Review and Giveaway: Hard Body Rock by Nora Flite

She thought she was stepping into fame:

Meeting Drezden Halifax should have been a dream. But dreams are supposed to be sweet, fragile things that whisk you away. Not monsters crafted from hard fingers, gritty vocal cords and a voice so powerful it could tear my guts right out.

Maybe my heart, too.

Becoming the guitarist for Four and a Half Headstones was everything I needed.

Too bad the band's lead singer is doing his best to ruin everything I am.

He thought she would solve his troubles:

Lola Cooper, god damn Lola Cooper. She was the perfect guitarist, fingers that could summon a sweet song or punch a chord. She's supposed to save my band, make us come out of this tour in one piece...

But I just want to tear HER to pieces.

No one should make me feel this way. One look at her, one smell, and I knew I'd have to have her. She does things to me that scare the shit out of me. Make me want to slam her on a wall and listen to her cries: eager or fearful, it doesn't matter.

I'm a monster...
And I don't even care.

4.5 star Review by Jen Skewes

Lola Cooper has been traveling as a roadie with her brother's band.  When her brother finds out that the headlining band four and a Half Headstones is looking for a new guitarist and quick, he convinces his sister to audition.  Lola is a little hesitant about auditioning for their new guitarist, not even thinking that she would get the job.  Sure she is a big fan of the band and knows all of their songs but the chances of her getting the job are probably slim to none.  But she takes her brother's advise and just goes for it.

Drezden Halifa ( I this that this may be the coolest rock star name ever) has had enough of his lead guitarist's crap.  He continues to mess up on stage, mainly due to his drinking and drug you.  So Drez fires him right on the spot with now warning.  Leaving his manager and the rest of the band wondering how in the world they will get a new guitarist in time to continue with the tour, that they are currently on.  They continue to audition guitarists and while the other band members think that found the right match Drez is no convinced.  Next person in line is Lola Cooper.  And while she may be a woman, she is a woman who can play.  She completely wows the band and they all know instantly that the job is hers.

Lola has just landed her dream job and is beyond edited.  But at the same time nervous as hell.  There is something about Drez that draws her in.  Their first practice together doesn't exactly go as planned.  Lola knows how to play, and plays very well, but Drez's voice completely captures her in a way where she can seem to focus.  Drez wants Lola, he cannot explain what it is about her but he wants her.  She is all he thinks about and he knows that getting involved with his new guitarist is wrong or so many reasons.

I loved this book.  It was a nice quick read but at the same time was intense.  The sexual chemistry between Lola and Drez was so intense you could feel it melting off the pages.  They both were attracted to each other but this is Lola's dream job and she is not about to mess it up for Drezden Halifax.  I loved Drez, he is a sexy rock star but beneath the surface has a heart.  He also has a history that I cannot wait to find out about.  Lola is very innocent in may ways but I believe she also has a past and at one time was broken.  I cannot wait to read more to see how far these two will go and how it will have an affect on everything they both worked so hard to achieve.

He knew he was addicted:

I thought it'd be smoking that killed me. Lola is more addictive than tobacco could hope to be.
After feeling her warm body, touching her skin... even if it was an accident, I've given up.

The monster inside of me is going to consume her.

I'm too tired to fight it.

And I honestly don't want to.

She knew it was risking everything:

Why is he trying to mess up my ONE opportunity at success?
My very god damn existence?
I can't handle this pull between us... a gravity that wants to knot our bodies together and leave me merged.

I thought Drezden cared about his band, that he wouldn't dare do anything that might break them-- and me-- apart.

When did I become the one thing worth losing it all over?

4.5 Star Review by Jen Skewes

This is the continuation of Hard Body Rock.  Lola has survived her first day on the tour bus with her new bandmates and most of all has survived being in close quarters with Drez, well barely.  Their manager wants the world to know who she is.  She wants her to do a photo shoot to let everyone know who the new guitarist it.  This is when things start to good.  For Lola it is show time.  She is about to perform in front of thousands of people.  And she knows that she just needs to focus.  She cannot let Drez get to her. She needs to go up on stage and play like she did at her audition.  She cannot let h thoughts of Drez interfere with this amazing opportunity and dream job.

Drez still cannot get Lola out of his mind.  He has figured out why she tends to mess up in practice and he knows it has to do with him.  He also knows how much he wants her and as much as she may deny it she wants him too.  the difference is that he is willing to take a risk, whereas Lola is not.  Drez knows that once the world knows who Lola Cooper is, it could ruin his chances of making her, his.  there will be the fame, the groupies, the men throwing themselves at her.  He needs to act now before he loses his chance.

The question is will Lola finally give in to the attraction between the two of them and deal with the consequences after?

This book was more intense than the first in the sense that you felt that sexual tension between the two of them.  I love both of these characters, especially Drez.  He cannot explain his feelings for Lola but you know that he wants her and it's not just about getting her in his bed.  It is more than that.  This was another quick read and left me wanting more.  I need to know more about their past, I need to know what happens next for these two.  Will they be able to have a relationship and at the same time will it survie in the world of rock and roll and fame?

A great must read series!!!
