Review: Confessions of a Litigation God by Sawyer Bennett

WARNING, LIMITATION OF LIABILITY AND ASSUMPTION OF THE RISK from Matt Connover, Litigation God: Please do not attempt to read my story in public, as my sexual proclivities have been known to cause squirming in your seat, squeezing of your legs together and unintentional moaning, sometimes with spontaneous bursts of laughter at random moments. If you are offended by the fact that my oral skills are just as accomplished in the bedroom as they are the courtroom, then this book is not for you. There may be moments while reading my story that you get so turned on… so hot and bothered… that your squirming and moaning could turn maniacal in nature and neither I, nor the author, are responsible for the weird looks you may get. Notwithstanding the aforementioned warnings, if you assume the risk and read my tale in public, then I recommend you carry a spare set of panties with you. You will need them and you have been warned.”

My name is Matt Connover. I am a Litigation God.
Other lawyers quake before me.
Women crawl on their knees just to spend the night in my bed and when I’m finished with them, I walk away without a backward glance.

I am well satisfied with my life and there isn’t a damn thing I’d change about it.

That is, until McKayla Dawson came along.

She was meant to be for one night only.
But she got under my skin, and now I want her back underneath my body.

It’s torture working with her in my law firm… day in and day out. But I have to think maybe the Fates have intervened to throw us together because she is unlike anyone I’ve ever known, and thus I need to pay careful attention to these Legal Affairs.

****
Confessions of a Litigation God is a stand alone, full length novel. It follows the affair of Matt Connover and McKayla Dawson as told in the Legal Affairs Serial Romance, Volumes 1-6. This book is told strictly from Matt's point of view and has many additional scenes not included in the serial volumes

4.5 I Love Matt Connover Stars by Jen Skewes

fell in love with Matt Connover in the Legal Affairs series by Sawyer Bennett.  When I found out that Ms. Bennett was writing Matt’s story I was beyond excited.

Confessions of a Litigation God is Matt’s story and can be read as a stand alone.  There are scenes in this one that do overlap with Legal Affairs but this book is more than just Matt and Mac.  We get to see his real feelings, see how much he loves his son and despises his ex wife.  There are those scenes that we heard of in Legal Affairs but were dying to really see from Matt's POV.

Matt is considered a Litigation God.  He is good at what he does and proud of it.  He is also somewhat of a man whore and also very proud of that as well. Matt had been in love once until his wife completely betrayed him and broke his heart.  His plan after his divorce was to never give his heart away again.  To never get involved with another woman and from that moment it was all about sex only and nothing more.  He used an online service call One Night Only quite often.  This is a service where you can pick your one night stand on line and never have to worry about your identity.  This is where he met “Stella” the woman that he had an amazing night of passion with and the same woman who will completely destroy any plan he has regarding woman and love.

The Monday morning after his amazing night with Stella he is at work and still thinking of his weekend that involved the best sex ever.  He thinks about seeing Stella again until that plan goes to crap when he finds out that Stella is really Mac, his new legal assistant.  Now that he is her boss that means she is completely off limits.  He needs to banish all sexual thoughts of her because sleeping with someone who works for you cannot happen.  Or can it?  Can Matt and Mac manage to keep their hands off each other and have a professional relationship only or will they give in to the heat and passion that is between them?

Oh how I loved Matt Connover.  There were a few sides to him, the complete jerk, hot and sexy guy in the bedroom and then there was his sweet and caring side.  The part of him that was a jerk was I think part of the whole plan that he had to never give his heart away.  He was so afraid of giving it away only for it to get stomped on again.  I loved seeing it all from his point of view.  I loved watching him wrestle with his feelings for Mac.  While deep down he knew they were there he kept telling himself that he couldn’t go there.  I loved all sides of him, even when he was being an ass because you understood where it was coming from.  You got to see how much he hurt from his wife’s betrayal.  And you also got to see how much he really wanted Mac for more than just sex, even if he had a hard time accepting it.

Sawyer Bennett did such an amazing job with this story.  When you read a book and fall in love with the hero there is that part of you that wants the story in his POV.  You want to see the scenes that are all his that you didn’t get to see in the first book.  But at the same time you don’t know what to expect when reading it.  You don’t just want the same book from a different POV.  All I can say is that Ms. Bennett nailed this one.  There were scenes that overlapped but it was so much more.  We saw those scenes that involved just Matt and his thoughts, whether about his son, ex wife, ex best friend or Mac.  I loved every minute of this book.  I think I fell in love with Mac and Matt even more.  And Sawyer Bennett gave us an ending that will leave you smiling for days.  A must read.
