Sneak Peak of Smitten:
I threw open the door to the ladies room.
“Everybody out!” I shouted at the women who were reapplying makeup at the
counters. I must have sounded angry enough because no one even questioned me.
They quickly grabbed their things and rushed out the door. I checked to make
sure the few stalls were empty before I flipped the lock and turned to face
Cami.
My eyes traveled over her and my hands
naturally reached out to follow them, tracing her wickedly defined curves. “You
look—”
“Like a tramp?” she asked with a laugh,
blushing a little.
I shook my head. “No. You look rather
amazing actually. It’s kind of killing me. I can’t hardly even see straight,
let alone think coherently.” My hands slid past the hem of her dress. “I’m
dying to know what you’re wearing underneath this thing.”
She grinned; stepping forward to close
what little space was between us and wrapped her arms around my neck. I noticed
she had a small purse dangling from a strap on her wrist. I’d missed that
before.
“I bet you are.” She grinned and bit her
plump bottom lip, not volunteering any more information. It didn’t matter—I
still groaned. I was strung tighter than a kite, and seeing her dressed like
this had kicked my imagination well into overdrive.
I took a deep breath, attempting to think
coherently. “Ripper’s not going to leave you alone.”
“I kind of figured that out. What should
I do now?”
“If he wants to date you, then we need to
try and stay together. Visit him at places and times where you know I’ll be.
He’s dangerous, Cami. And he’s not buying you gifts for his own health. He
wants to peel you out of this dress as badly as I do. I have no idea how you’ll
be able to keep fending him off.”
“I’ll tell him the truth—that I’m a
virgin, and I’m not ready to take that step. Maybe he’ll lose interest then.”
I shook my head. “I doubt it. He’ll most
likely see it as a challenge and try to wear down your defenses. And if he
touches you, I won’t be responsible for my actions.”
“You’re going to have to let him touch
me, Hunter, at least in some capacity. Otherwise he’ll be suspicious of why
you’re so overprotective of me.”
I growled in frustration.
“I can’t do this!" 4 star review of CRUSH
“Please tell me it's not too late to fix this. Tell me you still love me. I've never wanted anything as much as I want you. I'll risk everything that's important to me, just to hear you say you want me in your life.”
Every single one of us has had a crush. Our main character
Cami is definitely included! She is the smart, beautiful and a goody two shoes
who hangs out with the biggest nerd, Clay. Clay, who loves dressing plaid and
adores his best friend and is also very protective of her. They have been friends
since Kindergarten. Cami doesn't care at all what the other kids think about
her or Clay. They kinda march to the beat of their own drum. Little did they know
that the dynamics of their friendship are about to change, all because of the new student.
“I already liked him, and I
didn't even know him.”
*Insert
the GORGEOUS new student*Hunter. He has already
earned the bad boy reputation. He is also known to be a bit of a ladies
man and
he likes to partake in a bit of recreational drug use. Cami has a secret
crush
on him but refuses to give in and it doesn't help that her BFF told her
to stay
away from Hunter. Staying away wasn't in the cards for Cami and because
of her
clumsiness in class, Hunter is asked to help her clean up and when that
is
done, he picks her as his partner for a classroom assignment. They
start talking and Cami realizes that she is a goner. They have this
instant
attraction and I mean sizzling hot and very intense!
“We have got to cool down. You’re
driving me crazy.” I bit my lip as I stared up at him mischievously. “I thought
that was the whole point.” He shook his head and groaned. “You really want me
to get shot, don’t you?” “Not at all. We couldn’t do this anymore if you were.”
I had no idea what made me feel so bold with him. I’d never behaved this way
with anyone in my entire life, but I liked it. The things he made me feel were
incredible.”
Cami is hesitant because of Hunter's recreational drug use,
she has seen firsthand the deadly results of drugs and wants nothing to do with
that scene. Hunter on the other hand isn't looking for a relationship, he has a
lot going on at home and doesn't need the distraction of a female but he just
can't help himself when it comes to Cami. He wants to get close to her and to
trust her and for her to trust him but it is complicated...
“You're my girlfriend, Cami,
unless you don't want it that way." He opened his eyes, looking at me.
I swallowed. "I want it that
way."
"Good, because I think we've established I'm never going to get my
fill of you.”
Clay cleary loathes Hunter and warns Hunter to stay away.
Poor Cami is put in the middle of their dislike for each other. How do you
choose between a lifelong friend and the one you love?
Where's he starting?" he finally asked.
"In theater care. Where are you working?"
"Snack bar," he replied tersely.
"Please try to be civil," I begged him. "This is work.
We need to be professional."
He snorted. "Whatever,
Cami." He shot me a wounded look. "I can imagine he'll love his new
job. He's gonna get paid to follow you around through dark rooms. He's probably
thrilled.”
While new
relationships are forming, old ones begin to change, jealousy shows its ugly
head and shocking secrets are revealed leaving Cami angry, hurt, shocked and
confused.
“Is it possible to love someone
who never really existed?”
Lacey did a fantastic job with this story. It had me on edge
the entire time, does he, does she, will they, won't they, is she really that
blind? A Definite ride worth taking!
