Blog Tour: Pretty Little Things by Teresa Mummert

Synopsis

I was young enough not to understand that my life was different. Colin became the one person that I could count on to protect me. He suffered for the both of us by carrying the burden of our secret.
We were the lucky few that got a chance to start over. A fake family, a new home and a pretty little life built on lies. But while our lives continued to intertwine, we were put on very different paths. Now it was only a matter of time before they collide and the beast behind the beauty is exposed.

5 Fantastical Star Review by Nicole Lorenzo

"Love isn't something you can take. You give it and if you're lucky, it is given to you."
Annie and Colin have escaped their tragic past and now are living a new life. This new life is a lie, but one that is necessary to keep them safe. A fake family and new lease on life, a chance to start over. To deal with the pain of her past Annie blocks it out, she just wants to be normal.  She feels smothered under Colin’s watchful eye and his insistence that she blend in, so she starts defying him to get a rise out of him and show her independence.

“If you don’t dress like a lady, I will stop treating you like one, and that will be more fun for me than it is you, I promise.”

Since the first time he laid eyes on Annie he knew she was special, different. Despite his upbringing and what was ingrained into him since he was a child, Colin has fought to protect Annie and he will continue to protect her whether she likes it or not. But with Colin the demons of his sordid past often make him blur the lines between what is right and wrong. That means that keeping Annie safe also means protecting her from himself.

“I wanted to protect her, just not as bad as I wanted to F*ck her. Own her. Possess her.”

When lines are crossed and fate is tempted, Colin and Annie’s secrets are in danger of being exposed. Collin won’t let that happen, he has fought too long and hard to keep the past just that, in the past. But then Annie and Collin find themselves face to face with the monster from their nightmares. More secrets are revealed and both Annie and Colin’s futures are hanging in the balance.

“I had finally gotten to taste what I could never have. I’d gotten to see what my life could have been had I been the hero in her story.”

I just have to say that Teresa Mummert is one of my favorite authors. She can tell a story like no other, have you guessing to the very end and then leave you completely in awe of what you just read. I was sucked into this dark and twisty tale from the very first page and didn’t put the book down until I devoured the whole thing. The dark and tormented Colin Blakely will suck you in and spit you out a big fan of this beautifully broken anti-hero. He’s possessive, and erotic and so, so broken, but despite his long list of faults he will win your heart with his fierce guilt ridden protectiveness towards Annie. Annie is an innocent. She seems quite naïve but she is actually strong and sassy. When she defies and provokes Colin, it’s not to be bratty, but to get him to notice her as more than just a wounded bird. The chemistry and sexual tension between these two are off the charts from the start. Pretty Little Things is sexy, mysterious, and quite dark, I cannot rave enough about this phenomenal story!

"If I could make her happy; keep her safe, I would redeem myself.”

Author Bio:
"I was a Russian spy at the ripe age of thirteen, given my uncanny ability to tell if someone was lying ( I also read fortunes on the weekends). By sixteen I had become too much of a handful for the Lethal Intelligence Ensemble (L.I.E.). I was quickly exiled to the south of France where I worked with wayward elephants in the Circus of Roaming Animals and People (C.R.A.P.). I was able to make ends meet by selling my organs on the black market for pocket change and beer money. At the age of twenty three I decided to expand my horizons and become a blackjack dealer in Ireland. I loved the family atmosphere at Barney's Underground Liquor Lounge (B.U.L.L.). People couldn't resist the allure of Liquor up front and poker in the rear. Eventually I became tired of the rear and headed off to the United States to try my hand at tall tales. That is what brings us here today. If you have a moment I'd like to tell you a story.
