Blog Tour: Black Box by Cassia Leo

Three fateful encounters....
Two heart-breaking tragedies....
One last chance to get it right.

From New York Times best selling author Cassia Leo, comes an epic love story about rewriting destiny.

Over the course of five years, Mikki and Crush cross paths on three separate occasions. Their first encounter changes Mikki's life forever, but their second meeting leaves them both buried beneath the emotional wreckage of a violent attack. Mikki is left with more questions and grief than she can handle, while Crush is forced to forget the girl who saved his life.

Now nineteen years old, Mikki Gladstone has decided she's tired of the mind-numbing meds. She books a flight to Los Angeles to end her life far away from her loving, though often distant, family.

Twenty-one-year-old Crush has always channeled his blackest thoughts into his music, but he's never had great aspirations. He decides to fly to Los Angeles to record a demo of the only song he's never performed in public; a song he wrote for a girl he doesn't even know: Black Box. He has no expectations of fame and he's never felt like his life had any purpose... until he meets Mikki in Terminal B.

When Mikki and Crush cross paths for the third time in Terminal B, neither has any idea who the other person is; until they slowly piece together their history and realize that fate has more in store for them than just another love story.

4 Star Review by Jen Skewes

Do you believe in fate?

Do you believe that everything happens for a reason?

Do you believe that someone can love someones else without even knowing them?

Black Box is a beautiful yet emotional story about fate.  This is the story of Mikki and Crush and how just three encounters with each other changed their lives and saved them, even if they didn't know each other.    This story shows that there is such a thing as fate.  That things do happen for a reason.  And that two people can have such a deep connection with someone that they have only met once or twice.

Mikki is all set to go to LA and leave everything and everyone behind.  Mikki's intentions are clear in her mind.  She plans to go to LA and take her life, to escape the pain of her past.  She can no longer deal with what happened to her that tragic night, or her illness any more and for her the best way to move on is to end it all.  But that is where fate steps in.  Her flight is delayed and while in the airport trying to figure her next move, she meets Crush.

Crush is on his way to LA as well for a music audition.  Crush's sister has been on him about trying to pursue his music career.  But Crush has his own issues from his past that have been haunting him.  When he see Mikki in the airport there is something very familiar about her.  There is this weird connection that he feels and while he cannot quite place it just yet, he feels as if he knows her.  They are both stuck there for a few days and decide to spend some time getting to know each other.  But what they both do not realize is that this is not their first encounter.  They have met before, their fist encounter through social media and their second on one tragic night.

I do not want to give to much of this story away but it is a very emotional read.  When Crush and Mikki come to realize exactly how they know each other their is this connection between the two of them.  They are two people who managed to save each other in so many ways.  They didn't know each other but they were connected.  Crush loved Mikki and while some may look at this as insta love in ways it was but yet at the same time it wasn't.  I know that sounds very cryptic but I cannot really explain it without giving anything away.  Through their first two encounters he felt such a deep connection with this person, almost in a way where he was meant to love her and be with her.

Their story is one of fate.  I am a true believer in all things happen for a reason.  And after reading this story you can totally feel the connection between Mikki and Crush.  Yes they love each other without even really knowing each other that well but it worked and was so believable.  The encounters that they had with each other were real and deep.  And it was fate that brought them back to each other that third time and you see that they were meant to be a part of each other's lives.  They saved each other and through this encounter they learned to heal, to support each other and fall in love.  I loved Mikki and Crush.  My heart broke for them and all they went through.  Crush was an amazing person and proved that so many times.

Casia Leo once again has done an amazing job.  I read the synopsis of this book and honestly it didn't really matter what the story was about, I would read it regardless, because Cassia wrote it.  But honestly this book took a direction that I did not see coming.  It dealt with issues that were deep and dark.  It was sad and emotional and beautiful at the same time.  It proves that fate can bring two people together.  I felt the emotions they went through, I felt the love that they had for each other.  I loved this book but will admit I wanted more in the end.  The ending was true to story and it definitely fit, but I just wanted more.  I guess I am selfish that way.  Another fantastic job by Cassia Leo
