4 Star Review by Jen Skewes
I could not wait for this book. We first met Jaden and Jules in the first two books and I knew their story would be an interesting one. Jules had dated Jaden's brother Scratch. They were in love and had a future together until one night an accident caused his death. Jules had left town but now she is back and not alone. When Jaden first sees her with his brother's doughtier all the hate and anger that he felt towards her comes back. When Jules looks at Jaden she sees his brother. Except it's an angrier version of him. She sees the hatred in his eyes and still isn't sure why he has so much anger and hate towards her. I needed to find out why he hates her so much, what happened the night of Scratch;s death to make him blame her. But most of all I needed to know how and if they would be able to overcome all these obstacles and find a happy place.
Jaden had always wanted Jules but it was his brother that she fell for. For the longest time he kept his distance and thought hang her would be an easier way to deal with it. But he lost his brother in an accident and the woman that he blames for his death is now back in town, and she is not alone. Jaden should be there to take care of his niece and his brother's ex. But instead he wants nothing to do with them. He blames her for a lot of what happened on the night his brother died. But there is more to Jules' story that he knows. As much as Jaden wants to stay away he cannot deny the attraction and the pull when it comes to her. Will he give her a chance to explain what really happened and realize that maybe not everything is as it seems?
Scratch was the love of Jules life. She still loves him and is still mourning his death. But when she sees Jaden something sparks inside of her. He hates her, but yet she still can't help the feelings she has when she is around him. There is this electricity between them. All she wants right now is for him to get to know her daughter, for him to be an uncle to her. But that's not so simple when Jaden's feelings towards her are as strong as they are. But when tragedy strikes, will Jaden realize that maybe he wants Jules and Sophie in his life more than he wanted to admit? Will these two be able to get past the obstacles that they are faced and find a happily ever after?
Jaden and Jules were so good together. You felt the tension and the chemistry between them. Jaden was a bit on the angry side but seeing his side you can understand why and where it was coming from. But Jules brought out a different side of him that hasn't been there in years. You saw a little bit more than the tough angry biker when he was with her. Don't get me wrong he is not the loving, roses and rainbows kind of guy. But you see under the leather was a man who did have a heart. Jules was a great heroine. she is trying to do what is best for her and her child. You felt how much she loves Scratch and what his death did to her. But you also feel and see how much Jaden means to her, not matter how much of an ass he was to her. She had her reservations about dating the brother of her deceased ex, but sometimes you cannot help who you fall in love with.
I have to say that I think this is the best one in the series. I loved the first two and truthfully Ryker and Faith were probably my favorites. But there was something about Jules and Jaden that I loved. Maybe it was how their story began, or the fact that someone as miserable and angry as Jaden actually does care. He can be happy if he let himself move on from the past. I loved watching him deal with his feelings for Jules and loved seeing a 3 year old completely capture his heart. Jules was that happiness for him. Their story wasn't perfect, it was filled with drama, uncertainties, and fear. Their beginning may have started off a little rocky but their end was just perfect. I loved this series am looking forward to the next one.
Drool pooled at the edges of my mouth as I stared at him in the early morning daylight. So early that I could tell through the cheap, dusty blinds that the sun was just starting to come up. The small glimpse of light was enough for me to know that he might look like Scratch… But he didn’t. He was hard and defined and rough and angry in a way that was uniquely him. I licked my lips, tried to turn around and search for my damn shoes. I had to get out of there. Quickly. But when I did, my hip bumped his table and I let out a quiet curse, biting my lip to keep from swearing louder. “Your shoes are in the truck.” Crap. I’d woken the beast.
