They say men like a lady in the living
room and a whore in the bedroom. I never knew the sentiment was reciprocal.
Until I met Jax Knight. A gentleman in public, a commanding, dirty talking
rogue in the bedroom.
Daughter
of legendary fighter “The Saint,” Lily St. Claire knows firsthand how fighters
can be. As the owner of a chain of MMA gyms, she’s no stranger to aggressive,
dominating, and possessive men. That’s why she’s always kept her distance. But
the day Jax Knight walks through her door she’s captivated by his charm.
Stunningly handsome, well mannered, Ivy League educated, and confident, he
shatters all the preconceived notions she’d come to think were true about men
who trained to fight.
But
falling for someone so soon after her breakup wasn’t something she’d planned
on. And definitely not something her ex plans to allow.
4 So Worth Is Stars!
Review by Lisa Kane
Worth Forgiving just might be my favorite of The MMA Fighter Series. We were introduced to Jax in Vince's story, Worth the Chance. Jackson "Jax" Knight is Vince's half brother by Senator Knight. While Vince was the product of the rampant cheating senator and a drug addict stripper, Jax is his legitimate son with his socialite wife. Since the details of his father's illegal business dealings and torrid affairs has surfaced, Jax wants nothing to do with him. He has no respect for this man, and has yet to come to grips with how he feels about his new half sibling, who just took the middleweight championship. The one thing he has coveted for years. He is a successful partner in an investment firm. Though it's suffered a few hits because of dear old daddy's negative publicity lately.
His latest business interest is taking him from his home in DC to New York to check out Rally's Gym. The owner's are Joe Ralley and the daughter of "The Saint", who retired as the Middleweight Champion of the US Boxing Conference. As soon as he sees Lily bent over a sketch pad at the front desk, he's just smitten. Yeah, smitten is a good word for the kick in his gut feeling that he has because of her. Lily lost her dad recently and has been relying on Caden, Joe's nephew for support. Unfortunately, he is controlling, and has stalker like behavior. So she broke things off with him...problem is this guy just doesn't take no for an answer.
"And you need to stop acting like we're still together, Caden." I don't want to be hurtful, but he needs more than a subtle reminder he has no right to question what I'm doing anymore. I know he's nervous about his big fight coming up, so I've been treading lightly. Obviously lightly isn't the right tactic.
When she looks up and sees Jax, she literally falls down. (her feet are caught in her chair) Ovaries-meet sperm.
Caden tries to muscle his way in and claim his territory but Lily sets Jax straight about her relationship with Caden. The two of them spend time getting to know one another. Lily knows Jax represents the group of silent investors that are looking to buy out Joe's piece of the business. What she doesn't know is that Jax is purchasing it for himself. He doesn't want her and Joe's decision to be swayed by that knowledge. Caden assumes his stalker role and has confrontations every which way with Jax. Jax meanwhile is fighting off his father, who seems to be taking an interest in what Jax is up to with Rally's Gym. He and Caden seem to be in cahoots, which can only spell trouble for our couple.
Lily and Jax's relationship is getting stronger as time goes on. And the chemistry between them..
Jax's mouth moves to my nipple, it's already swollen and needy. I gasp as he sucks hard, feeling the sensation shoot through every nerve of my body. The intensity of his desire pouring out consumes me...my body, my thoughts, my heart. He moves to the other breast, his hand reaching down between my legs. I arch into him as he slides lower, leaving a trail of wetness as he alternates sucking and biting.
When a misunderstanding between Lily and Jax causes them to break up the blame can be laid right at Caden's doorstep. This guy is like manure, spreading himself everywhere, stinking up the place. How can Jax get Lily to understand he doesn't intend to ruin her business? Will he ever get his shot in the ring?
"There's only two choices with a man. Forgive him or forget him. If you can't do the latter, then you need to forgive him because he's already stolen your heart."
I love the cross over characters in this series. We get to catch up with Vince and Liv from Worth the Chance and Nico from Worth the Fight. Both of the lead characters hold much appeal. Lily is a strong, independent woman, who lost some of her strength when her dad died, and she gave it up to Caden. Slowly, she has been taking it back and especially with Jax's help, she will stand on her own two feet once again. Jax is no player, he takes his work seriously and is loyal to those around him. Although he isn't without his faults, he knew he was being unfair to Vince and has learned to make peace with his mother's dubious choices regarding his father. He will protect Lily at all cost, even if it is from himself. I particularly loved the epilogue for this one-it takes place years down the road and we get a nice glimpse into all the characters in the series HEA's.
This one was a great ending to the series, I will be sorry to say goodbye to Nico, Vince and Jax.
Excerpt:
Meet Jax and Lily
Dinner and a dirty mouth
My face pinks when the waiter clears his
throat, no doubt he’d heard Jax’s last comment.
“Are you ready to hear the specials?”
“Are we?”
Jax arches an eyebrow, his eyes gleaming with delight. He’s not the slight bit embarrassed, but
knows I am and is quite enjoying himself.
“Yes.
Please.” I give him the evil eye
and force my full attention back to the waiter.
The entire time the waiter talks about the specials I feel Jax’s eyes
burning into me.
“I’ll give you a moment to let you
decide.” Graciously, the waiter excuses
himself.
“Why did you do that?” I scold, my voice
low.
“Do what?” He leans back in his seat, crossing his arms
over his thick chest.
“You know exactly what I’m talking
about.”
“Do I?”
“You enjoy watching me flustered, don’t
you?”
Jax arches both eyebrows. Bad choice of words.
“You know what I mean.”
Leaning in, his voice gritty and sexy, he
looks me straight in the eyes when he speaks.
“I love watching you.
Period. But what I like best is
watching you pretend you’re unaffected.
It’s like an unspoken challenge.”
He pauses and leans in even closer.
“I love the pink that creeps up your cheeks when I say something
dirty. The way your pussy throbs when I
mention what I’m going to do to you later, and you wiggle in your seat trying
to control it. So yeah, I guess I do
like watching you flustered. You sit and
give your attention to the waiter, trying to pretend you’re listening to
whatever he’s saying instead of thinking of me feeding you my cock later, but
we both know you didn’t hear one word he said.
Hell I didn’t hear one word watching you, just knowing what you were thinking
about.”
This time, I see the waiter before he’s
close enough to hear us. He smiles as he
reaches our table. “So what can I get
for you this evening? Did I interest you
in one of our specials?”
I look at the waiter, then Jax, who
arches an eyebrow with a knowing smirk on his face, then back to the
waiter. “The specials all sounded
delicious. I just can’t decide for
myself. I’m going to defer to my date to
pick one for me.” I return my eyes to
Jax with a cheeky grin.
He throws his head back with a chuckle
and looks at the poor confused waiter.
“We’ll take whatever two are your favorites. Surprise us.”
