Review: For the Record by KA Linde

With Congressman Brady Maxwell up for reelection and journalist Liz Dougherty about to graduate into a promising career, the ambitious couple’s future is brighter than ever. They share a passion for their work…and for each other. But when Brady holds a press conference to officially introduce Liz as his girlfriend, reporters hungry for a scandal bombard her. Now, her every move is under a vicious magnifying glass, and her life feels like it’s falling apart.

On the road to reelection, the passionate bond between the congressman and the journalist gets tested at every stop. Threatened by shameless media sensationalism and jealous exes, Brady and Liz now have to learn to trust each other despite what they read in the papers.

In the finale to USA Today bestselling author K.A. Linde’s sexy Record trilogy, Liz and Brady may be setting off fireworks along the campaign trail, but can their love transcend politics as usual?

4.5 Red White and Blue Stars!
Review by Nicole Lorenzo
Liz Dougherty is still reeling from how much her life has changed in just a matter of days. For the last two years she has dreamed of being back with Brady, and now it’s no longer a dream but reality. Congressman Brady Maxwell loves her and plans on announcing their relationship to the public. It all seems surreal; after all that they have been through could this really work?

“ I seem to be a game changer.”

“Understatement. You’re more than the game changer. You’re the game and the team and the league and the whole universe of sports wrapped up into one neat little package.”

Liz and Brady both knew that announcing their relationship to the public would come with some backlash. Liz’s secret identity as Sandy Carmichael was also revealed and the papers have gone wild with the story. Liz finds herself on the other side of things when she is suddenly the one hounded by reporters and having outlandish stories about how she is a whore and a home wrecker written in the paper. And as if things couldn’t get worse Liz gets relieved from her position as Editor at the college paper and her dream job falls through. Her world is spinning out of control and it’s all because of one man. But she refuses to give up on them.

“It’s worth it?”

“You’re worth everything…..”

Liz is having a hard time finding herself and adjusting to being thrust into the public’s eye. She feels like she can do nothing right and she keeps winding up in the paper as gossip. She is truly worried of hurting Brady’s chances of re-election. But he won’t hear any of it. Brady has made it clear that she left him once before so he can have his career; he won’t let her do it again. He regrets not going after her all that time ago, and now he is determined to keep her by his side forever.

“They say the measure of a man is what he does with his power. I’ve come to find that I have no power without you.”

Brady and Liz find out they have multiple people feeding stories to the news and plan on releasing a story that could hurt Brady’s chances of being re-elected as congressman. Liz is having a hard time deciding on her future plans. Due to the scandal, Liz has been faced with a lot of slammed doors where her career is concerned. And it makes her think, is their love really worth risking Brady’s career? If he doesn’t get re-elected will he blame her? Resent her? With all these odds against them do Brady and Liz have a chance to be happy after everything they have been through? Or will it all have been for nothing?

“Love blooms in the most unlikely places. It flourishes in the most difficult circumstances. And it lasts despite all reasons it shouldn’t.”

This is the book I have been waiting for.  After reading the second book in this series I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this one. We were being teased with the fact that Brady and Liz were going to get back together and I was sooo grateful when they did.  Brady and Liz have had an instant connection from the second they laid eyes on each other and it hasn’t lessened in the two years since they have been together last.  We get to see a side of Brady here that I really enjoyed.  He’s emotionally raw when it comes to Liz now, instead of closed off and secretive. We knew he wanted her in book one but he makes it clear he needs and loves her here and I love the progression.  Liz gets a whole lot more than she bargained for when she decides to go back to Brady. Her life is thrown in a tailspin and she handles it better than I expected she would. I felt like this was a beautiful way to end the series, and the epilogue is just what I hoped and wanted it to be!  I am secretly hoping for a Novella so we can catch up with maybe Savannah or even Clay! ;) But “for the record”… I LOVED IT!
