Carson Stinger was a man who didn't play by any rules except his own. Working in the adult entertainment industry, he didn't care what others thought, and took each day as it came, no direction, no plan. He knew what women wanted from him and believed it was all he had to offer. Until her…
When circumstances forced them to spend several hours together, they walked away changed. But for two people who never should have meshed, overcoming the reality of their vastly different lives wasn't possible. At least not yet…
5 Star Review by Allison East
Totally girl crushing on Mia Sheridan and her writing. You know those authors that you just read their book- without even reading the blurb? Yeah she's it for me!
Leo and Leo's Chance are the first books in her "Sign of Love" series.
And I read those books in a day.
So you could imagine my excitement when I got an advanced copy of her third book in the same series (which by the way are NOT cliffhangers and have happily ever afters!) called Stinger! (Scorpio)
It follows the story of Carson Stinger and Grace Hamilton.
Grace is in law school and attending a conference in Vegas. She is obsessive about her life basically being predictable. She has it all mapped out. She wants the house, white picket fence, and 2 kids- Princess and Junior.
Enter Carson Stinger (swoon) Straight Male Performer. He was in Vegas for the Adult Entertainment Expo and couldn't be more opposite from what Grace was looking for if he tried.
But Carson is just what Grace needs even though he's not what she wants.
Following a situation where they were trapped together, a proposition arises and changes both of their lives forever.
The sexual chemistry between Grace and Carson is palpable. The scenes when they finally get together are scalding- I mean hubba hubba! Life was wild- and this book shows it; their lives separately and together.
There were times I laughed (a lot) and a couple spots where I cried. And some places where I wanted to throw my kindle across the room when one or the other of them were being ridiculous.
The story spans many years, and covers both of their points of view, which I love.
Mia's book Leo is from the woman's perspective and Leo's chance is from the man's. It's nice to know both.
Sometimes new authors make me skeptical. They have to do something, write something to make me love them. When you read 5-7 books a week you have an expectation about how a good book is supposed to be. It has to hook me from page one. And it did!
I mean law conference and adult entertainment expo at the same hotel, seriously. Don't you want to know? And as soon as the hero entered the scene I was into it as fast as you can say "Buttercup."
You will not be disappointed- trust me. I'm looking forward to more "Signs of Love" novels from Mia
(Hint to Mia: write more books, I love them!)
Deleted Scene from Stinger
****Spoiler Alert****
We walked to the condom shelves
and Grace looked back at me, biting her lip and looking around before grabbing
a box off of the shelf and putting them in our cart under some other items.
I couldn't help laughing at her
and as I did she turned around, glared at me and started pulling the cart.
"Come on, let's go," she whispered.
I laughed harder.
"Grace," I said quietly, "We're not robbing the place. We're
buying condoms, like responsible adults."
She paused, shaking her head
slightly, and she walked to me, smiling a small smile. "I'm pretty lame,
huh?" she asked. "I can speak in front of a crowded courtroom, and
yet buying condoms turns me into a nervous sixteen year old." She laughed.
As I gazed down at her, a
warmth filled my chest, "No, you're not lame, you're beautiful, and
amazing. And I love you," I finished, my face going serious.
Her eyes widened and she
blinked at me for a few long seconds before she said quietly, almost shyly, "I
love you, too."
And then her face broke into a
beautiful smile.
Happiness flowed through me and
I leaned down to kiss her when her smile faded and she frowned. I halted.
"What's wrong?" I asked.
"Carson, we just said we
loved each other for the first time in the condom aisle of the grocery
store."
"Yeah," I smiled.
She continued to frown.
"That's not a very good story."
I laughed. "It's my
favorite story of all time," I said.
She huffed out a breath.
"No really, what are we going to tell Princess and Junior when they ask us
about the first time we told each other we were in love?"
I gazed down at her, my
Buttercup, the woman I loved with everything I was.
I thought about that and
finally I said softly, "I'm going to tell them that I fell in love with
their mother on an elevator, somewhere between the forty-first and forty-second
floor. And that she inspired me to be a better person, that I carried her with
me through years, and over miles, into war, and out of deserts. I'm going to
tell them that she was always with me, my morning sunrise, bringing hope and
renewing my soul, and that somewhere inside of me, I knew it wasn't the end of
our story. Somewhere inside of me I knew that she was mine and that I was hers
and that we wouldn't ever let go. And when she figured that out too and came
back to me, I couldn't hold it in one second longer and so I told her I loved
her in the middle of the condom aisle at the grocery store."
A tear fell down her cheek at
the same time that she let out a laugh, sniffling and shaking her head
slightly. She wiped the wetness off her face as she whispered, "That's a
really good story."
"Yeah," I said, pulling her into my chest
again, "yeah, Buttercup, it is."
