I fell in love with Nikki and Kade in Chase and could not wait for their story. Kade is sexy, and fun and sweet but he has also had his fair share of woman, just like his brother Chase. It must run in the family. But the night he meets Nikki he knows that she is the one. Their night together felt more than just a one night stand to him but unfortunately he didn't even know her name when she left. As luck will have it, Nikki is the best friend of his new roommate Layla. Kade wants Nikki, but she refuses him every step of the way. What they had was sex and nothing more. But Kade refuses to accept it because he knows that there is something between them that Nikki cannot deny, and he will do everything he can to try and win her heart.
"I know she has her own demons, and I want to find out what they are. Help her, let her know that no matter what it is, I will always be there to fix things, make them better. Make her better, happier."
Nikki is a strong feisty woman who has been hurt in the past and she refuses to go down that road again. She knows if she spends more time with Kade she will end up giving him her heart, only to have it broken in the end. The attraction between the two of them is undeniable and the chemistry is explosive. But there is definitley a deeper connection that Nikki doesn't want to admit is there. She knows that the one night that they shared months ago was more than just sex. She felt it that night, what she had with Kade was different. She finally gives in to his persistency and decides to give them a shot. But there is one thing that will get in the way of her happines and her name is Ashley. Ashley is Kade's close friend who also happens to be the sister of his deceased best friend. He made a promise to her brother to take care of her and takes that promise very seriously. To Kade they are nothing more then friends, but Ashley feels much differently. Ashley will do everything it takes to keep Nikki and Kade apart. Will Kade lose the one girl he has ever loved because of the promise he made to his best friend?

Kade is a strong, sexy, alpha male with a really good heart and sweet side that will make you swoon. I loved Kade but there were times where I was completely frustrated with him and wanted to slap some sense into him. He was completely oblivious to Ashley's tactics and I think it had more to do with him being so close with her and not believing that she would do something to jeopardize his relationship and his happiness. But boy was he blind to it all! I loved Nikki and loved how strong she was. She had been down this road before with her ex boyfriend and was not going down it again. She deserved to come first in her boyfriend's life and if he couldn't give that to her she was willing to walk away. I admired her strength and loved her feisty side. She was definitely a good match for Kade. And Kade truly loved her and would do anything to prove it to her.
"I know Nikki is the woman for me, now I just need to convince her. Prove my worth. It will never be over between Nikki and me."
Overall I loved Kade!. It was a nice quick read that flowed very nicely. Kade is a good guy with a big heart and a protective side which makes him such a loveable character. I loved that we got to see a glimpse into Layla and Chase's happily ever after and a little bit of a glimpse into James life, all though he still remains a mystery. I love this series and the characters in it. I love the closeness between the brothers and how protective they are of the woman in their famiy. Kade will make you laugh, smile, and at times very frustrated a to the point that you want to just slap one or two of the characters and it had the right amount of drama and angst. Wonderful job by Chantal and Dawn. Cannot wait for James' story!
Excerpt
“Hey Kade,” I mumble as I walk into Layla’s house. Kade narrows his eyes on me silently. He's
leaning against the kitchen table, bare-chested while pouring himself a cup of coffee. He looks edible.
I clear my throat. I feel so vulnerable right now, and it's taking all of my will power not to run.
But I want Kade, I want this. So I need to suck it up.
“Layla’s not here,” he deadpans.
“I know, actually I wanted to talk to you,” I tell him in a soft voice.
He raises his eyebrows.
“I’m sorry I’ve been avoiding you, the truth is…” I trail off. The truth is after a week of
thinking, running, and hiding, I have decided I want this man. I want to take a chance on him. He’s not
Ben. And I’m sick of being a coward.
“The truth is, I’m scared, Kade. But I want to try, I want you,” I say as I walk up to him, and
wrap my arms around his waist.
“If you still want me?” I whisper in a soft voice.
His arms tighten around me. “Fuck, Nikki,” he says in a hoarse voice.
“Kade, come back to bed,” a high pitched voice coos from behind us. Kade’s fingers dig into my
skin, and his whole body stiffens.
I turn, and see a half-naked woman walk out, only in her bra and panties. It takes me a moment
to realize exactly what’s going on. It’s not like I expected Kade to be celibate, but, well, fuck. I don’t
know what I thought, it just hurts. This woman looks shocked to see me, and then gives me a dirty look.
“You need to leave, Kelly,” Kade demands.
“Don’t bother,” I say, my voice small. I push away from Kade, and walk to the front door.
“Nikki, wait!” he calls out, storming after me.
“Kade!” Kelly whines, grabbing onto his arm. I see Kade glance down at the woman in disgust.
Kade lifts his head, our eyes connecting.
His eyes are pleading.
Mine are vacant.
When our eyes lock, I see him flinch. Fuck him.
I open the door and walk out.
