Synopsis
What do you do when being with the man you love is forbidden?
You hide it.
Our relationship is secret, because he is my teacher.
For the next six months I have to pretend he is nothing more.
We sneak around like we are ashamed of how we feel.
We steal kisses or the touch of a hand when nobody is watching.
The problem is, somebody is always watching
And when things go wrong, they have the potential to ruin everything.
4 Star Review by Jennifer Hagen
Eli and Jill began an online affair under false
pretenses. Eli was under the impression
that Jill was 21 years of age, when in reality she was only 17. But that’s not the only thing that they have
going against their so-called relationship…turns out Eli is going to be helping
his ailing father with his high school history classes – a class in which Jill
is a student. Talk about awkward when
you look up and see the guy you’ve slept with standing in front of the classroom
and you are asked to address him as Mr. Anderson.
Eli is 25 years old and definitely knows not to become
involved with a student. His father has
been there, done that and has left a less than honorable impression on
Eli. There is a huge rift between Eli
and his father, one that doesn’t seem to be even close to being mended. Eli now has the pressure of his father’s
ailing health to escalate the need for forgiveness.
“You spend so much
time worrying about being like your dad, Eli.
How much energy and time goes into that?
Think about forgiving him, for your own sake, not his…you can never be
happy carrying around all this hurt.”
Jill doesn’t have many friends and is used to being alone
due to her father out of the country with Army missions and her mother
working. She has plenty of time to
herself – time that she occupies with sneaking off to be with Eli. Even though
there is an 8-year age difference between Jill and Eli, Jill seems fairly
mature for her age and they are very compatible with each other. Jill’s actions/reactions never seem to place
her in the immature category.
You know that teacher/student romances are never going to
stay hidden forever. It’s always the
thrill of not getting caught that elevates the angst. Eli has a lot to lose if the wrong person
sees him and Jill together – he has a mountain of debt and this is his
career. Eventually there will come a time when Eli
will have to choose.
“I need to man up
and do the right thing. I need to
choose between a relationship with you or my career. What we’re doing isn’t fair on either of us.”
It’s decision time… can you feel your stomach
tightening?? What will be Eli’s
decision?
I have read several of Ms. Johnson’s writings and she
writes her stories with an easy flow.
These are the kind of stories to read if you don’t have a lot of time to
invest in a book. They are quick reads but
never lose the continuity, plot or substance.
I am not familiar with the co-author, Carly Grey, but one of these
authors can certainly write some sexy scenes.
Whoa.
About Carly Grey
Carly Grey lives on the Gold Coast with her hubby & 2 cats and has a passion for romance novels.
About Missy Johnson
Missy lives in a small town in Central Victoria with her husband, and her confused pets (a dog who think she’s a cat, a cat who thinks he’s a dog…you get the picture).
When she’s not writing, she can usually be found looking for something to read.
