Review and Giveaway: Thou Shalt Not by JJ Rossum

Luke Harper was finally starting to settle into his life - a life that had previously been full of more heartbreak and pain than most people ever experienced. He had a job he loved, and was blissfully content in his on-again, off-again relationship with the striking, and highly sexual, Holly. But, life throws Luke another curveball with the arrival of the alluring April, a woman stuck in a tumultuous, violent marriage to a famous athlete. Luke soon finds himself torn between what is safe, familiar, and right, and what is dangerous, unknown, and forbidden.

4.5 Wonderful Stars
Review by Amy Bustard

New Author JJ Rossum did a great job writing his first book of this series. All tho we are left with a bit of a cliff hanger at the ending, I must say this was a very enjoyable read. The story made me laugh and cry and wonder several times.. What the heck was the Luke thinking???

Luke Harper is a young American Literature teacher who was married until god changed his plan. He teaches high school students at a Christian school where behaviors are judged more critical during school hours as well as after. Being a Christian school, all teachers are familiar with The Ten Commandments, your rules of Thou Shalt Not; however some rules are not always easier to follow when temptation in the form of a substitute teacher April Batista is placed in the classroom next door.

April Batista is a young mom married to an arrogant professional pitcher Marco who has anger issues on and off the field. New in town due to her husband’s recent trade, April accepts a position with the Christian school and her husband is not happy or supportive.

Sparks fly between Luke and April and the easy banter between the two turns into risky behavior outside the classroom when Marco is out of town. Torn between right and wrong, Luke struggles with his thoughts and things get more difficult when Luke’s Friend with Benefits; Holly puts herself back in Luke’s path. Luke and Holly have a connection, one they have had for years and never planned on taking it any further until Holly finds out about April.

Luke is put in an awkward situation when Holly and April run into each other and things go from bad to worse, but when Marco comes back with a calm and collective behavior..

“Dancing with the devil is only dangerous because you run the risk of getting burned, I told myself as I drove home. But, the dance is always exciting no matter how it turns out.”

This book was very good. You will question Luke’s thinking and find yourself routing for April or Holly.

I won’t say whose Team I am on, but I will say that I HATE one of those ladies with a passion!

The book ends with a major cliff hanger that is going to make you waiting for the next book to come out just to see how bad this triangle left Luke’s world upside down. Luke Harper has already been thru enough and did not need the additional complications in his life. From heartache to heartbreak there is only so much one man can take.. with the most recent event, Who knows where Luke’s life will be heading.  I gave it 4.5 stars! I hate cliff hangers!!!
