth living.  Because of you, I'm a better man."

We cannot forget about Adele and Drew's father.  The story line with Adele and the father comes to a head in a big way and I will say that the direction the author took was very unexpected but very well done.  I don't want to give too much away so I will just leave it at that.

Monica Murphy did an amazing job with the conclusion of Drew and Fable's story.   This was an emotional ride, but one that I enjoyed taking. Drew and Fable are both broken from their past, but they need to learn to love and trust again in order to find the happiness that they deserve.  Will Drew get his second chance with the only girl he has ever truly loved?  You will have to read it to find out.
I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
